Great Carmona and Necropolis Tour

Steven_H, Apr 2026
Great tour from Seville from our small cruise ship. Miguel was a good guide/driver. Because this was a private tour we requested our pick-up from the ship. Viator told us that we had to get ourselves to the Naturanda office for the pick-up. We did the 15 minute walk to the Naturanda office from our ship. Miguel was prompt at 9:30 and brought the van up to us. He commented that for private tours he normally picks guests up from their hotel or the ship but Viator has stopped them from doing that on the last 3 private tours he has guided. Ours from our ship and 2 others from hotels. The hotel guests had to either walk ot taxi further away from their hotel for the pick-up spot. So if booking for a private tour you should insist on pick-up from your hotel or the ship. The drive to the Necropolis was uneventful. The site is really good. We have done many roman ruins and burial sites. This site is real and not super turistic which was great. The small museum was educational. We enjoyed it. We then toured Carmona. It was Palm Sunday. We were able to visit inside 2 Catholic Churches during Mass; very special for us. We were dropped at our ship, not the Naturanda office by Miguel. Very nice half day tour. Our only wish was that Viator did not mess with Naturanda picking up private bookings from their hotel or the ship. We recommend this tour for anyone desiring to see Roman history and a very cute city.

This half day tour was...

This half day tour was excellent. Our Guide Jose Luis was very engaging and full of interesting information. He took us all over the small town of Carmona and showed us corners not normally seen with other tours. We were a small group and he provided and unforgettable tour. He made sure that everyone understood his explanations. He took us up to the tower and provided so much interesting history about this quaint town. He even dropped us off closer to Plaza de Espana as a favor and we were very grateful. We took three tours with Naturanda tour company and would use them again.

Comfortable tour

Fantastic experience

Our time in Carmona with guide José was fantastic. He was extremely knowledgeable, charming and offered an intimate and varied tour of Carmona, not only showing us the Roman Necropolis but also amazing views and sights we wouldn't normally have gotten to see around the stunning town. Can't recommend it enough. Thanks for a memorable time

Nice guy

Jose Luus was a great guide. He was so kind and really cared that everyone was having a good time. Thank you for a good experience.

Fascinating Outing

Roderick_C, Mar 2019
Ana our guide was enthusiastic and informative. We visited all the important sites and even bought an English Cake from a convent and ate it with coffee we purchased in the Market Square in Carmona. The outing would have been fantastic if it had been slightly longer and it had been possible to have lunch as well.

Actually, there was not enough people...

Actually, there was not enough people signed up for this tour so I was put into a tour to the ancient Roman city ruin of Italica instead. There were only 3 of us needing audio guide in English, the rest were Spanish speakers. I thought the tour guide handled it very well. It was impressive and I am very thankful for his effort. Italica was an interesting visit. I enjoyed walking inside the amphitheater and its service corridors underneath the brick/stone bleachers. It was also great to see the Roman drainage system from more than 2200 years ago perfectly preserved to this day. Unfortunately, the rest of Italica is barren - remains of knee-high brick walls and mosaic tile floors are pretty much all you see, and it is not easy to visualize how the city used to look like by just walking around the empty city blocks. We also visited a nearby monastery of historical significance from Christianity point of view. A stop at local pub for a shot of sweet orange wine was nice too.

We were very impressed with our tour...

We were very impressed with our tour guide, Miguel. He was knowledgeable, friendly, helpful and enthusiastic! Unfortunately, because of a lot of recent rain and downed trees, the Necropolis was not open the day we went. But Miguel substituted with taking us into the Fortress of the Gate of Seville. We had a full tour of the inside and went to the top and also he drove us around to the back gate, the Door of Cordoba. We then went to a beautiful hotel that used to be a Palace. Unbeknownst to Miguel, the Viator tour description was slightly different than his tour, so when we asked about the Santa Maria Church we were supposed to go to, he called his company and confirmed that was in our description. So, he took us to the church, which was his first time there too, and because of his historical background, he explained the highlights of the church. An additional positive for the tour company, Naturanda Turismo Ambiental, we signed up for a group tour, but my husband and I were the only ones that signed up for the trip but they did not cancel on us...we had a private tour at a group price!
