Efraim was an excellent tour guide. All three of us in the group really enjoyed having him as a guide. He had great disposition and shared lots of information. Pace was just right. Enjoyed visiting all the places he took us too

We were very impressed with Efrims knowledge of the Jewish Community and culture. He turned up on time and gave us an excellent tour. We had access to various Shules and the Cultural centre. I would strongly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Rio and wants to visit Jewish areas.

Pickup was on time, very nice van. Tour included another couple. We toured two synagogues and the Jewish museum, the Holocaust Memorial, the Jewish Cultural Center which has a kosher supermarket and sports and catering facilities and meeting and game rooms. We learned about Jewish life in Brazil and how the Jewish community provides free medicine to anyone who can’t afford it. Very nice tour guide, and pickup at our hotel. Recommend to anyone interested in Jewish life in Rio.

Ephraim was our guide and I felt like we were family immediately. I am reformed and live in Chicago. He took us to an orthodox temple, the great temple that welcomes all denominations of Judaism, the Jewish community center, which was incredible and a small museum that had an impressive collection. The Jewish community center is open to all faith and a gem in the city. With a full workout room, gymnasium, store, free pharmacy, restaurant, card, games, and more. I can see how this center would easily fit into my life. We also went to a holocaust memorial Park, and as we drove through many parts of Rio, he pointed out areas of interest. He also took me to a jewelry wholesaler where I bought a stunning imperial topaz, only found in Brazil, ring. The jeweler was an Egyptian Jewish woman, and also treated me like family. We ended the tour at one of his favorite restaurants that was not a tourist destination, but a favorite by locals and I understand why. I wish I could spend more time with Ephraim as I learned so much and was greeted with such kind hospitality. He is a gift to the world & I hope that our paths cross again someday in this lifetime.

delightful tour, air conditioned van. Varied tour of Jewish sites. The Holocaust museum was closed the day we visited. Ephraim was very knowledgeable. We were with 2 women from Argentina, but no great difficulty with language issues.

The guides are excellent. Very knowledgeable and helpful. Compared to other tours, it’s a little bit pricey for what it is. But, it would be hard to get to these places on your own.

Our guide was terrific. He grew up in Brazil
He took us around all the Jewish sites and gave us the history of how the Jewish people came to Brazil We went inside the synagogues and he gave us great explanation each. Told us about the close relationships the Jewish people have and the community center they built so there is a place for them to go. It was wonderful

My wife and I were picked up by Gisella and Efraim, two delightful and friendly lifelong Rio Jews. We were taken to the sites listed in the tour itinerary and were given a good understanding of the past and present history of the Jewish community. A great use of our time.
Unprompted and uncompensated, Efraim offered to and took us for Shabbat Services to the Reform ARI synagogue. He introduced us to the Rabbi and some of his friends. Everyone was outgoing and friendly and we had a great time.
I highly recommend this tour.

We did a shore excursion and were told to be on the dock at 8:30. The other couple from the ship on our tour was told 9:00. After beginning the tour with a half hour wait, we drove to a hotel to pick up a third couple and waited about another half hour with the tour starting a full hour late. Not a good start! Also a tour booked as “shore excursion” should never make hotel pickups! Ephraim, our leader, said he was a tour guide teacher at one point. I don’t know what kind of teacher he was, but as a guide, he was extremely a poor. He had a hard time understanding us. He told us next to nothing while driving around the city. In one temple he simply handed us a sheet of information and sat down to wait for us to look around. The same happened at the Jewish museum where he handed us a pamphlet and waited for us to look around. The worst part in my opinion was when he pointed out a bathroom we could use. I went in and when I came out, he was gone with the group, having left no instructions as to where I could meet them. After looking all over two floors of the building without finding them, I spent the balance of that stop waiting in the van. After I had spent one hour waiting for the tour to start, I was outraged that he could not wait a few minutes for me or at least let me know where to find him when I was finished. The sights were worth seeing but the aggravation with Ephraim’s lack of leadership made this a very frustrating experience.

Good morning, we would like to thank you for your comment. Good or bad comments are always important to us.
We would like to respond the points mentioned as bad by you, one by one.
*Departure time* - Our tours usually start at 9am. We always ask the customer to contact our company to confirm the pick up location and pick up time. We use a system to book our tours that does not differentiates the pier from the hotels, so it gives a time gap as it would be from a picking up point to the other. And for that, we are sorry about this misunderstanding.
However, according to our guide Efraim, there was a 15 minute difference as the passengers with the 9am pick up arrived 15 minutes earlier at the meeting point.
*Shore excursion* - The Jewish Tour is not sold as a shore excursion. We regularly do pick ups at Copacabana, Ipanema, Leblon and by the pier as well. So, the pier is just another pick up location.
*The guide* - Efraim has excellent teaching skills and a vast experience as a Brazilian, Carioca, Jewish and as a guide who's been working in this business for many years.
As it is a group tour, various informations are passed inside the vehicle to facilitate explanations since the group is all together. In the attractions themselves, the guide go along to clarify doubts when necessary.
In this specific case you mentioned what happened at the Jewish Community Center, the whole group waited with the guide and nobody in the group, including your husband, knew where you had gone. Efraim put the whole group in one place and went looking for you. We are deeply sorry that you feel frustrated after your tour because we all work hard and try to give all of our clients the best experience possible. Once again we thank you for your testimony and we hope to have clarified your comment.

Katya (Kathie) was great. It was good to visit the various synagogues which were all different. The Jewish Museum is rather sad for a Jewish community as large as it is in Rio - just one room in an office block. Yitzchak Rabin park is not accessible at the moment. Enjoyed it but overall not masses to see.

Whenever I travel outside the United Staes I also try to include a Jewish content to my visit. This was a great morning full of Jewish heritage and history. Leonardo was so personable. The tour was personalize to our interests. It also served as a wonderful introduction to the whole city of Rio De Janeiro.
