This was such an amazing experience. We went on a Family Affair Cruise, I was able to find this excursion last minute because everything was so booked up. I was able to book for nine people. It included transportation. They communicated very well. I had no issues whatsoever with my group of nine. They even helped us take photos and video footage. They were very accommodating and friendly. Very funny as well. I will definitely book with them again.

So here is the story about my mom, boyfriend and myself almost being snatched away in Roatan 2026
So we are standing outside trying to get the excursion people I booked, and a guy with a shirt that said the excuriosn name said come with me
So we went and the guy went down an alley then got another guy to start taking us to our excursions. (We thought)
They were basically stealing another guys car and yelling screaming. (This im pretty sure of)
Next thing my phone rings and ask if we are still going to our horseback riding. I said yeah we are riding with him now. Well they said no we haven't got there yet.( at this point I know we need to go back to port)
So I yell to the guy take me back now to the port.
No telling where he was taking us.
I told my mom something doesn't feel right with this I'm ready to leave. So we went back to port made a complaint and went back to ship.
Lot more in between the lines that happened but scared me enough that we did not horseback ride
So the guy that had the excursion shirt on did not work for them anymore. Basically, we were being kidnapped by a rival service provider impersonating the service we had contracted. Even more worrisome, what if something more sinister was waiting for us.
Needless to say we are glad we didn't continue that excursion and made it
Back to port safe and sound.

Dear Cher,
We are sorry you had a frightening experience, and we want to clarify what happened so future travelers have accurate information.
The person who approached you on Main Street was not from Xplore Roatan. Your booked pickup was at 1pm at Mahogany Bay, and our driver was en route 30 minutes before that time. We communicated with you through Viator messenger the entire time. Once you decided not to continue, we approved your refund request as soon as Viator processed it.
What you encountered was an informal local vendor wearing a shirt with our tour name. This sometimes happens at cruise ports around the world. It is not kidnapping, and Roatan has no history of violent incidents against tourists. It is one of the safest cruise destinations in the Caribbean.
The safest practice for any cruise excursion anywhere in the world is to wait at the scheduled time and location, and confirm the driver's booking details before going with anyone. We are glad you got back to your ship safely.

It was a very beautiful ride. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the area and very capable with the horses. The horses were well taken care of as well.

Amazing employees. Beautiful views and a fun time riding horses in the beach.
Exceeded my expectation by a long slide.

It was a great experience. Tevan was our driver who transported us to and from or cruise ship, he also helped us when no one would tell us it was our turn to go on the trail. As we drove to through the town he told us about the Island and the culture. He was wonderful and made us feel very comfortable.
Carlos was one of our trail guides. He was fantastic. We had 4 children in our group, 3 of our group members had never been on a horse before and Carlos made sure to pair each member of our group up with a hourse who fit their personality and experience level. 2 of the horses acted up with small gestures toward another horse (my horse) that scared 2 of our kids, but Carlos was quick to help calm both the horse and rider. The experience was fantastic and fun was had by all. The horses did look a little on the skinny side, but you could deffinetly tell by their bond with the guides they are very loved and well taken care of. I would deffinetly book with them again.

We were fitted with helmets, properly adjusted. The horses were calm & easy to ride. We had a guide in the front and one behind us even though it was just my husband and I. That spoke safety to me.
The guides were friendly but not overly talkative, which I appreciated, allowing us to submerse into the nature as we traversed the trail through the jungle winding up on the beach. There the guides took our pictures with our own phones, with the ocean in the background. We then rode into the ocean, up to the horses belly and followed the coast line for a bit then back into the jungle. Wear water shoes if you can as the water splashed over our feet while in the ocean.
We definitely recommend this excursion!

Be prepared to walk to the horses and if the weather is rainy it will be muddy. Apparently the ride takes you thru the lake so either get shoes wet or take them off
Response from Host, Feb 2026
Thank you for sharing your experience! You're right that the walk to the horses is part of the adventure, and weather on the island can be unpredictable. Our trail includes a ride through the beach and shallow water, which is one of the highlights most guests love. We always recommend wearing water-friendly shoes or sandals you don't mind getting wet. We appreciate the feedback and hope you enjoyed the beauty of the ride despite the surprise!

This was a great adventure I shared with my husband. We were paired with a family of four and had a wonderful experience.

Booked the horseback riding through the jungle and the sea. I got off of Norwegian Dawn cruise ship and followed their instructions to the Meetup. I was a solo female by myself and everything went smooth and worked out perfect perfectly.

This is a decent excursion, not too far out of the way, the park where the horse farm is located is secured by Guard, the horses pretty much know where they’re going, and you don’t have to lead them at all, and the people at the facility are kind and helpful.
The thing that stuck out to me throughout this entire excursion was the amount of trash that was everywhere. There was trash on the trails, trash on the beach,, trash at the mounting station, literally trash everywhere. By trash, I mean, empty water bottles, Styrofoam, paper, miscellaneous, plastic, beer, cans, etc. You couldn’t look anywhere around any of the trails where you were riding the horse without seeing trash..
This could really be a first class excursion if they would just take a little bit of time and clean up the area that you’re riding through.
Response from Host, Dec 2025
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback, and we're glad you enjoyed the horses, staff, and overall experience!
We sincerely apologize for the litter you encountered during your visit. Unfortunately, a significant amount of debris washed ashore from the ocean, affecting our trails and beach areas. We understand how disappointing this must have been, and we want you to know that our staff are working diligently to remove all the trash and restore the area to its natural beauty.
We take great pride in providing a pristine experience for our guests, and rest assured everything will be back to top condition very soon.
We truly appreciate your understanding and hope you'll consider joining us again in the future to see the excursion at its best!

This experience was super fun. I wish it was longer. Please take a fanny pack or a cross bag to put your belongings in because there are no lockers. You will be wearing a helmet just so the girls know, and wear your water shoes.

An amazing experience the gentleman where both nice, friendly and informative, explained a lot about the tour and gave us all life lessons

Beautiful scenery and very communicative on where to meet up!! We had an awesome time! Terrell was THE BEST!
Stephanie_W, Aug 2025
Staff is friendly and nice, give good instructions and answers questions. Horses are tame and well trained.

Unlike other excursions in Roatan, this was only a 15 minute drive from the cruise port. We had a nice air conditioned van (and actually had some space, instead of packing as many people in as possible). All of the employees were nice, the horseback riding in the ocean was amazing. This was a good option for kids, my 4 and 9 year old loved it. We went very slow, so if you’re looking for a faster paced tour, this might not be the right one for you. They also had a photographer follow and take a lot of pictures to sell at the end for a reasonable price. I would recommend this, especially for families.

The person was suppose to pick us up at 8am was about 20 minutes late. The other drivers for the other tours were telling us they were always late. When he got there he was kind but we did have to walk a bit to get to the car. The horse back riding was great. Be ready to pay tips to everyone since they do not seem to share. Otherwise they were kind and knowledgeable about the horse.
jeralyn_n, May 2025
This was a great tour and my family of 4 (2 kids 22 and 21) really enjoyed it. It was easy to find our guide and it was a quick 15 minute airconditioned car ride to the stables at Mahogany Bay. We signed waivers and put on helmets and were on our way. We rode through lush forest and ended up on a beautiful secluded beach where we took pictures and then rode the horses through the water. I would highly recommend!
A few notes:
- you do not have to be an experienced equestrian to take this tour but you do want to be comfortable around horses.
-Its hot so wear loose comfy clothes. You dont need to wear long pants. I was in shorts and a tank top
-Wear shoes that can get wet and dirty. You can take them off for the ride through the water but they still get dirty.

Can’t beat horse back riding along the Roaton cost. This was an amazing excursion and experience. Justin, our excursion guide did a fantastic job with keeping everyone safe. Helmets were provided and all safety measures were followed. Be sure to exit the port and get to the Main Street area to locate your tour transport operator. It is very busy and crowded and can seem confusing once you arrive at the port. All in all, this was an amazing excursion and experience!
Kim_C, Apr 2025
The horses differently can tell who they like who and who are terrified of them. If you’re not comfortable riding horses do not go on this tour. It was fun
Justine_H, Mar 2025
The young man that greeted us outside of the port was very friendly. He guided us to the driver who then took us to the location. Royal Caribbean port is about a 15 min drive to the location. Description was perfect for the experience. My teens and I enjoyed the ride. It was calming to ride through the jungle and on the beach. After we were dropped back off at the port and that was it. Glad we did it.

We had two guides and they were so nice. Horses were nice and calm. Scenery is beautiful and riding through the water on the horses was so peaceful and such a fun experience. You will get wet so wear old tennis shoes are water shoes! Our guide stopped and took pictures of us too. We had so much fun!
TERRY_M, Jan 2025
The horses at the stable that we were able to ride were Sunshine and Lady Gaga. Our guides took us through the jungle area and then we arrived at the beach and the real fun began. Our guide took pictures of us next to each other on the beach and then led us down into the ocean water about 3 feet deep. We rode the horses through the ocean for around 5 minutes and then back out onto the trail again. This was an amazing experience! The tour was great and even though it was raining, that did not stop us from going. We really enjoyed it and the horses were so sweet and tame.

This was a great excursion! The horses were extremely friendly and took the lead like pros (they also listened well). This was perfect for my partner and I who are first time riders. Ir was pouring rain when we arrived at port. Despite the rain we were able to ride, they had ponchos for sale. We would highly recommend this! Sunshine and Lilo rock!

A great exercise on a horse. This is our first time horse ride, everyone loves it.
A very good memory.

Allan is a remarkable Horseback Riding Tour Guide. If I ever return to Honduras, I will wait for him to be my guide.
I loved the layout of your activity landscape.

I was so fascinated with this experience I made up my mind right then and there I would return! Both a tour guide and driver put me at ease and I felt very welcome and believed they wanted to see me again
CarlaandRoger_W, Oct 2024
The guides were outstanding, the scenery was magnificent and the time riding in the water just super.
Cindy_L, Oct 2024
The booking was easy and the company was very communicative during the process. My driver picked me up right on time and was extremely personable. Ron my tour guide was really sweet, patient, and helpful. It was my first time riding and I was a little nervous but his friendliness and pleasant demeanor made me relax. The tour is beautiful through the mangroves and then into the ocean. It lasts about an hour but for me that was more than enough time. My horse Dakota was the sweetest girl. When I return to Roatan I will definitely book this tour again!
Daryl_M, Oct 2024
Riding the horses was incredible. The only draw back was there were no instructions on how to control the horse. Several times it knocked legs against trees. Also they need to clean the beach area up where you ride through water. It was littered with beer cans and trash.
