Too crowed and too loud music

The crowd was overwhelming and the music was way too loud. The transit process was a mess; we were moved from one shuttle to another without anyone explaining what was going on. To top it off, our host wouldn't stop asking for tips. The island is crowed and no where to sit with 2.5-3 hours on the beach. There are old and broken lounge chairs. when it was time to go, it seems everyone was ready and pushing and shoving to get in a smaller and different boat going back. Very frustrating experience.

Pick up arrived 45 minutes late, Transportation was chaotic and in dated and dirty bus with several cockroaches on the walls The boats were overcrowded to the point that it was unsafe, the food was horrible (watered down spaghetti, chicken, and few other items and a huge line that took like 20 minutes. The drinks in the catamaran were a joke and again overcrowded that there were not even enough spots to sit. The guide Nestor did not add much, but kept peddling for tips and to sell other items he got commissions on. On the trip back, we again had to wait 45 minutes for the buses to sort who was going where, they had the list and should have done that ahead of time. Instead kept shifting people from one bus to the other. They even allowed a visibly belligerent drunk to get on the bus. The positives: The staff was friendly and engaging The natural pool was really the highlight.

Lost at Sea

Most of the excursion is spent traveling to/from Saona. You will spend 4+ hours traveling by van/boat to the location and another 1.5 hours traveling back. If you're ok with that, then the 1.5 -2 hours you spend visiting the island will be worthwhile.

The overall experience was excellent. You should know it's all day. Due to the transportation and the stops. Please be prepared. The get from one boat to the next is dangerous. You will need waterproof bags because they will get wet. Overall boat ride and island was great and beautiful.

Great Beaches and fun Catamaran Experience

Communication with the operator was great. However, the boarding process was extremely slow. The tour officially started with pickup at 7:00 AM, but we didn’t get on the boat until around 11:30 AM. We spent about 30 minutes at the Blue Lagoon and roughly 90 minutes on Saona Island. The lunch served on Saona was decent and pretty typical for this kind of excursion. The island itself felt overcrowded, and we couldn’t find any beach chairs, so overall the experience felt a bit overrated in my opinion. That said, both beaches were beautiful — very clean, with crystal-clear turquoise water — which definitely made the trip worthwhile. The catamaran ride was enjoyable, with good music and a fun atmosphere. The crew could have been a bit more professional, but they were overall friendly and welcoming.

Unfortunately, this experience was very disappointing. The lunch was honestly really bad and everything felt messy, overcrowded, and stressful instead of enjoyable. The tour lasted around 12 hours, which became exhausting, especially because we were almost the last people dropped off at our hotel. What bothered us the most was that they tried to charge extra for absolutely everything. Photos, mamajuana, and many small things that felt like they should already be included kept turning into additional costs. It started to feel more like a constant sales pitch than a relaxing experience. We expected a fun and organized day, but overall it felt overwhelming and not worth the money. I would not recommend it unless you are prepared for lots of upselling and a very long day.

We were not told we would have to take two different transports. We had no idea what was going on until we got to the boat. There was so many up charges, hats, charged for drinks only a dollar but listening says drinks included. Got to the island and there were more up charges. If you wanted a pineapple drink 10. Wanted lobster you had to pay for it. I would not take this trip again. Trip time was 10 hours total. Listing needs to be updated with these details.

Chaotic, unorganised, poor communication

The transfer seemed chaotic and unorganised. We were initially picked up and after around 10 mins stopped at a service station. Here we stayed for around 30 mins where people got on and off the mini bus with no communication to explain what was happening. We were then told to get off the bus and wait. Again no further communicatkon until we asked what was happening. Eventually we were taken to another minibus which took us to another stop for souvenirs. Eventually we made our way to the port and arrived around 2.5 hours after pick up. We were then taken to a catamaran which had approx 200 people on board - it was so full people actually chose to get off at this point. The island itself was gorgeous although we only had 1.5 hours here which was a shame. The shallow water stop was also lovely on the return however no starfish visible. When we returned to the port we were again stood around for approx 20-30 mins whilst the „photographers“ tried to sell the pictures they had taken of people throughout the day. We eventually were taken back to the buses again with zero communication. Overall very poor experience, poor communication and the only information shared in English ironically was how and where we can tip the staff.
