I would highly recommend this tour. We went with our two children 21 and 23. It was a great quick little history of San sebastian with stops at some amazing restaurants (we probably would have passed by) to get a quick taste of San Sebastián and the history behind what was chosen. I’m sure our tour was even more special because of our tour guide Carlos. He truly was phenomenal and his knowledge of San Sebastián as well as food was just top notch.

Mattin was a great guide and showed us many great pintxos. He was very knowledgeable and you could tell had a great love for the city.

Mila gave us a passionate and knowledgeable tour explaining the history of San Sebastián and pintxos. Very structured tour with visits to generation old restaurants and Mila chose a set of pintxos that basically went from a s starter to dessert without giving too much away so you can go and learn for yourself. Recommended.

Great way to see the old town, learn of its history, and try great food.
The group we were with were all interesting and fun but our guide Christina was fantastic and made everyone on the tour get involved.

The tour was over 100 euro to sign up. An address was given. Gave myself plenty of time to get there however Google maps took me way beyond the spot and anyone I asked for help with directions did not speak English which is ok. Btw, locals do not recognize the address. I went out of the way. A nice policeman directed me to the correct spot which I had passed a while ago. Ran back. Asked more cops for help when I got to location and they struggled to find the address but finally discovered it was right across the street. Crossed the street. Two tour guides there. It was about 6:10 when I arrived and explained the problem. Your guide not at all sympathetic. Did not expect my tour to wait but thought with all my contact info they had maybe they would reach out and let me know where to meet up. No dice. Other tour guides, same company, would not accept me on their tours. Suggested I try to catch up with the 6 pm tour but could not be for sure they would be at a certain destination. I had already walked 6.5 miles so wasn’t going to wander around on foot any more. I did call the guide contact number on my ticket when I realized I had reached the wrong location but no one answered. Sent an email to the company after but still have not heard back. Shared this experience with other tour guides this morning who led a walking tour I was on. They thought it coukd have been handled more humanely ’. Their words. I agree. Obviously cannot recommend this tour company for their inability to pivot and accommodate one person at such a steep price. Answering the contact info would have been a good start.
Met some nice Australians while waiting for
20 Minutes for a good solution that never came. Hope this helps and that the your company comes through with a refund and no excuses.

Dear Florence,
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We are truly sorry to hear about the difficulties you encountered finding the meeting point and the frustration this caused. We completely understand how stressful it must have been, particularly after allowing plenty of time to arrive and making every effort to locate the tour.
We're also sorry to hear that you felt unsupported once you reached the meeting point. This is certainly not the experience we want any of our guests to have, and we would very much like the opportunity to investigate what happened.
Unfortunately, we're unable to identify your booking from the information provided in your review. If you could please email us at feedback@walks.org with your booking reference, the lead passenger name, and any other booking details, we'll be happy to look into this thoroughly and follow up with you directly.
We appreciate you bringing this to our attention and hope to hear from you soon.
Kind regards,
Samantha

Lily was a wonderful guide. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the food tour. We went to 5 spots, many of which were on our list of must tries! All of the spots were locally owned and often very busy, so being able to jump right to the front and try some of the most incredible pinxtos was well worth it!

Our guide was very knowledge and accommodating to our many food limitations. It was a great experience!

A really great evening out. We were taken to some interesting places with a good selection of food and drink

Experience great small plates and wines of the local region. Gabby, our host was incredible and very helpful. Great time!
Tracy_G, Jun 2026
Gonzalo was a great guide and the bars, food and beverages were all different and tasty! (We had friends that did the same tour two days previous, but we went to very different locations - it may not be the same tour each outing)
Zlatko_T, Jun 2026
Our guide Gorko was great. We did the tour on our first evening in SS and it was the right call. Not only the chance to visit some classic venues but also some lesser known the food was amazing, the drinks were wonderful and the 3 hours flew by. Most importantly, as visitors to SS, we learned what is ok and what isn’t. Great tour

Great introduction to San Sebastián! Don’t miss this tour! George was fabulous. Loved the local food and drinks.
jacqueline_w, Jun 2026
The guide was fun, informative, knowledgeable and well paced. The selection of Pintxos restaurants was fantastic as well as the food, cider and wine variety. The tour was well organized and the food was excellent plentiful.

A great few hours walking around the old town visiting delicatessen’s and Pintox Bars, drinks and foot provided. Tour guide Mila was superb, really friendly and knowledgeable and great fun to be with.

We selected a private group tour for 4 friends on our first evening - excellent decision as it gave us a really good orientation.
The guide, Carlos, was fabulous - friendly, knowledgeable and very likeable and patient with all the (sometimes very random) questions!
We all thoroughly enjoyed it

This was a highlight of our stay in San Sebastián! Kristina was amazing - knowledgeable, friendly and made the night so much fun. She tailored the tastings to our liking and we came away with a much better appreciation of pinxtos.
Ryan_O, Jun 2026
Fantastic! Felt personalised to us as we were a family. Gonzalo had great knowledge of the local places. The food choices were amazing and really opened up our pallet! We enjoyed every bite and the wine/ciders were fresh & crisp.

Sorry I hate to write this but think the tour De Vour company really needs to take a look at how they do food tours. Our guide was very nice and passionate about San Seb and the culture but we were told at the very beginning we wouldn't be following the published itinerary. Very strange. This was a big disappointment bc all 4 of us in the group really wanted to try the Basque cheese cake at La Vina. She just said we wouldn't be going but going to another great dessert place.
What was frustrating is that initially the group was split into two small groups and we found out that the other group went to La Vina.
Another really annoying thing was that we went to one pintxos bar and then walked to the main square and then came back to the next pintxos bar ! So I guess that's how you stretch out the tour to 3 hours !
We went to a bar that wasn't even open and then had to go to another one. Again a bit of a scam and waste of time. The tour guide should either follow the itinerary or at least know which ones are actually open.
The iberico ham wasn't amazing as we were hoping for/ expected. Got a nice intro to the grades of the ham but even the higher grade one we sampled lacked the acorn specs that you're supp to see in pure acorn reared pigs so it wasn't that good. Our hotel ham in the morning was better and that came with the breakfast buffet. TBH the day before we had walked into this shop the tour chose and walked out in 2 secs. Felt more like it should be at the airport instead of the Old Town.
I think Unfort a lot of food tours in general tend to pick restaurants that kick them back something for bringing the tourists. Would love to find a food tour that was more genuine.
Response from Host, Jul 2026
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback Joseph. We genuinely appreciate it, even when it's difficult to read. We're glad your guide's passion for San Sebastián and Basque culture came through, and we're sorry the experience didn't fully meet your expectations.
We'd like to address a few of your points, as we think some important context may have been missing on the day.
On the itinerary: as stated on our website, we do not always follow the exact published itinerary. We always guarantee the same number of tastings and drinks and the same quality of experience. We run small, intimate groups by design, so each follows a tailored route depending on the day, departure time and the rhythm of the Old Town that evening. What never changes is the quality and character of every stop, all of which are small, locally run businesses we've trusted with our guests for years. We understand this flexibility can feel unexpected if it isn't communicated clearly in the moment and we're sorry it came across that way. Beyond our planned stops, our guides also recommend additional places to explore after the tour.
On the walking route: our tours are as much cultural as they are culinary, as understanding the context behind the food is a core part of the experience. The stop in Constitution Square is brief but meaningful, not filler. Returning to a bar on the same street was simply due to one of our partner kitchens opening at 7pm, something our guides carefully manage each day.
On the ham shop: we've been bringing guests to this small, family-run delicatessen for over a decade. They supply some of San Sebastián's finest hotels, weddings, and the International Film Festival, and we're sorry our guide didn't fully convey just how special this stop is.
Finally, we'd like to be clear that we have never accepted commissions or financial incentives from any of the bars, restaurants, or shops we visit. Every stop has been chosen—and kept—because we trust them with our guests and believe they represent the authentic San Sebastián.
We appreciate your feedback, as it helps us improve, and we hope you'll consider giving San Sebastián's incredible food scene, and Devour Tours, another opportunity in the future.
With kind regards,
Samantha

Excellent introduction to pintoxs and the local area. Our guide was really good fun. Would highly recommend for anyone wanting to have more insight and confidence in the pintoxs experience. Basque cheesecake alone was worth it.! All drinks and food experiences were excellent and gave us a chance to try things we might not have ordered ourselves!!
Olivia_D, Jun 2026

What a great experience trying a few select tastings of local cuisine and wine in the Old Town suburb of San Sebastian. Begonia our guide was very knowledgeable and an excellent host. It all went very smoothly considering how busy some of the bars were. The food was a great combination from start to finish and we highly recommend this tour.
Dyan_B, Jun 2026

Very knowledgeable. Loved hearing about the history of the Basque region, the wines, and food. A great part of the tour was that we had immediate access the pinxtos to some of the most popular bars in the old town. A lovely and well spent 3+ hours.

Had the best time on our food tour.

Very interesting & informative tour. The variety of pintxos was excellent & more than enough to serve as a dinner. Gonzalos did a nice job of giving us a sense of San Sebastian history & the basque culture, as well as insights into basque cuisine.
