Excellent guide

Paul_S, Mar 2026
Very friendly and knowledgeable guide ( Petra ). Itálica is worth a visit but the site itself could be further enhanced . The monastery and outdoor theater were good bonus visits .

Pass

Shauna_T, Feb 2026
This one is tough. Italica is only about 20 minutes from the center, but we drove around sevilla In a bus picking up other guests. Italica was mostly closed due to storm damage. Out of control 9f the tour company, but they should have contacted us so we could decide if we wanted to proceed. Other tour members received a call, but we did not. They switched the stops on the way back, forcing us to stay on the bus longer. Italica is also free, so do yourselves a favor and take a cab. Your vacation time will thank you.

Thésée et Paris

William_H, Jan 2026
The guide and bus were 30 minutes late, which is frustrating when you have to be back in time for a train and therefore can’t just have the excursion go over time. The result is that your trip is cut 30 minutes short. We didn’t visit the theatre or the baths. The guide could put more effort into learning the standard English names for things instead of just saying them in French (her native language). Sure, for most people the French names are still somewhat intelligible with a bit of guess work (e.g. Thésée for Theseus) but for others maybe less so. I’m not bothered by accents and celebrate multilingualism, but I just think a little extra effort regarding names would benefit future tour guests. Also, please clarify that Parian marble is from Paros (Greek island) and not from Paris, France. The poor American woman who expressed her amazement that the marble had come all the way from Paris (how fancy!) without you correcting her / clarifying is now going to carry the false understanding with her for the rest of her days. Finally, some of the historical accounts were misleading and/or oversimplified, for example that the Romans woke up one day and realised there were Carthaginians in Spain and came to help the locals kick them out. No mention of the fact that Spain was inhabited by lots of different peoples at the time of the second punic war and that Phonecians had been present there for 800+ years and in reality were themselves locals. Sure, maybe the locals of Saguntum weren’t so hot on Carthage but other groups were and also the Romans were equally as exploitative of local resources. The simplification without nuance approach was reflected later when the guide talked briefly about the “reconquista”. I got there and back alive and safe so 3 stars. However, if you already have some background knowledge then I’d recommend just getting the commuter bus from Seville (only a few euros) and getting a briefing from/ asking questions of ChatGPT once you’re there.

Excellent Tour

Audrey_C, Jan 2026
It was a very interesting tour. Jesús was an excellent tour guide who had great knowledge and passion for his subject both at the site itself and the additional Monastery visit. I had expected to only walk round the church and was both surprised and delighted that it included a detailed history from Jesús.

Román ruins just outside of Seville!

Yolanda_P, Nov 2025
We had a great tour with Rebecca! She had fantastic information about all the history of the site. Roman ruins just 20 minutes outside of Seville and a Monastery visit was amazing. Even with the rain, we saw a lot and learned a great deal.

Roman history brought to life

Rochelle_W, Oct 2025
Fascinating place with so much preserved. Very good, interesting and knowledgeable guide. Then went to the monastery which also had a lot of history. However we were not told to bring ID, but thankfully had passports on screenshots on phone. So please make that clear in instructions

The trip was well...

Pete_C, Oct 2025
The trip was well organized. The bus was comfy. The guide was knowledgeable and personable and made the trip interesting. The site is really amazing and worth the visit. There was a ‘bonus’ side trip of a visit to San Isidoro del Campo, a former fortress monastery. My complaint is that they advertised in their literature and it said on the ticket that food and drinks were provided. But that was not the case. It was a hot day and it took a toll on me and left me dehydrated. I felt light headed at one point. I heard a couple of other travelers.mention it too.

Highly recommend

Christina_C, Oct 2025
Great tour - would highly recommend. Plenty of time in Italica to see everything. Tour guide was kind and knowledgeable. Bus was clean and comfortable.

Italica city is amazing monastery is boring as hell

Chloe_D, Aug 2025
One of the tour guides never showed up so our poor tour guide had to combine both the Spanish and English group, doing both tours at the same time and she did this seamlessly. Swapping paragraph by paragraph between between English and Spanish she took the challenge as a champ and covered the whole tour flawlessly. The city was absolutely incredible, what has been excavated is in incredible condition and our guide was a wealth of information. Felt like a behind the scenes tour with excavation being conducted while we were there, I’d love to come again in the future once the city is finished just to see the difference. Easily took half the day and was one of my Seville highlights. The monastery was so boring and unnecessary, I’d recommend just staying on the bus for that part :)

Really interesting historical tour, tremendous mosaics and ampitheater

Joe_B, May 2025
We really enjoyed our tour and our guide (Juanra). The amphitheater is really big (second to only the Coliseum in Rome at the time) . We were pleasantly surprised at how much of he homes had been restored, particularly the large and intricate floor mosaics. The monastery we stopped at on the way back was interesting, although we were somewhat "catheraled out" by that point in our trip. Italica is a short bus ride from Seville - this is a nice half day activity.

Must see!

Arturo_P, May 2025
If you are into history this is a must see. Very well preserved Roman ruins of the city itálica. Short bus ride from Seville so there is not a lot of wasted time. The tour company associated with this tour was first class. Bus was clean and looked new. They had two separate guides, one for Spanish and another for English. They were constantly communicating with us during the trip and both were very simpáticos. The second part of the tour is the monastery which is amazing. I must say that for the price this was well worth it

The city was peaceful and interesting. The trip was great and well worth the money

Peter_A, Apr 2025
Rebecca our guide was tremendous. We learned so much about Italica and enjoyed walking around the city. The highlight was the amphitheatre. We were picked up at the meeting point around 10 am and dropped back off around 3 pm if I remember right. The bus was nice, everything easy.

Our tour to Italica was...

gregory_m, Feb 2025
Our tour to Italica was an unforgettable experience, thanks to our amazing guide, Alberto. He has a true gift for storytelling—what could have been just a collection of old stones became a vivid journey back in time. As he described the ancient streets, we could almost feel ourselves walking through Italica 2,000 years ago. Alberto was patient, professional, and incredibly knowledgeable. He shared fascinating details that only someone with deep expertise could know—insights far beyond what you’d find in Wikipedia. His passion for history made the tour both engaging and educational. After experiencing his guidance, we couldn’t help but wish he had been our tour guide on yesterday’s trip to Córdoba as well! If you have a chance to tour with Alberto, don’t hesitate—it will make your visit truly special.

Not worth Viator Vendor

ENRIQUE_V, Nov 2024
Trip was poorly coordinated by selected Viator vendor. Delays with bus, picking-up other customers and too many pick-up points. Tour guides (3) rushed through trip experience due to initial delays and were not at all helpful to disabled party in group. Would not recommend this vendor or trip. Did not receive nor meet expectations.

Good trip, poor time keeping

GOPALAKRISHNAN_V, Nov 2024
Nice trip to a great archaeological site and an interesting monastery, inbut poorly organised and very late in returning.

Revealed Ruins cannot be missed

Theresa_F, Nov 2024
Our Guide Miguel had a vast knowledge of this massive spectacular site. He shared his knowledge as well as his appreciation for the work involved in unearthing and preserving these ruins to allow visitors to learn about the significance of Italia in Roman times.

Great time

Matthew_B, Oct 2024
Our guide Jesus was extremely knowledgeable about Roman history. I have studied Rome for much of my life and I still learned a lot on this trip.

Not a Good Experience

George_D, Oct 2024
1. Jose, our guide for Italica, had a poor command of the English language. A number of tour participants noted how hard it was to understand him. 2. The second part of our tour, at the monestery, was conducted in both English and French even though the tour was sold as a english tour.

Italica is awesome and so was our guide!

Aiden_W, Oct 2024
I'm a huge history nerd, especially about the Roman empire, and this was worth every penny. Our guide was giving his first English-language tour and was phenomenal. He provided some humor, a lot of background information, detailed accounts of both what historians in Spain initially thought about Italica, as well as what their updated information indicates, and he gave us plenty of time to enjoy the area. We also had a bonus trip to a nearby monastery, that, while unexpected, was also enjoyable. You could tell how passionate he was about each location, and that came across and was infectious to the group. I also loved that he allowed me to practice my Spanish while speaking with him and discussed some highlights from other cities we were traveling to in Spain after Sevilla. This is a standout as one of the most memorable experiences I had after travelling across Spain.

Well worth a visit

Johanne_W, Oct 2024
The site is fascinating. The mosaics are incredible. Our guide Miguel was entertaining and knowledgeable. I would recommend this visit.

Italica is great , monastery not so much

Michael_G, Sep 2024
I would have given this tour four stars as I really enjoyed seeing Italica however a visit to a monastery was also included and I found it unrelated and not of interest.

Leon our guide was brilliant in helping us explore Italica.

Richard_S, Sep 2024
italica, history, beauty, overwhelming cleverness of Romans all made so enjoyable by amazing guide Leon.

Good for Solo Traveling but HOT

Sarah_W, Aug 2024
I'm a solo traveler, and the group and tour guide made me feel so welcome and easy to connect with. I had an amazing tour guide Rebecca who was super sweet and stopped to show us so many unique things that you would have never noticed on your own. However, please keep in mind, that August in Italica is HOT. By the end of the tour, all of us were jumping from shadow to shadow. The monastery was also BEAUTIFUL, and Rebecca told so many stories that really made the tour so interesting.

Response from Host, Aug 2024

We are pleased to hear that you had an excellent experience with our team, thank you for your feedback, it is very important to us. We hope to see you again soon.

Fantastic and highly recommended

Rini_M, Jun 2024
Fantastic! Had an amazing tour guide Leon who genuinely cares about what he does and the culture/history he was speaking about. Makes all guests feel very welcome- despite being a large group nobody is left out. Very well planned and organised too. Fascinating education interspersed with a little bit of free time to do some exploring of your own around the archeological site to go back and take more pictures of something that caught your eye on the tour, which makes it very considerate as well. A perfect day out.

Unique Roman ruins

Horace_H, May 2024
Our guide was very knowledgeable and knew a lot of Latin! Did a good job of describing every day Roman life!

Italica and monastery

Dayle_M, May 2024
Loved the tour! Catherine was a great guide! The time spent in Italica was just right. We didn’t feel rushed at all. The monastery we visited was beautiful. We would not have found that on our own. Highly recommend this tour.

Itálica and the monestary are a must see when in Seville

Edwin_A, May 2024
We had a great experience, the mosaics are very impressive, our Spanish guide was very knowledgeable, the monestary tour is good for art and history enthusiasts
