The pintxos tour was so much fun even on a rainy night. The wide selection of options made the experience adventurous and each dish was delicious. We keep changing which dish was our favorite, but the grilled squid is always at the top!

Daniel gave us the most wonderful introduction to San Sebastián. He was incredibly knowledgeable about not only the history but also the culture of this magical town. The pintxo restaurant operates unlike any other dining establishment, and it was valuable to learn how to operate as a customer. Would spend another afternoon roaming the streets and soaking up San Sebastián with Daniel in a heartbeat. Topa!

Iker exceeded our expectations by a long shot. His level of knowledge of Basque history and of pretty much all the food offered in the area made for an exceptional tour not only of Pintxos, but also of the the area and the sites we should consider visiting (not to mention local customs to be aware of). I highly recommend the private tour, it becomes a fun experience that is personalized to you, which simply is levels above any group-based tours you might find. Do this on your first full day in the area so you will have additional ideas of where you might want to eat and visit for the remainder of your stay.

Our guide was incredible. My husband and I agree that it would have been very hard to do Pintox for the first time without a guide. She tailored the stops to what we had heard about and our preferences. She also told us about the city, Spain, and what it’s like to live in San Sebastián. I would recommend a private tour if you want the stops tailored to your food preferences.

We appreciated your personal opinion about our tour, but to be honest, we do not consider if pricy according to what we serve. We guess that is a matter of budgets after all.
To make the future travellers know what we offer and what to expect, this is the tour we do, which is much more than you described.
Our licensed tour guides do not help to order and choose... They do much more as a job, as is described in the following lines.
They privately guide you along the old town, teaching you about our city, language, history, culture, traditions, gastronomy and wines, maners... and much more subjects, all this on a walking tour exploring the old quarter of the city along 2.5 - 3 hours.
They take you to unique places and advice you about each specialty, ask you first about any intolerances, food allergies and order for you all accordingly as you learn about our social lifes in the famous food bars.

We are adventurous foodies from New York City area and have traveled all over Spain, but this was our first trip to Basque Country so we wanted to start with a local tour guide to get our bearings. Gonzalo was absolutely fantastic in getting to know our tastes, likes, dislikes, etc. to customize an amazing afternoon of Pintxo tasting with cider, wine and beer parings. Gonzalo was awesome, contributing his local knowledge to help us identify the best spots for great Pintxo. With that knowledge we not only had a fantastic tour with him, but we ventured out on our own the next night with what he taught us and had another amazing Pintxo "crawl" with some of the best bites I've ever had in Spain, or anywhere. Gonzalo shared some important history with a cultural texture that you can only get from a true native of the area, and at the same time was fun, outgoing and super accommodating. We've been on many private tours in the past all over the world and Gonzalo exceeded our expectations!

Our guide was knowledgeable, but not the best value for the amount of money spent. Of the four pintxos bar we visited, one of them was good, while the other three were mediocre. Out of those three mediocre ones, we had already been to one place and we mentioned that to our guide beforehand. We were given the options to pick different items from that restaurant, but it was still redundant.

You mention that they were mediocre ones, well, we should tell the readers that all the places we took you too are Top places in San Sebastian, rated by hundreds of travellers from over 4.6 points up to 4.9 from a total of 5 stars.
You also mention that was redundant; Here's what you had in each place, top quality food bites and variety.
1st food bar;
1st pintxo; Fresh grilled scallop dressed with white garlic cream, dried fruits and a coffee vinaigrette and topped with fried seaweed and sesame.
2nd pintxo; Grilled fresh foie, dressed with peach and vanilla cream/coulis, accompanied by salad, toasted seeds and glazed mini chives dressed with Modena vinegar.
Paired with local white wines, Txakoli
2nd food bar; The best fresh anchovy place in the area.
1st pintxo; The first pintxo invented in the city, the famous Gilda, pickled pepper, olive and hand deboned cured anchovy skewer.
2nd pintxo; Toasted bread, marinated white anchovy fillets, dressed with spider crab minced meat and veggetables cream
Paired with Chardonay wines
3rd food bar;
2 pintxos of the winner of the best spanish omelette in the Basque country in 2024. We reserved two portions for us as they are sold out right when they open the place.
Paired with Rioja red wines
4th food place;
1st pintxo; Fresh prawns ceviche marinated-seasoned with a home made spicy tomato broth
2nd pintxo: Braised duck breast taco dressed with its reduction’s sauces, fresh veggies and sprouts
Paired with Garnacha wine from Navarra
All the tour was guided by our knowledgable tour guide as you also mentioned too.

This was such a fun night. Carlota was such a warm and charming hostess. She did a brilliant job of catering for our individual preferences. We went to five great locations and the food was really good at each spot. However, what made the night special was how much fun Carlota was. An experience like this is worth every dollar! Thank you!

We had the best experience with our tour guide, Carlota! Right from the start she was personality plus. We started with a little history and moved right to our first stop. We had no restrictions as we wanted to try all foods and drink pairings. We would have never experienced these choices on our own. She knew all the places to go for immediate service and we were always lucky to find a table. Best night of our trip!

In a word. - Spectacular! But to further describe- fun amazing and I highly recommend. My tour educator Gonzalo was kind, funny and enhanced the tour a true cultural course on the city as well as the food. I learned how to get in to the most crowded of pixtos bars and how to properly “cheers” - topa!
To close it was an experience of a lifetime and I would not pass this up as I (and you) would have likely been bumping around the streets aimlessly wondering what to order. Take the tour -you will not regret it.

Gonzalo was our guide and he took us to the most amazing pintxos spots in all of San Sebastián. I wanted to weep with happiness trying some of these from a pork cheek taco to anchovies with spider crab cream on baguette. We even had what I would say is the best burger in my life was and as an American I’m pretty well versed in the burger. I would recommend this experience to anyone who would listen, family, friends and strangers my wife and I had just the absolute best time.

We had a great evening in San Sebastian with Gonzalo from Basque Guides. Lovely pintxos, wine and beer in combination with an introduction to Basque history and culture as we walked through the town. Shortly after booking we were contacted directly by the manager of Basque Guides and the communication was swift and personal in advance of the tour.
