This was the perfect trip for us. Very reasonable price - clean boat with a great guide and 3 hours was plenty of time to see the volcano and soak in the hot springs. I appreciated this trip for being shorter in time ( and therefore price ) to see the amazing views with a clean lovely boat and great crew !

We had an amazing time! The hike up to the volcano was beautiful, and our tour guide was fantastic—knowledgeable, friendly, and made the experience even better. After the hike, we relaxed at the hot springs and enjoyed swimming. It was the perfect way to end the day. I highly recommend this tour, especially for the price. It was an incredible value!

A beautiful way to see the island! Highly recommend this quick 3-hour tour to hike the volcano (do not wear flip flops!) & swim in the hot springs. We hiked the volcano but didn’t swim because it was a chilly day but loved seeing the sights on the boat. The crew was fantastic. The transfer from Oia to the port was hugely helpful! Ensure you check the Viator & WhatsApp for communication from the company about your transfer! A 10/10 experience!

Our family loved this expedition. The boat is beautiful. The hot spring is unique. This is the hot spring can only be accessed by swimming in ocean. So fun! Highly recommend to explore outside Santorini!

Great experience

Donna_n, Jun 2026
Really nice little tour, lots to see and do, enjoyable for all the family. Didn’t realise you had to swim in open sea from boat to hot springs, noodle float device given for small children. Knowledgeable friendly guide

Ehhh. Not worth the money

Michael_R, Jun 2026
The tour was kind of a waste of time. A crammed boat ride to walk up a steep slope to peer into a hole wasn’t all that. The “hot springs” wasn’t hot, you had to swim to it with passengers from 6 other boats. It was crowded and not worth the 30 minutes they allowed. Save your money and skip this tour.

Great experience in a short amount of time

The tour was well done. Great communication before and during the tour. The boat ride was enjoyable, the volcano climb was not that bad, we had a great breeze to keep us cool. Great scenery up top but not much activity from craters to see. Go to Hawaii if you want to see active volcanoes. The swim was short but very refreshing, was expecting warmer water, changed a little but not much. Crew was great and very friendly. Would do it again.

Really nice half-day on the water! Wear sunscreen and prepare to walk a lot, but the views of Santorini from the boat and the volcano are impressive. We didn’t go in the hot springs because the water you have to go through to get there was too cold for us, but it was pleasant even just sitting on the boat and watching. Friendly staff!

Nice cruise to the volcano from the old port. Hike up the volcano was not too hard. Very interesting to feel the heat that the active crater is giving off. Refreshing swim to the hot springs, the hot springs are not overly hot, but very enjoyable. I wish we had just a bit more time in the water.

Wonderful time! Our three teenagers climbed quickly to the top of the caldera and we slowly followed. It was a nice hike with a beautiful view from the top. The hot springs was amazing! The further you swim, the warmer the water. Absolutely would recommend this for anyone that loves adventure and outdoor activity.

Was fun but not exactly what we were expecting.

Danica_O, Jun 2026
This was a fun little experience! We went mid June and the water was kind of cold a rough with the “hot” springs being warm but definitely not hot. The first stop is an uphill walk to the top of the island in the middle of the caldera. It was doable in sandals but I would recommend sneakers or more supportive shoes of some sort. It would have been nice to have a guide showing us where to go and give us some details about the volcano and the island, however, that did not happen. It was a beautiful view, however, it was crazy windy and not exactly what we expected. The second stop is a swim to the hot springs. The swim isn’t terrible but GET A NOODLE. The noodle made it a more relaxing experience especially considering the water can be pretty choppy until you reach the spring. Would recommend booking this if you enjoy a hike and swimming. If you’re on the fence, save your money and just take the cable car up and down to get the experience of the port.

Caldera & Hot Springs

Marc_N, Jun 2026
Really fun experience. The volcano guide explained the history of the island very well, giving us an appreciation for the causes and reasons for how Santorini came to be. She also was very clear and consistent about timing and directions to make sure no one got lost on the climb. I also loved the quick swim in the hot springs. We were allowed to jump off the boat (you don't have to, but it's a blast) and then swim to the springs, which isn't far - you don't need to be a strong swimmer, and they will give you a pool noodle if you aren't. The spring itself is a unique experience (if you haven't done it) with a goopy clay on the bottom (not my area of experience - all I can say is that it's neat). The springs themselves are not that hot- you can find a few jets here and there that are warm, but most just warmer that the ocean. But definitely a cool experience. Lastly, the boat is great, the captain gives lots of instructions to ensure everyone knows what is going on, and you can buy drinks (cash only) if desired. Docked 1 star for 3 reasons. First, the initial meet was a little disorganized; we had to recognize the guide and just follow her when she started going to the boat, there was no "hey, everyone on the volcano tour, please follow me" or anything, so it was a little unclear that we were even in the correct line until our ticket was checked when we got on the boat. Second, several other locals mentioned that some tour guides cook an egg by digging into the active caldera; our guide did not do that, though she did dig and let us feel the heat. Finally, the event description should be very clear about what you will actually see - the active caldera (there are inactive ones) has some sulfur stains and you can see a few wisps of smoke going up, but it is not particularly impressive outside of it's significance and the clear heat coming through the ground. All that said, it was fun to do and I would do it again.

Amazing

It was an amazing experience and Mary was wonderful. Very knowledgeable. It was wonderful. The wines were very good.

Fun experience worth it!

tiffani_z, Jun 2026
The boat ride was good with a friendly crew. The hike was guided but squeezed for time if you stay with them. We were given a time to be back on the boat and we went at our own pace. The hot spring was warm- just look for the bubbles. You don’t need water shoes but the bottom is slick. It was well worth the 588 steps down to the port.

Wouldn’t recommend at all

Liam_C, Jun 2026
Firstly I would like to say the travel guide we had for the day was great BUT the overall running of the trip and price is very misleading . We paid for our tickets but forgot to state you would have to pay €10 euros each way up and down the railcar and then €5 each to go onto the island after paying for our tickets , don’t think the pricing is accurate when it’s all added up. After all the walking around the island you’re taken to a shallow bit of the ocean for a swim , could of saved all that money and sat by the pool

The activity involved a hike and then a swim. It was not clear from the instructions that the only place to change was in the small, one-stall bathroom on the boat. Probably best to just wear your swimsuit for the whole excursion.

Great hike followed by the hot springs swim

Sandra_F, May 2026
This was a fun experience with my husband, 24 and 22yr old sons. We are a pretty active family and enjoyed the hike to the top of the volcano. But it may be a little tough for those who are not keen hikers. We would have liked more time at the top. The swim in the hot springs started with a surprise jump off the side of the boat, the swim itself was very manageable , and we could feel the change in water temps as we passed over the hot parts of the springs. Those who preferred not to swim stayed in the boat. The tour guide was very nice and we learned a lot about the volcano.

Amazing

Valentina_L, May 2026
Not a single bad word. You would think 3 hours is not enough, but it’s plenty. Plenty to see, plenty to experience and to learn. Loads of time to do stuff in your pace too. Tour guides friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommend 🫶🏻

Get there early and talk to the office. They give you a sheet of paper to board with. Pay attention for when they tell people which boat

Bad just walk not intéressé

The walk was To Difficult and no câble like mention The water was no very hot. We not recommand this activity

Super unique excursion in Santorini!

Miranda_D, May 2026
This is a must do for a unique experience in Santorini! Getting down to the bay was quite a challenge though…if you’re walking down please add a good 15 minutes if you’re briskly walking…it’s a LOT of stairs. But DEFINITELY take the cable car back up after!!! We boarded a large boat that resembled a pirate ship and sailed to the volcano first. We were told that when you got close to the volcano you would smell the sulfur and the rock would actually be warm (neither were true for our group) however it was still a neat little hike where you could go off on your own a bit. We then sailed over to the area where you could hop in (with pool noodles provided) and the water was extremely cold! But as you swam closer to the hot springs you could literally feel it getting warmer. It was so crazy honestly. We wrote our initials in the mud on a rock and then headed back to the boat again. The only thing was that we didn’t bring a towel (we thought they were provided) so it was a really chilly ride back all wet! We thought it was a really cool and unique experience!

Cool trip!

Gretchen_G, May 2026
The boat is lovely and it was really cool walking around the volcanic island. I had so much fun jumping off the boat into the Aegean (only a little chilly) and making the short swim to the hot springs off the island. Our guide was great and very personable too. I have issues with motion sickness but the trip to and from the island was short enough that I was ok. Bring a light jacket as it can be windy on the sea while traveling to/from the port.

Fun Excursion

Elyse_W, May 2026
Great very enjoyable and knowledgeable People very nice , I would recommend it . Beautiful boat. Make sure to bring good walking shoes and water shoes

Good value .Great views of all of Santori

Heather_M, May 2026
The hike to the top of the volcano was fine for the average person but hard if you have any mobility issues especially in the heat. The hot springs weren't as hot as expected ...more like kind of warm. The cold seawater to get to the hotsprings was refreshing after the hike to the volcano. There is no shade so bring plenty of water if it is hot out.

Fun

Lynn_H, May 2026
Comfy walking shoes are a must. Bring a warm jacket if it’s chilly. Tie long hair back if it’s windy

Nice way to spend a few hours

Great boat ride with a good hike to the volcano. We did not swim because it was cool and raining on the tour.

Great boat ride!

Michelle_D, Apr 2026
Beautiful boat ride. Friendly staff. Volcano hike is challenging but you can choose how far you go. Swim was easy although water was chilly until you got to hot spring part. Really enjoyed the boat ride and seeing Santorini from the water. Great restaurants in old port when you get off boat.

Tour not worth what you pay for!

Zulfiqar_D, Apr 2026
Good place to go, but don’t need a tour or a tour guide as such. 30€ per person for a short hop to the island and then pay 5€ per person to climb the volcano is expensive. Also, to reach you have to take a cable car which is 10€ one way which is insane.

Jay_J, Apr 2026
Our family really enjoyed this tour! The ride on the boat itself was a highlight. The hike to the top of the volcano provided some breathtaking views of Santorini! The hike wasn’t easy but worth every step. While not every member of our bunch swam at the hot springs, the two who did absolutely loved it.

Great fun

lydie_g, Apr 2026
