Having read about Italica is was a very nice adventure. Sergio was very pleasant and well informed. It's less than 4 hours and that was very much appreciated as it turned out to be a hot day.

Beware of Viator. We were booked for Italica at a steep price. We were contacted less than 24 hours before the tour to let us know of a change in time due the marathon. (They were caught by surprise by a marathon?) All this for Italica to be closed due to weather related issues —which were also in effect for a while. Huge waste of time. I’m removing the Viator app and suggest you do the same.

The guide, Jesus, was well informed and presented information about the site professionally and with humor. His English is heavily accented and sometimes he used a false cognate; however, as someone who worked with Spanish speakers for decades, I was able to understand him.
The ruins are fascinating and the restoration has been done with care.
Be prepared to do a lot of walking on rough, uneven surfaces with level changes. Sturdy shoes are a must.
Some reviewers have mentioned problems - scheduling and availability of guides- with this tour. Fortunately, there were no issues today.

Good experience. Tour guide was well informed, entertaining and enthusiastic. Good 1/2 day option if you have time.

The roads are windy and the bus sways a lot so if you are prone to motion sickness it can be an issue. We left the tour at Alvia and returned via train. You are a bit rushed through Sagovia and Alvia. Leaving the tour allowed us to spend several hours in Alvia walking the walls.

Fascinating to see Italica and learn some of its history. Beware this tour is not as advertised. It is not 4hrs in Italica. You get about 2 hrs. The rest is travelling there and back plus a 30 minute stop off at a nearby monastery which is not advertised in this write up. There is another tour company who does advertise the monastery and Italica. However I specifically chose this tour because it didn't go to the monastery. I think there are 2 tour companies and they joined the tours together so we had to go to the monastery whether we liked it or not. Very poor. Tour guide wasn't the greatest either. He gave more information about Spain in general rather than the actual city of Italica

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're glad to hear you found the visit to Itálica fascinating and appreciated learning about its history.
We’re truly sorry the tour did not meet your expectations. The total duration of the experience includes transportation time as Itálica is located outside Seville. The visit to the nearby monastery of San Isidoro del Campo is included in some of our departures to offer a broader historical perspective of the area, and we regret if this wasn’t clearly stated at the time of booking.
We also take note of your comments regarding the guide and the focus of the commentary, and will pass this along to our team to improve the experience.
Your feedback helps us refine our communication and services, and we truly appreciate it.
Warm regards,

Great experience on a HOT day. Picked up in Seville and went outside of town about 20 minutes. Spent about 2 hrs walking around the ancient Roman ruins learning from a great very knowledgeable tour guide. After the tour had about 20-30 minutes to visit the little restaurant across the street to cool down, get some drinks and they had ice cream too. Then off to another short stop to see a Monastery. Spent about 30 minutes there and then back to Seville. It was great learning about Italica as it was the civilization way before the area of Sevilla.
Response from Host, Jun 2025
Thank you so much for sharing your experience! We’re so happy to hear you enjoyed the visit to Itálica — even on such a hot day! It’s always a pleasure to know that our guides helped bring the ancient Roman history to life and made the tour both informative and enjoyable.
We’re also glad you appreciated the relaxing break and the short visit to the monastery, which offers a different layer of history in the area.
Thanks again for choosing us, and we hope to see you on another tour soon!
Warm regards

Simple group tour of the ruins. Was good for group but would recommended private if you like a more personal experience! Great tour for groups!!

We where lucky we had nice weather and a very good tour guide
Jesus knowledge of Italica was very impressive and enthusiasm was infectious.
Thoroughly enjoyed our time with him and would highly recommend this tour

This is def an interesting area to visit. The tour guides seemed disorganized, about 20 mins late, changed the meeting spot and then they weren't sure where our bus was. I pretty much speak only tourist English, so really appreciate English speaking guides being provided - our guide was not very proficient unfortunately, lots of words he couldn't translate and info about the area he was unsure of.
Response from Host, Apr 2025
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We're glad to hear that you found the area interesting to visit, but we're truly sorry for the issues you experienced with the tour organization. We understand how frustrating delays and miscommunication can be, and we truly appreciate your patience. Your input is important, and we will work on improving these aspects to ensure a smoother experience in the future. We’re glad you appreciated having an English-speaking guide and hope to welcome you again under better circumstances!

Our tour guide Catherine was so fantastic, funny, humorous and simpática. It was not easy to show around under that heat and sunshine.

I greatly enjoyed this tour because of the tour guide named Luca. He was extremely educated in Roman history and the history of Andalucia. He was generous with his stories and was better than many teachers I work with at explaining concepts, helping the visitor visualize what things looked like and how they worked, and patiently answering questions. Without him, the ruins would have been just piles of rock; with him I traveled back in time and connected how my life is similar and different from the ancient Romans. The stop at the monastery was unexpected, but enjoyable—again because Luca discussed the importance of art restoration techniques and how scholars build knowledge around new discoveries. I recommend the tour. If the bus is a little late because of traffic, don’t give up—the guides will turn up presently and they are worth the wait. I would ask for a little more time after the guided tour to walk around to take pictures—20 or 30 minutes would have been sufficient. Overall, I would advise you to take the tour. You will enjoy this site more, especially if you are lucky enough to get a guide like Luca.

We arrived early for check in with our tour operator. After waiting for several minutes we were called and told there wasn’t any room for us due to breakdown in communication between Viator and the tour provider. The tour provider said we had booked too late the day before even though Viator had taken payment, sent us a confirmation and all of the details for meeting point etc. for the tour. We were extremely sad to not have made it to Italica.
Response from Host, May 2024
Dear Customer,
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you experienced. We understand how disappointing it must have been to miss your tour to Italica due to a communication breakdown between Viator and our team.
While Viator processes bookings and payments, sometimes last-minute reservations can lead to availability issues that are unfortunately not reflected in real-time. We're sorry this affected your plans and we are working closely with Viator to ensure this does not happen in the future.
We truly regret that you were unable to join the tour and we appreciate your understanding. If you have any further questions or need assistance, please don't hesitate to contact us.
Thank you for your feedback.
Best regards,

Italica was an interesting place and worth the visit. Luckily we already understood most of the Roman history and architecture from that area. The downside happened after we got on the bus. There were 3 guides who never mentioned their names. We were separated by language; Spanish, English and French. Once we got to the site they each took turns explaining in different languages instead of separating the 3 groups. This took a lot of time. The lack of training was evident when the guides would walk ahead and talk away from the group. The only people who could hear them were people walking next to them. It was a bit frustrating. After leaving Italica we went to the monestary and we were short on time so the guild spent 80% of his time speaking Spanish. We would recommend visiting, but not with this tour operator

A great tour and Mario definitely provided fun and lots of history. We went to Italica and saw the amphitheater, then the "new" city with time to wander for a bit. Then we went on to a Monastery. About half of it is still under restoration, but the part that is done is nice.
Response from Host, Sep 2023

We really enjoyed this tour. We are game of thrones fan# so was looking forward to this tour. The tour guide was very good and done really well in the heat she was very informative and spoke English very well. Showed us lots of the history of the site which we would have missed if we had gone on our own.The girl that drove us to the tour was friendly and helpful also. Showed us where they filmed the game of thrones was really appreciated.
Response from Host, Jul 2023
Thank you for your positive review! We do our best.

I had a very difficult time understanding our tour guide Carlos. In fact I was unable to understand over 1/2 of what he said. I was very disappoint in the tour.
Xavier_M, Apr 2026
Excursion confirmed to the description with guide bringing us important information only flat in English and Spanish and not in French as indicated at the time of booking but in the end it was a simple English to understand
