This was an incredible experience! The cave swimming and cliff jumping was so much fun and our guide Izzy was a great host and took great care of us. Make sure to bring water shoes or old sneakers because there is some rock scrambling required and if you don’t have the right footwear you will have a hard time. Water and rum pouches after the hike were a nice little addition. The beach at the end was also very beautiful and refreshing. Recommend bringing cash for the food trucks; some took Cash App/ Zelle/ Venmo.

We did this on our honeymoon. It truly was the highlight of our honeymoon. If you come to Puerto Rico I couldn’t recommend doing this more!!!!

This excursion is exactly what I was hoping for when visiting PR go the 1st time. It's a great combination of hiking the rain forest, jumps into the water(~8, 13 & 35 foot jumps), wading/swimming thru the caves, waterfall & visiting the beach. Beach was beautiful and the food was delicious.
Derrick was great. He is very helpful, patient & knowledgeable.

The event was pretty great! We met up at starting location & picked us up. They Initially took us towards a small hike & then bam! They said jump into the water. I cannot swim so it was unexpected for me but to be fair, the listing said you have to be an adequate swimmer to really enjoy it. I jumped & it was really exhilarating! Luckily, the weren't a lot of deep parts of water, maybe 35% of the tour. The hardest part of the tour is the jumping. But it was worth the jump! Beautiful caves & excellent tour guide! Some small feedback, the coordination between the teams wasn't the best, we booked for 2pm, they cancelled on us, rescheduled for 8am, then they said 11am. Luckily we didn't have any plans that day.

We had an amazing experience at Charco Azul, and a huge part of that was Derek, our guide. He was absolutely fantastic. He has the patience of a saint, was incredibly knowledgeable about the area, and was genuinely kind and encouraging throughout the entire trip. We would absolutely recommend this tour because of him.
That said, it is very important to read and honestly assess the physical requirements before booking.
My husband and I are in our late 50s and in average shape but do a lot of hiking, and while it was definitely a workout, we were prepared. There was also a child in our group who did very well. This tour involves steep terrain, uneven surfaces, and sections that require pulling your own body weight up using rocks.
Unfortunately, one participant was unable to complete the climbing portions without significant assistance, which caused extremely long delays. Because of the time lost, the rest of the group ultimately chose to skip the cliff jumps so we would not spend the remainder of the day waiting.
This is not a criticism of the guide or the tour itself. The tour was exactly as described. The takeaway is simple: read the physical requirements and be honest with yourself so everyone can fully enjoy the experience.

This was an amazing experience and Derek was an amazing guide!! Previous reviews don’t do it justice!!! You can bring a bag and leave it in the car. Def recommend waterproof phone case
You start meeting your guide Derek. Then it’s about a 35-40 minute drive to Charco Azul. The water was a little murky due to rain yesterday. But it cleared up as we continued through the day!
Your start by walking down a paved hill, which you’ll do 2x one time down and one time back up. Then your first hike through the forrest, your met with a small Cliff which has to be done to get to the caves. After the first jump, you make your way swimming through some caves. After the caves you make it to a waterfall. A lot of moments to take photos.
After the caves your guided to another hiking trail, where you can choose to do the Cliff Jumps. There are three different heights you can do or you can just hang in the water and cheer on others! After your cliff jumps, we took another break to take more photos and chat.
After the hiking and swimming we made our way to the beach. The beach is another 15 min drive from Charco Azul. The beach was so gorgeous and had a few food trucks and beach bars to try. The excursion ends with a drive back to your meet up point where we were able to get the photos and videos Derek took of us throughout the day!

We were a family of middle aged parents and two teenaged kids. Everyone had an amazing time on this trip. You do need a reasonable level of fitness and sense of adventure to enjoy this trip. Once you reach the parking area near the river, there's a fairly steep walk down to the river (which you'll also have to walk up at the end of the day).
Water shoes with secure straps are the best footwear choice if you have them. My kids didn't and just got their sneakers wet/sandy. Anything you bring to the river will get wet, so leave anything in the van that you don't want to get wet. We didn't have a dry bag for phones so we left them. Our guide took lots of great photos and videos for us.
At the river, we took a short hike to the first jump. You jump off the approximately 6-foot edge into the water below where you're looking into an amazing cave. Our guide, Isail, was great and talked us through how to do the jumps. Even my afraid of heights husband managed all but the highest jump. I think there is a way to avoid the jump off you really don't want to jump (we saw another tour climbing down to the water), but the jump is really a fun part of the trip.
We explored the cave, a waterfall that you could go under and behind and the river area. Then we had the chance for the higher cliff jumps - 10-foot and 35-foot. The jumps were awesome.
We then went back to the car to drive to a beautiful beach where we had a nice lunch from a food truck (bring cash!) and a chance to hang out at the beach.
The communication from the tour company was excellent even though we booked very last minute.

So much fun!!! Small group setting, fun music getting to the caves and beach, we had a great guide, steep hike, be ready to jump 10ft into the water to get to a cave, wear water shoes, waterproof bag or waterproof case for phone so you can take plenty of pics!

My sister-in-law and I signed up for this excursion on a recent trip to Puerto Rico. We were a bit tentative at the outset because we are both in our sixties, however our delightful and encouraging guide was extremely patient and respectful of our fears and assured our safety and comfort throughout the day. We jumped off a 7-10 foot cliff into a somewhat chilly pool then swam through beautiful caves before emerging on the other side for a hike through the rain forest up the mountain and alongside the river. After a short rest hiked back to our vehicle for a drive to the beach. Although we are from Florida, and have been to many beaches, this one was absolutely stunning. We had a nice lunch there from food trucks offering authentic local fare and sipped on refreshing Pina Coladas while relaxing and reflecting on the day. We are thrilled to have completed this challenging and exhilarating experience. Highly recommend!!

Not the greatest excursion, but we made the best of it that we could. First: they messaged me 2 days before our scheduled date to say the guide that day cancelled and could we move it up a day early. thankfully our schedule was open so we agreed to do that vs cancelling the whole thing. Second: met the guide at the meeting place and was surprised by the state of the transportation.....a sketchy looking old van with wiring etc hanging out of the dash and clip on fans for air circulation. Considering the day's group alone was $1000 for that trip you would think they could spend a bit more on their vehicle. Third: the "optional" water jump comes after the first jump that you must do to continue. It was only about 10ft but some of the group reallllllly struggled with it and were not happy that it was unexpected. The itinerary states we would see native Taino markings.....that was never discussed or done. Four: we were only given 1hr on Mar Chiquita beach and that was supposed to be for food, swimming, etc. Our guide backed the van into a tree branch which shattered his back window....so while he dealt with that we hurried to grab a snack and try to enjoy a bit of sand and water before needing to pack up and leave again. The free adult drink"s" was just one rum pouch. We did enjoy the caves and the cliff jump.

It’s unfortunate that you did not enjoy your time on the tour . Accidents do happen and I’m very well aware of what happened that day Though it is unfortunate that it happened your guide called Me immediately of the situation . you guys were allowed the time that is stated on the ad for beach time while he dealt with the situation. I want to be very clear that this incident was very minor. He was parking the vehicle and a branch that was sticking out away from the tree broke the window. No one was hurt. I would also like to add that isail is very well known for giving guest extra time if he can trust me he will because i get the vans back from him sometimes 30 minutes to and hour later. He will ask me if its okay to give you guys a longer time which i usually say yes if there is not another tour right after the morning tour. The entire group took 50 minutes extra in the rain forest which he never rush your group and still gave you the full amount of time at the beach even though the tour is suppose to run 5 hours and 30 minutes. I think it’s a little unfair to speak ill of a situation that was Merely an accident. The wire that you are speaking of that was hanging out of the van is literally a phone charger that I installed so mutiple guest can charge there phone in the vehicle at once. That has 0 to do with the performance of the vehicle you were in . The vehicle has AC and the fans are just extra for the guest comfort but i have been considering to just remove them as i could see they could maybe be an eye sore. Our company has 5 Vans ranging from year 2014-2019. You were riding in a Ford 2014 with 90K miles on it. Every cliff jump on the tour is optional. We would never as a company make anybody do anything and there is always a walking route.You must swim on this tour if you want to actually complete the tour but again jumping is optional. On our page you can see guest walking this route for proof. the video that was shown I did see some people scared of the 7 ft jump but everyone did it and everyone in the group including you were cheering them on. Maybe you were upset because it was taking them to long to jump which sometimes this happen and it can hold back the group which is understandable if so. From doing this for a while we get people from all different backgrounds and different levels of fitness . in the ad, it tells you that this is a hiking tour and that you need to be in moderate shape. Also, you had to sign a waiver as well in order to join the tour which describes the physicality of what you’re getting into. Isail is a great guide. he has really been an asset to this company because he loves meeting you guys and loves what he doing tours and I’m asking for anyone looking at this review to please go fact check this from previous reviews this year .He is always very helpful . Also, the rum punch is complementary of the tour and you could of had as many as you like. But please don’t mistake this tour for a drinking tour . This tour is about exploring nature the drinks is just Complementary for you and the guest when you go out to the beach. We are the only Tour to charco azul that does that just to do that as an extra gesture for the guest . I would recommend this experience - Every location was beautiful, the highlight for me was the hiking and swimming through the cave. I am not a fan of heights so I only took the smallest jump from the rocks into the water which was an accomplishment for me, but there are taller jumps available for the adventurous!

Derrick was a great guide and accommodating. He was on top of all safety aspects yet still made the experience very fun. Recommend for anyone to bringing their friends and family. Nighttime definitely made the experience more interesting and cool for us. Wasn’t too challenging and with Derrick’s guidance any obstacle was easily overcome. 10/10

We had an amazing experience! We had a knowledgeable and safe guide and the views were stunning. Be prepared to do a (not optional) small cliff jump, swim, and CLIMB. Water shoes with grip are best for this, along with a water proof pouch for your phone and any other small belongings. The ending beach location was gorgeous with plenty of food, drinks, snacks and umbrella setups sold on the beach, so definitely bring cash. A perfect day with adventure and relaxation.
