Fantastic day trip from San Sebastian, superb guide

Ania was an exceptional tour guide. During our drive to the first stop, she provided a very thorough review of Basque history and the past, present, and future of wine culture in Rioja. She walked us around the medieval streets of Laguardia and she snapped excellent photographs of my wife and I along the way. During our wine tastings, it was apparent that she was well known and respected by the winery staff; we felt like VIPs in tote with her. We finished the trip with a lunch, which was delicious. The best part of the trip was Ania’s knowledge and warmth as she created a fantastic experience for us.

Fabulous Tour of Unique Wineries

If you’re looking to experience the best of Rioja’s unique & smaller wineries, then this is your tour. Our guide, Martel, was knowledgeable & passionate about Basque culture, cuisine, and the whole wine making history of this unique region. No crowds, no mass gatherings at commercial wineries, and no buses. Martel introduced us to the local artisans at family wineries where they craft products that never see the shelves of supermarkets. We met some really interesting locals who were equally passionate about their wines & the land. Pace yourself & be ready for a great lunch in a local village where there won’t be any other tourists. Altogether a tremendously gratifying experience & great introduction to Rioja’s best!

Mikel was fantastic - so interesting to converse with and extremely knowledgeable not only about providing facts about the region and the vineyards, but just life in general. It was like traveling with a dear friend! We enjoyed every minute and highly recommend!!
