Itinerary

Prague is known for its historical landmarks that date as far back as the Gothic and Renaissance eras, but when you’re ready to move forward a few hundred years, this private walking tour of the city’s Art Nouveau and Cubist architecture introduces you to a more recent history of the city.

With your private guide, learn about the design aspects of Art Nouveau, from ornate light fixtures to curvy typography on signs that echoed the contemporary posters and magazines of the day. Spot interesting features on the façades of buildings, such as gingko biloba leaves, which reveal the style’s oriental influences. Visit the Lucerna Bar, once owned by Vaclav Havel’s family, and see the K+K Hotel Central Prague; both of these venues illustrate a moment of Czech optimism at the turn of the 20th century, signaling the country’s readiness to join Europe by participating in avant-garde trends.

Fun and informative tour

Scott_B, Nov 2025
Robert Wesley was our guide. He was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic, making the tour both fun and educational. He met us at our Airbnb and introduced himself as Czech born but with a Nigerian father. Between stories about each fantastic building, we also learned about his colorful personal history. The 3 hour tour does involve a lot of walking and is not suitable for the mobility impaired. Wesley made the tour a memorable part of our visit to Prague.

Thank you for the wonderful review. We're so pleased you enjoyed it. Hoping to see you on another Insight Cities tour in Prague, Berlin, Budapest, Vienna, or Salzburg. Safe travels!

Bonita wove together her...

Bonita wove together her expansive knowledge of history, culture, art, and architecture to create an amazing experience of the many art nouveau and cubist gems in Prague. If I'd known ahead of time that the tour would be this good, it would have been on my bucket list.
