The excursion was great. Luis Miguel. Was our instructor and he was great very knowledgeable nice accommodating. We did have a series of unfortunate events that happened to our excursion out of any of our control. However, Luis Miguel handled it in a super professional manner he should get all the raises and all the kudos.

Fun ATV ride. Prepare to get DIRTY!!. I can recommend this without reservations. The ATVs seemed to go faster than the buggies, but buggy riders get dirtier.
Yu_C, Apr 2026
the ATV ride was no thrill since you have to follow very closely at a very low speed... was expecting more excitement from it... the water cave is super cold and looks muddy. it's dark and deep, requires good swimming skill and caution for sure... the coffee stop was not very impressive.

Excellent. Felix the cat was the best tour guide. We had a great time. The cenote, the ATVs, coffee, and beach were amazing !!!!
Anoli_M, Nov 2025
The worst experience! Do not use these people for anything. Very unprofessional. Made us wait for over an hour as their transportation wasn’t ready. And we all were bitten by 1000s of mosquitoes.
NikaNusdorfer, Nov 2025
The cenote is a scam, also the tastings.. not worth it. The only good thing is the beach.
Good photographer

This review comes much later, as I debated whether or not to write it but I feel it's important to share my experience.
We booked this excursion (Feb 12, 2025 morning) and were not picked up from our hotel, even though the pickup location was clearly indicated. When we called the company, we were told they didn’t see our booking because it was made on the morning of the tour even though the tour itself was scheduled for the afternoon. Despite this, Viator had already charged my credit card CAD $157.92.
I spoke to Tomas from the tour company right away (on Feb 12, 2025), who assured me that he would cancel the booking and issue a refund that same evening. That didn’t happen. I followed up via message the same day, and he responded saying he would look into it but again, there was no follow-up. I messaged once more (Feb 17, 2025) asking for an update, and never heard back.
Aside from losing the $157.92, we also lost a full day of our vacation in Punta Cana. If Viator or the tour company had simply indicated that same-day bookings weren’t accepted or available, we would have made other plans. Instead, we waited around, wasted our time, and missed out on other experiences we could have enjoyed at a vacation that we spent vacation days and money on.
Why accept a booking, charge a credit card, then claim you never received the booking and still not follow through on a promised refund?
Life got busy, and for a while I let it go. But this isn’t how respectful, paying customers should be treated. We all work hard for our money, and honesty, transparency, and accountability should matter.
I would still like my refund. If needed, I have screenshots of the WhatsApp messages between myself and the tour company.

The best part about this trip is it gets you off the resort and the stunning beauty of the DR. I've given 3 stars for that, and for the before-trip communication leading up - which was excellent.
We were picked up at 2pm for the 3pm trip in an open, safari style vehicle and driven to the location. Then we signed waivers, and were told to buy bandanas (5usd) and goggles (15 usd) and that they were mandatory. The girls at the front desk were great.
The cons:
The tour guide I had to speak to at length about not paying for a 3rd person (I booked solo, then communicated with the tour folks beforehand my friend would like to join and had negotiated price. He said he had a booking for 3 and we needed to pay more, but after showing messages and receipts didn't.)
I didn't feel like there was any safety briefing, and the helmets we were given were very loose. I needed to go back to get one that wouldn't cover my eyes.
We waited for about 40 mins for the rest of the group to join. (3:30ish)
The biggest problem was the ATV had an engine light on, the steering was stiff and the gas handle had tape / was jerky. I started riding, but ultimately felt uncomfortable and swapped with my friend who's a better driver, but she had difficulty as well. At the last leg of the trip, one of the guides swapped bikes with us - that was way smoother. I wish they had checked the bikes more thoroughly beforehand.
The stops were really brief: 5 minutes at the lagoon (which is more of a smaller cave with lots of folks.) the cigarette/ coco tasting was a shop with a 2 minute 'demonstration' which was really just showing is what coco and coffee beans look like and pitching buying. I wish there was more information/ it was more of a process / in depth experience. If you're looking for that learning piece- maybe this isn't for you.
Highlight was Macao beach. There's alot of sargasm / seaweed in Punta cana now and there was comparably little on the beach. Great waves too!

Very fun. Tour guide was great and the excursions were great as well. No complaints. Highly recommended
Chelsea_B, Jul 2025
It was okay: not much time on ATV for it to be an atv excursion. Also, it could have had some better views. It was kind of boring
Response from Host, Jul 2025
We completely understand. Perhaps there were things you didn't like, while others did. We apologize for the inconvenience. Thank you for your comment.

***SCAM ALERT*** The original description did not include leaving the hotel to be picked up; we deliberately avoided booking excursions that operate that way for safety concerns. While you’d only have to meet them at the gate and most resorts will offer transport to it, there are many valid reasons that reputable resorts do not allow just any excursion operator to come through. They neglected to inform us of these inappropriate pick-up arrangements until after 9pm the night before (within 24 hours of the start time) and used the timing as a reason to refuse our refund request. Their second reason for refusing a refund, after appealing on the basis that this new information was not provided before the 24 hours, was that it does not bother other people. This operator clearly does not care about their patrons beyond the money grab. We did NOT attend as I’m sure it would’ve been as shady an experience as their customer service. I understand they likely don’t have too many repeat customers as it’s a tourist destination, but that’s no reason to essentially steal someone’s money. They know that information deters people from booking so they deliberately wait to tell you until they have a valid reason to refuse a refund. Otherwise, they would’ve tried harder to keep our attendance and/or do more to make us happier about canceling, in my opinion. Best of luck if you still choose to book!

The ATV riding was a lot of fun, although shorter than anticipated. Felix was a fun and helpful guide. The water cave was a nice, quick stop, but the coffee/chocolate tasting wasn't the cultural experience I had hoped for. It was a sales pitch and time to buy Dominican products.
The ride to Macao beach was the best part of the trip, and we enjoyed swimming for about 25 minutes. If you're really looking to get dirty (mud-soaked), go for the buggy rides. You stay pretty clean on the ATVs.
The worst part of the experience was the shuttle. We received notification of our pick-up time and location less than 12 hours before the excursion. We were picked up 1.5 hours before the excursion was supposed to begin, and we were the second of 4 groups to be picked up. The shuttle was uncomfortable, and we had to wait 10 minutes for the 3rd group to come out, and 25 minutes for the 4th group to join us. I expect this was because of how late we all received notification about pick-up times and locations.
By the time we got to the location to begin the activity, we were hot, tired, and annoyed. It might be worth getting a ride to the starting location to avoid the shuttle.

The tour was fun BUT at times it felt rushed and the staff seemed “irritated. ” To start I reached out a couple days in advance to confirm pick up place and I didn’t hear back until the evening before our trip which had me irritated. Come to find out we had to get a “security staff” from our resort to drive us in the golf cart to the front gate because they’re truck couldn’t come into the property, which overall took more time than expected (since we didn’t know this well in advance) we were placed on an open cattle like transport with dust flying in our eyes the entire 25 minute drive. Got to the place and then had to buy face covers and goggles for our eyes, which are all insanely expensive. Luckily we already had some gear(just not enough) the goggles were $20 A PiECE and bandana to cover nose and mouth were $7 each. The tour guy seemed passive aggressively nice and kept telling us he was tired and “we had to go”. We spent maybe 10 minutes at the cave with 15 people trying to experience it quickly. There were annoying hagglers everywhere walking alongside everyone forcing themselves on us to buy “anything” including children handing out free flowers from trees that just wanted money in some way. The beach was beautiful and the actual drive was fun, but being my son burnt his leg on 4x4, the haggling and price gouging was insane. The pictures upon return were nice but he told us they were $150. Didn’t even want to sell us 1,2 or 3 sparely. Said the package of all pictures would be the option, so clearly they don’t want to make money. I would never pay $150 for only 15-20 pictures of our family and that aren’t professional. So if your new to traveling or don’t want to deal with the little nuances, please book through tour hotel for another 4x4 excursion. It is so fun and theres a ton of them out there.

Fun 4x4 ATV excursion. Muddy so dress in clothes/shoea you don't mind getting messy. Guides were patient, knowledgeable and fun. Great pics for memories. The water Cave was beautiful and the beach was the best we saw during our stay in Punta Cana! Coffee, tea and a variety products were at a good cost. Guide told who to buy from and where to stay away.
Haley_F, May 2025
Had a really fun time! The ATV ride was fun! Each stop is EXTREMELY rushed and people were trying to sell you things non-stop but we still had a fun time!
Dennis_C, May 2025
Overall, well worth the experience for the price. As others have commented would take the ATV over the buggy, you will still get muddy but significantly less. The views of the cave and beach were well worth it. Just to nitpick, they will really try to push the photos at the end of the tour to the tune of $80 (which is high by US standards). If you really want them, they are willing to negotiate significantly. The equipment is also a bit beat and has seen better days, only one set of handbrakes worked on our ATV.
Sandra_E, May 2025
Firstly it looks nothing like the pictures. All we did was ride on flat dirt or paved roads - tangled with other dune buggies - crowded/ had to wait to pass single file. No mountains, no hills, no green open spaces. WORST yet after our tour guide asked us about 10 times "no one is pregnant? We don't want to hurt the babies" MY BACK WHEEL came off and the ATV almost tipped over on me mid mud puddle. I had to jump off to save myself. Many of the ladies in our group had ATVs with breaks that did not work. Our guide kept rushing us and it became a game of bumper cars as we crashed into the ATV in front of us. So much for safety first. Plus the chocolate/coffee portion was a joke. We couldn't understand the speaker, he gave a 2 minute speech about the process, they served SCALDING hot samples and were SUPER pushy about making sales. Not a real coffee or chocolate farm just a building on the ATV property. VERY DISAPPOINTED.
Angela_B, May 2025
Unsafe…had a tire fall off of one ATV and several others had brakes that were not working. Was rushed at each location… would pass on chocolate tasting for more time at beach location
Michele_C, May 2025
ATVs didn't have working brakes, tour guide kept asking if we were pregnant, stops were rushed, it's NOT a chocolate and coffee tasting.... it's here's a tiny sample of hot chocolate, tea, and coffee.....yelled at for not driving fast enough, bombarded with people selling things that won't take no for an answer. DO NOT CHOOSE THIS PLACE!!!!!
Heather_K, May 2025
Here are the lows and highs:
LOWS:
ATVS were not in great condition. We had a group of 14 people, half the breaks didn’t work, one a Wheel fell off and tipped OVER! That could have been a catastrophe!
I was burned on my leg bc the water created a bunch of steam-
No tips or tricks were given, since the ATVs were not in the best condition so people were smacking into one another. Lots of busy tours on the trails… people getting stuck or breaking down, so a LOT of stopping.
Lots of pressure to buy photos- they would t tell you the price. The chocolate and coffee place could have been skipped
Highs:
Tour guides were great! The Macao beach was gorgeous! Drinks were $15+ USD each for a small cup…
The driver that picked us up in a Jungle bus (looks like something you would take on a safari)was very nice.

This was a great adventure. Felix and Freeman made sure we had a good time and were safe. I would do it again!

My 2 friends and I booked this excursion with high hopes for some fun ATV riding and experience outside of our resort. Unfortunately on the day of the excursion it was pouring rain, and when we arrived, we were immediately greeted with very hostile and unfriendly tour guides. One of them walked around to all the women in our tour group asking if we were pregnant and even touching stomachs asking “are you sure?”, along with making other misogynist comments. They then proceeded to get us all loaded onto the ATVs without any instruction, while yelling orders at us. The biggest red flag was an obvious lack of caring for safety of the guests. I felt compelled to write this review because of HOW MUCH OF AN ISSUE THIS WAS throughout the excursion. Most concerningly, the brakes on my ATV barely worked, and there was a four car collision when we were rounding a corner. I ran into the person in front of me because my brakes did not work, and then got rear ended so forcefully I slide forward and almost fell off my ATV while ending in a laying-down position on the seat. Rather than asking if I was OK, the guides drove up and starting YELLING at me to drive while I was still sprawled in a horizontal position and recovering from the impact of being hit. Later on, they tried to charge the two women who had rear ended me $30 for breaking their ATV because they had hit me so hard. However, if the company’s equipment was safe and they had briefed us, the collision likely would have not happened. The three stops were all money-making schemes where locals surround you once you step off ATV. The stops and ATV route looked nothing like the pictures, and unfortunately there was very little time actually spent on the ATVs. The route is in a small local town, and it was neat to see true Dominican culture outside of the resort. My best advice is to read reviews find another excursion company who prioritizes safety of their guests!!!!
LaMont_G, Apr 2025
Too many solicitation on tour. Not enough riding of the ATVs for the money, site said it was $53 but it was actually$108. Left site to return just to leave again. Wasn't worth the money
Eugene_K, Apr 2025
New and exciting thanks to Felix and his team. The trail was clean, the cave was different and the beach was simply beautiful
cheryl_c, Apr 2025
Sketchy. 3 stops with sales pitches at each stop. With built in time for sales people to continually pressure you to purchase. This was not at ATV adventure. We drove ATVs to the cave and drove them to chocolate/coffee tasting, and drove to the beach. There was no free driving around, but just following the lead driver from one sales place to the next. Our ATV only had 1 brake. Guy behind us had no brakes. I would never do this again and would not recommend for anyone else to do this either.
Steven_H, Mar 2025
In summation this trip is:
1. 5 minute ATV ride to the cave.
2. 20 minutes at the cave, which in fairness is very cool, but us surrounded by aggressive shopkeepers. At this stage when I told my tour guide that I had left my wallet at the ATV main building on purpose he was cross with me and angrily asked me why.
3. 5 minute ATV ride to the "typical Dominican house". On other tours they may try to sell you that this is an actual house but this one does not even go as far as to try that, which in a way I respect. It is just a shop, where you are again asked to purchase "homemade" Dominican goods, this time being guilt tripped by telling you purchases go towards a school for blind children. The vendors here were not as pushy and the free samples are actually quite tasty.
4. 8 minute ATV ride to Macao beach.
5. 40 minutes at Macao beach. Some vendors but nothing too bad. You just kind of hang out here.
6. 8 minute ATV ride back to the main building. Our tour had a photographer who took some decent photos but wanted $70 US for the collection and they were certainly not worth that.
Overall let me be clear: THIS IS A TOURIST TRAP EXCURSION WITH EXTREMELY LIMITED TIME ON THE ATVS. It is not a wilderness tour and you don't get a lot of driving time. Our tour guide as nasty and had a bad attitude for the entire trip despite no one in our 4 person your group giving him any grief other than not purchasing cheap tourist goods. I'd rather find another your next time with more ATV time in the actual forest
Joshua_V, Mar 2025
very good excursion. guide was nice. atv was also very worth it. fhey bring u to this shack which sells coffee, mamajuana, cacao and cigars
BillCal, Mar 2025
We arrived 10 minutes early to the pick up location and our transportation arrived early as well. 45 minutes later we arrived at the location we the adventure began. Felix ( the crazy cat) was our host. he was warm and friendly and lead us on the journey.
Adelaida_S, Mar 2025
Our excursion was super organized and led by friendly guides. We felt totally safe and had an amazing time. The pick-up was on time, the equipment was reliable, and it was great to be part of a group. We spent about 30 minutes at each stop, and I wish we could have stayed longer at the beach. There’s not much time to order food and drinks, and enjoy them before we have to head back.
