I had an amazing time with the horseback riding experience! It was perfect for beginners, and riding along the picturesque beach was a highlight. The beach itself is stunning, and the friendly staff made the adventure even better. They even took our pictures while we rode, capturing those memorable moments beautifully. Plus, the transportation was seamless and hassle-free. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a fun day out!

Signed up for a horse back ride, but recieved a first-person experience as the main characters in a horror/thriller movie. The logistics of transportation and the tour made my wife and I felt unsafe, which put us on edge the entire excursion. Everything that could of went wrong, did go wrong on the excursion.
The logistics of transportation was unorganized/uncoordinated. First, there was confusion on whether we get picked up at our resort lobby or the security gate. Second, we were told they are changing our driver 30 minutes before our pickup up time. Lastly, our driver stopped on the side of the road at a beat up location next to another van. This is where it all went downhill fast from our perspective.
Due to language barriers and no communications, we genuinely felt like we were being kidnapped. We were told to go into the other van that we stopped next to. Meanwhile, the drivers were exchanging large sums of cash infront of us. This situation put us on alert for the rest of the trip. We drove off with YET ANOTHER NEW DRIVER as our stress levels rose. There was temporary relief as we picked up another party and drove towards the "ranch". Total trip time for us was 1 hr.
As we arrived into the "ranch" our stress began to rise again. The ranch was a small cocoa/tobacco farm with a beat up shack with a mini gift shop. At this time, we have not met our tour guide yet. As we were shepparded to the shack, we were offered coffee and a local drink (mamajuana). But due to our transportation experience and stress, we were suspicious that the drinks were spiked. We were somewhat relieved when our driver also tried the drinks. Our tour guide arrived shortly after. This is where another mistake occurred.
The horses were supposed to be at the ranch at arrival, but due to backend miscommunication, they were located near Macao Beach. So, we were driven to the parking area at Macao Beach.
We arrived to the beach parking area and met up with the tour guide and horse handlers. Our driver drove away in a hurry. The handlers put me, the other man, and two women on the horses, leaving my wife and a teenage girl on the road. Now, the tour operation realized they made another mistake, since they were missing a horse for our party of 6. The tour guide and horse handlers were haggling, meanwhile all of us were confused and stressed. The surrounding was not welcoming as there were men in vehicles just watching us. Our thoughts of being kidnapped resurged. There was some relief as the parking area had people coming in and out from the beach. We were told to get off our horses as they figured out the situation. The horse handlers walked the horses towards the beach. Momentarily leaving us all confused on the side of the road. The tour guide and handlers walked away while we all stood next to the road like lost prey. Eventually, the tour guide waved us to come to the beach.
After many chaotic minutes of discussions with the tour guide, horse handlers, and horse owners on the beach. Our party of 6 got on our horses. The time is now 6pm, while we booked the tour for 4:30 pm. We had a short 1 hour "tour."
The beach was beautiful. It was during golden hour, the waves were hypnotic, and there was a rainbow. The horses riding experience on the beach momentarily made us forget about the miserable/scary situation prior. At the end of the tour, we were riding along a road. We weren't told ahead of time of our route, so again, thoughts of being kidnapped resurfaced. We were relieved to see the ranch that previously caused us concern.
The tour guide refunded 100% of the cost due to the chaos. The refund prevented this review from being 1 star. The tour guide was as pleasant to us as possible as he was handling the chaos and making sure we were OK. His words brought some calm to us throughout the experience. Throughout the tour, he assured us this was the first time this chaos has happened, as we all voiced our displeasure of the unorganized experience.
The transportation back to our resorts went smoothly. What a relief.

Where to start...completely confusing and ever changing pickup instructions...complete lack of actual, or appearance of safety. Very few of the handlers (which included kids as young as ten) spoke decent enough english. They insisted my 9yo daughter could/should ride on her own despite being a first-timer. Her feet didn't even reach the stirrups and there was nothing keeping her on the horse besides sheer luck. At one point her horse took off galloping and I had to scream to get someone's attention to catch up and stop her horse. The beach is full of trash the entire way...if you don't look down I suppose it's pretty. After a couple short laps up and down the beach, we sat and waited without instructions for 25 minutes, before again, in indiscernable english, they asked us to get back on the horses to take them back to "el rancho". This was another 45 minute ride in which we were clearly tasked to commute the horses back home for the night, through the random concrete back streets of town at dusk...no idea where we were, who we were with, or where we were going. Not the remotest sense of personal safety. At one point, the leader pulled my horse from an off-street wooded area onto a sidewalk, which crushed my leg and arm between the horse and a telephone pole...I'm all scraped up to show for it. The prize for surviving this journey was an offer to buy the photos they took for $120 USD! It's implausible that these Viator reviews are authentic. Frankly, it's scary that Viator even sponsors excursions without verifying some minimum level of safety and accuracy.

Not a great experience!
The horses seemed healthy and bright, but the saddles were extremely uncomfortable, and our guide kept wanting to trot all the time. A rising trot was impossible as the gait was very fast and uneven and a sitting trot is very uncomfortable if one has a bad back and DD girls up front!!
And then it started to rain - proper Caribbean big rain - warm but very very heavy. We were absolutely soaked and decided to call it a day after 15 minutes. We would not have seen the sunset through the cloud anyway.
Altogether a disappointing trip, some of which was down to the weather, but I think it would not have lived up to expectations even if it had been fine.

This excursion was amazing. The view and the vibe made it worth it. Horseback riding along the beach while watching the sunset- you can't beat the views. They had a professional photographer on site- worth it! I was running a bit late on my pickup. I was in full communication with my driver- needless to say, he waited on me. Which was surprising to me. I totally would recommend this excursion.

Really expected more. The horses seemed malnourished and the operation was mediocre at best. First, they started with a shoo tour which was ok, I get it but getting less than 10 items amounted to over $230 and all we wanted was coffee, a few magnets, some coconut oil and a bracelet. Chained up dogs aligned the fence posts and the tour wasn’t guided and we ended up going on a public street with multiple trucks and cars passing us and it didn’t feel safe. Next, it seemed like they were abusive to the horses and pushed them while we were on a beach taking pictures. They also kept hitting the horses with sticks to make them go forward and an uncomfortable speed. It wasn’t what I expected from a vacation experience and they seem more focused on trying to upsell you mediocre products then trying to ensure that you had a great time riding your horse. Would not recommend anybody that’s coming. You’re expecting to have a good time on an excursion with family and friends.

This experience was not desirable. Starting from the vehicle pickup, we got in someone's personal car who we could barely communicate with. There was no sign indicating that car was for us, and after being in the car for 5 minutes I got a phone call that our driver was looking for us... that was a scary thought to think we got in the wrong car.
Our guide was friendly. The horse I rode was poorly behaved, so riding the 2 mile stretch down roads amongst other vehicles was stressful. Then we got to the beach, took pictures, and were directed over to the bar where the "included drinks" cost $50 USD.
We then rode back to the plantation where my horse uncontrollably ran through muddy trails until we arrived. I was then asked for another $20 USD to cover our drinks and then had to sit through an uncomfortable sales pitch to get me to buy the low quality pictures for another $120.
Overall this was not a good experience and I would recommend booking with a different horse riding experience.

I was very scared but they were friendly. The only thing I didn't like was that it was a very far route to get to the beach. We rode the horses there and back. I also didn't like how they were trying to upsell me.

I definitely recommend getting the private package especially if there’s a birthday. Overall great experience we toasted champagne ate cakes and parted in the first part. There was a tour as well they grow things locally and they have a great photographer that captures great pictures for good prices. Horses are also well behaved and easy to work with :)

The experience was fun. The horses are docile and the staff are friendly. There are dogs, cats, and chickens roaming around too. We had a wonderful time!
However, the beach and the surrounding area is covered with trash. It is disappointing for what is otherwise a beautiful area. I felt bad that the horses had to walk over it. Also, they upcharge their items. They were selling magnets for $20 that we got for $5 at another place. Veterinary care is a lot of money so I understand, but please be aware.
We were charged $100 for the pictures that were airdropped to our phone.

Our experience was great, very friendly and helpful and they picked us up and dropped us off which was a decently long ride away. I had seen a couple reviews saying the horses were “starved” but the horses were definitely not starved there were a couple pretty old ones which were not ridden as far as we saw which may be what people were mistaking for them being starved.

Didn’t provide anything we requested in the VIP package. No pictures, WiFi, drinks, sunset, English tour guide nothing at all. Then an employee got flustered we spoke up about their service and switched our transportation twice. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone the beach is nice but you can get that with anyone else do not book with this provider.

The staff was nice, but I wouldn’t recommend. They take you around their small garden, and take pictures of you. Then they get you on a horse, I’m short and they have me the biggest horse, which didn’t make sense. The area you place your foot, was broken, where it cut up my foots and they didn’t fix it. The horses were not clean, and the ride was only about 10 minutes each way. They make you pay for the pictures they take of you, and beg for a 5 star review at the end of the trip. I wouldn’t recommend this.

We were under the impression that it will be horse riding on a beach. There wan only a picture taken on the beach. The riding was on roads that had lot of regular traffic. It is quite risky to ride horse with other traffic for most new riders.

Fun experience! First time using this company. Everyone was very friendly and ensured we all had a good time. They gave good instructions and ensured everyone had a basic understanding and could control their horses before departing. The horses were good natured, very tame, and easy to ride. While riding to and from the beach we encountered some funny barking/yappy small dogs and the horses didn’t mind them at all, not spooked or any kind of reaction. The horses appeared to be well taken care of as well. If you aren’t an experienced rider, you’ll be fine! Beautiful beach!

Good but not great experience - Miguel took great photos on our phone and helped us feel confident on the horse. But he didn’t offer any knowledge on the area or where we were etc. The professional photos are not 100% and they do over charge so negotiate the price down. Also the pick up experience is a shoddy - they can’t come inside your hotel but they do keep open communication so it’s ok. The beach itself is not well kept and it’s a bit dirty but the sunset was beautiful and it made the experience worthwhile. I recommend going about 1 hour before sunset.

The family were awesome and the ride was amazing. Eventually you come into Macao Beach, which is stunning!! I even got to gallop thru the surf! Unforgettable experience and loved everyone we interacted. Their pics and videos were awesome also!!

Our driver was late, his car was disgustingly dirty and beat up. He never even got out of the car to greet us and never said a word to us either way. When we arrived at the horses, it was just someone house with animals. No running water in the bathroom, no where to wash your hands. The horse looked emancipated and very unhealthy. Never seen so many open wounds on a horse in my life. They were covered in bugs and flies. I refused to ride the horse. This was a very expensive private tour gone wrong. The horses were sad looking, old and biting people. Please do not support this excursion. It’s simply animal cruelty!!!! The staff tried their best to be supportive and helpful. Was suppose to be a sunset ride (my husband still rode a horse) was not and the tour only lasted about 30 mins. I wish I could get a full refund!

Good ridethrough the woods (jungle?) and on the beach, but asking $120 for pics is (to me) outrageous. I was expecting to be overcharged for pic, but not to that extent...oh, and use big spray! Not sure what biting nastys tried eating my daughter but she ended up with some insane welts from big bites.
