This was the perfect way to learn about sienna and the history of how and when it was started. We learned about the horse racing. We learned about the road from France all the way to Rome and its significance with sienna. Seeing a medieval town in person is spectacular. We ended at the Duomo And that was well worth it. The decorations, frescoes, and history of the church was well worth it. We even were given tickets to go up to an observatory where Galileo Galilei stayed for six months in sienna. It truly was a special way to spend the day. I would highly recommend this tour. It took about one hour. It was just the right amount for our family.

The cathedral was exceptional with so many sculptures by the most famous sculptors in history all in one place excellently described by our local guide Elena. She have us great historical references around Siena and to top it off told us the best red wine (Brunello!) and best places to eat!

Claudia was great at relating the history and culture related to the stops along the walking tour. My only two issues were that I think Viator could have made it clear that the Duomo is not open until 1:30 p.m. on Sundays. We thought the Duomo would be part of our tour. Additionally, we signed up for an English speaking tour. As it turned out, it was an English/Italian tour, so half the time we didn’t know what was being discussed. Viator should make it clear when a tour is dual language….each language loses half the time of the tour. If it were single language we could have seen and learned about twice the sites/events/culture that we got on the dual language tour.

Plus - Simona was a lovely guide. Handled large group (20+) well. Fun facts and informative. Led English and Italian tour seamlessly. Negative - a bit hard to find and hear - no headsets. Good value for the price. I recommend!

The tour guide tried hard but her English was not great and she was hard to understand

The tour guide was lovely but the tour was not only in English as I expected. The tour was both in Italian and English which meant there was a lot of standing around waiting for her to translate to English. I also felt she took much more time speaking in Italian so you were getting much more history than she kinda of rushed through the English part. My group had only 6 English speakers and probably 15 Italian so she might have been catering to the sizes but I felt it could have been 1/2 the time in English only or the full time with more history. Siena was stunning and I’m glad I did the tour because I learned some things I wouldn’t have otherwise but it wasn’t the best experience.

Our guide, Simona, was absolutely wonderful. We were an unusually large group of over 20 people with some only speaking English and others only Italian. I was thinking the tour would be a disappointment because Simona would have to repeat everything in both languages and we are a large group to be walking around with a guide in narrow winding streets. Simona, with all her exuberance and energy, managed to pull it off and still make it a very informative and engaging tour.
