Get out of San Juan city and into nature on this horseback ride into the rugged countryside of Puerto Rico. You’ll feel like an island native as you ride your friendly trained steed on an exploration of this lush environment.
Start your trip with pickup in San Juan, delivering you to the ranch’s stables for an introductory lesson in riding technique. Don’t worry if you’re a riding novice as this tour’s friendly horses are trained to accommodate all levels of experience.
From there, ride out to discover the picturesque lagoons and tropical fields at Hacienda Campo Rico, spread across more than 2,200 acres (890 hectares) of terrain. Take a break halfway through your ride to soak up this amazing scenery, and make sure to look for local creatures like frogs and birds along the way.
After the ride, board your transportation back to San Juan.

- Maximum weight for this activity is 240 lbs for the horses' well-being.
- Riders under 18 years old must be accompanied by someone 18 years old or older.
- Wear comfortable attire for riding the Horse (Long pants, T-shirt). Closed toe shoes are required.
- Bring sunglasses, sunscreen and a fanny pack.
- No refunds or re-schedule applies for late cancellations, no shows, being late or not complying with the requirements ( age, max weight, etc).
- Pick up time will be notified the day before the activity IF HOTEL (within Zone /List) was provided at least 72 hours in advanced. Otherwise guests can meet us at the Hacienda. No transfer credit applies.
- If guests miss the transportation, they can meet us directly at the hacienda (if time permits)
- Guests staying outside of San Juan metropolitan area Pick Up Zone/List (districts of Isla Verde, Condado, Miramar & Old San Juan) must make arrangements to meet the group. Guests must be on time for check-in.
- Participants must adhere to a casual dress code for outdoor activities, which prohibits bathing suits, cover-ups, or see through/ transparent clothing.
- Identification needed and must match the name of the participant
- We do not accept amendments less than 24 hours before the activity
- Not recommended for travelers with motion sickness problems.
- This tour/activity will have a maximum of 9 travelers

Would recommend to everyone, when you arrive your a little in shock, but this is an amazing place, coordinated beautifully, we don’t feel like we were forgotten, we were the center of her world on that trail ride.

We had a nice time riding horses today. It was a very slow paced ride due in part to some inexperienced riders but it was an enjoyable morning. However, I will note that the actual riding of the horses was only 1-1/2 hours long once we all mounted the horses and left the stable area. It was 3 hours total but that included check-in and getting everyone in the group to the barn and saddled up.

Beautiful farm with lots of animals. El Yunque visible in the distance. No beach riding.

I got 3 messages before the trip advising that long pants, a hat, and sunscreen was required. This is not accurate. Many people had shorts on and you can’t wear a hat, as they require you to wear a helmet. I had specifically went and bought a long pair of pants for this activity, since it stated I would be denied with no refund if I didn’t have on long pants. I was expecting a scenic ride, but the trail around the farm and property had a lot of litter. There was an old broken toilet seat, takeout garbage, empty bottles and trash littered throughout. We even rode past the dump site. We saw a few animals, which was nice, but overall I wouldn’t have booked this if the description had been at all accurate.

My guide Ania was the absolute coolest, so knowledgeable, funny, patient, and shared her personal connections with the land, which made the trip so much more full and meaningful. I can’t emphasize how AMAZING Ania was, and Midnight was the best horse you could ask for :) I can’t thank y’all enough!

What a wonderful day we had horseback riding with Sun Rico Tours. Faviola (call me Favi) was our guide and she was simply amazing! We had the longer 2 hr ride and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The landscape is gorgeous, vast and lush. The horses are Paso Fino and they were such “good kids”. Favi took us all around the property and explained what different trees were and talked about the different animals they had. This is an incredible excursion and we most definitely will do again! It is a very easy ride for all levels of experience. Favi’s personality was upbeat and positive and she really added something special to this ride. Ask for her when you book this most excellent tour! Thank you Faviola!

Customer service is the worse part of it, they were supposed to let me know pickup time and I couldn’t do the activity because 1. They didn’t tell me the hour to be ready and 2. wouldn’t reply to my messages / emails / call to figure it out since the day prior.

The best time ever! Angel and Fabiola are great. The entire horse barn team was amazing. So very nice and welcoming. Helpful to those who needed it, and I think they loved that we knew how to ride. My daughter and I had a blast and hope to come back.

The horseback ride through Hacienda Campo Rico was really fun and interesting. Our guide Amanda was the best, she knew the personality of each horse and gave us all pointers on how to deal with their bad habits. She was very knowledgeable about the area and the tour was over before we knew it. Nice, leisurely ride through the property.

We very much enjoyed our horseback riding excursion. The horses were well trained and easy to ride. The open countryside scenery was a pleasure after a few a days in the city. We had a good two plus hours on the horses which felt like enough time to really enjoy ourselves. Our guide, Angel, did a good job of orienting and leading us. We had a group of 8 riders, so it was difficult for our guide to offer much commentary that could be heard by all, but he did point out some of the sights.
A couple of things to note: We had a lost an hour of waiting between when we were told to arrive and when the tour began. We were directed to wait in a bar area with pounding music which was a lot first thing in the morning, especially since the surrounding area was relatively peaceful. In order to access the horses, we had to cross a paddock that was super slippery with mud and manure. Wear mud proof boots if you have them. Our sneakers were soaked. Lastly, the venue also offers ATV tours, so we were criss-crossing paths with the ATVs throughout the ride. Everyone was respectful, and the horses were not bothered by the ATVs, but it's a weird mix.

“OMG” this is a must do. Our tour guide Grace and Molly the horse was amazing. We had one of the best times of our lives. This was by far the best tour we had in Puerto Rico during our Vacation. The horses was well trained. The tour guide loved the horses and we saw how much they love her back. Just a wonderful experience we had. Thank you so much 😀🐎

I wasn’t happy that I was picked up so early only to get to the farm and have to wait an hour for the instructor. It was fun riding the horses and Isabelle was very friendly. The check in girl at the ranch was not welcoming and seemed annoyed that she had to get out of bed just to check us in. I did not appreciate her monotone greeting that made me feel like I was imposing on her time.

I am on vacation and typically weigh-in at about 235 but to my surprise I showed 246 on the scale and was denied the experience. I won’t even get into all the variable that make a person’s weight fluctuate but the entire thing was just crazy to me. I received a 50% refund on one of my tickets which was way better than nothing. My girlfriend had an amazing time so I just sacrificed the money for her happiness I suppose. For myself the person that paid it was terrible and embarrassing. I probably won’t use this site or the sub vendor for anything ever again. I actually was looking at activities today and completely shied away from anything that used viator. I could see if I was morbidly obese or way out of line in my weight estimation but I think 6 lbs deserves some consideration and at least a refund for the person who didn’t do the experience. Either way it is what it is and you got 75% of my money for 50% of the experience and a signifcantly impacted birthday celebration.

This experience was definitely worth it. It was a bit muddy and your shoes get dirty but the horses were well behaved and the trail was amazing. It was more of a relaxing ride and most the time we were sight seeing and riding the horse slowly. I would have loved to be able to run a bit with the horse but that could probably be dangerous if there is no previous horseback riding experience. Overall the weather was hot and the instructor was really nice.

Unfortunately I did not get a chance to ride. I was a few pounds over the weight limit. Don’t bother asking them about a refund they gone refer you over about the policy. Personally with a non refundable policy, it’s quite reasonable for them to be more lenient for those who are just a few pounds over to get a refund. Don’t take no chances with them!

You separated a space for an activity that you could not participate in. The humans that set their time aside to accommodate you have to be paid, so therefor, it is non-refundable. Viator gives all guests an opportunity to cancel 24 hours before without penalty. It is the responsibility of all guests to ensure that they comply with the requirements that are clearly listed on the booking pages.

Bring boots to the property. You will get your shoes muddy. Once you are on the horse you will have a great time with great guides who go above and beyond (one guide got my daughter a flower off the trail). They let us troot which was so fun. We had a great time.

This was truly fun, my first time. The tour guide was sexy and had a nice accent. He made sure the group of comfortable and made the experience fun. Jeans and a loose T-shirt for the weather is recommended, spot by the bar and get food. I didn't because I was by myself but it did look great!

This was truly an amazing experience! We had the pleasure of having Isabel and another amazing guide (I forgot her name but she’s only been there 3 weeks and is a ball of fun!) They made sure we all felt safe and we enjoyed our time! Highly recommend!!
