Itinerary

During the Middle Ages, the silver mines of Kutna Hora brought fame to the lands of the Czech Crown, making this town the richest and most powerful in the region. Today, the mining town boasts several UNESCO World Heritage-listed sites and retains its medieval architecture, history, and heritage.

Your tour begins with pickup in central Prague. Hop aboard your coach and begin the journey toward Kutna Hora.

Upon arrival, follow your guide to discover the area’s top sites. Admire the Gothic design of St. Barbara's Cathedral, dedicated to the patron saint of miners, and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Stop at the former royal mint that once manufactured Prague groschen and gold ducats. Visit the Sedlec Ossuary, also known as the "Bone Church," a small chapel estimated to display the skeletons of 40,000 to 70,000 people, each arranged artistically to form the chapel’s décor.

Your tour concludes with transportation back to your original departure point in Prague.

Kutna Hora, CZ half day bus trip

Jason_K, Mar 2026
Very good experience. Guide provided lots of information about what we saw. Bus was prompt. Sights were historical and interesting.

Really disappointed

Jesse_W, Jan 2026
Honestly, was particularly disappointed. The vast majority of our group had taken tour to see Sedlec Ossuary. The guide was a lovely old guy but just wanted to talk about everything and it was simply too much. You don’t retain the information especially when you’re freezing. After a delayed arrival to the ossuary we were given like 5-10 minutes. Felt like an absolute blur and a waste of an opportunity. The rest of the tour we just wanted to see and take pics of the more interesting things but again while other groups were exploring we were Standing there listening to more and more waffle that became less and less interesting as we got to see less and less. Overall probably the most disappointing tour we had in Europe.

The bone church was much...

Gloria_L, Oct 2025
The bone church was much smaller in scale than expected. Visited two other churches, overall a very quiet little town but unremarkable. Ok for half day trip.

Great day trip from Prague.

Great day trip from Prague. The bone church and Kutna Hora are definitely worth a visit if you have the time.

Great side trip from Prague

Marie_H, Oct 2025
Beautiful town and church and our guide Helen was very knowledgeable and interesting. She was engaged with us

Very Informative Guide

Michele_S, Aug 2025
Our guide Helen was wonderful. She was provided us with a lot of information about not only Kutna Hora but also about Prague that as a visitor we did not know.

Sites were amazing, tour guide wasn’t

Ria_D, Aug 2025
The sites visited were all amazing - especially Sedlec which had been a “must see” for us. Downsides - it’s hard to find the pick up point. It’s not clear that you need to go to the yellow Prague City Tours booth to get on the tour - there was no Viator branding visible. The guide, whilst knowledgeable, talked so much that we felt we basically ran through some sites and we had almost no free time in Kutná Hora and only ten minutes at Sedlec. He also made some misogynistic jokes ie pointing at a fiat 500 and saying “that’s the perfect car for a woman to park because it’s small”

Kutna Hora and a lot of bones!

Wayne_S, Aug 2025
Great day out of the huddle of Prague. Lots of history and wonderful stories. The time in the church with the bone chandelier was a bit too quick though.

It was okay but uncomfortable bus

Linda_H, Jul 2025
Bus seats were uncomfortable and motor noise made hearing guide difficult. Enjoyed seeing the sights. You couldn’t take pictures in ossuary but you could take photos of pictures on walls which is just as good. Cute but sleepy little town. Had a good lasagna at the Italian restaurant during lunch break. Group of people was so big it made hearing the guide difficult.

Great half day trip to Kutna Hora

Kathleen_W, Jun 2025
We had a lovely afternoon trip to Kutna Hora! Our guide was very knowledgeable and shared so much about the area, from Prague to Kutna Hora. We also had beautiful weather. Great partial day trip to get away from the city. Thanks so much!

Would recommend

Catherine_S, Apr 2025
The guide was excellent and provided lots of information. Maybe it should be mentioned that you cannot take photos in the Bone Church before anyone books the trip.

Perfect day out

Brian_M, Apr 2025
Lovely day out visiting the cathedral and the chapel of the bones. The town was quintessentially Czech and the nutty cake recommended by the guide was delightful

If you have time to spare

Christine_B, Mar 2025
The guide was great and knowledgeable. The churches visited were interesting. It was nice to get out to the big city, however be aware that the ride from Prauge and back is through heavy traffic and will take you around 2 hours both ways. For me, this made for a long trip on a crowded bus. If you are only in the area for a short time, I would suggest exploring the palaces and churches in town. Fyi, photos in the bone church are strictly forbidden. If you're a photo freak like me, you will find this disappointing. Yes, we need to be respectful of the dead, but I'd rather be free to take my own photos than purchase photos already taken by someone else and sold at an upcharge in the gift shop.

Great trip

Niamh_m, Mar 2025
Really enjoyed this day trip to kutna hora it was excellent especially loved seeing the bone church !!

Fantastic

Nalini_B, Feb 2025
It's a great experience with lady guide huluana ( sorry I might hve mispronounced) she is thorough with all the facts and figures. Her way of explaining the things is superb. Booking this tour through viator is super easy. The Barbara cathedral is awesome She is very humorous. , made our experience memorable. Place was awesome. Learnt a lot about it's history, especially silver mine.

Meh… it was okay.

Elizabeth_B, Nov 2024
I went to see the Church of. Ones but it was a tourist trap. They charge for everything-and won’t let you take pictures. No guide unless you pay for it. However the Saint Barbara Cathedral is spectacular and the town is super cute. Lots of tiny shops and cobblestone streets. The guide provided on the tour knew her information by rote but struggled with English to answer questions. I give this a1/2 rating as it wasn’t a waste of time, but less than spectacular.

So much more than expected

Kaye_M, Nov 2024
This visit to the township of Kutna Hora was wonderful. Not only did we see the cathedral and the ossuary, we also gained an interesting explantation of who St Barbara was. And to the lives of the workers of Kutna Hora. And our lovely guide, Helene, kept us on time and engaged with the history. Just amazing 100% recommended.

It went pretty smoothly, Love you Helen.

Eleanor_P, Nov 2024
Santa Barbara Cathedral was awesome! Some people might complain about Helen talking too much but I didn’t mind it at all. She’s a little bit on the older side so she was sharing some of her life philosophies here and there. It was a good group of about 30 people, no one got lost, no acted stupid, we all got along. As for the town, it’s so charming and so easy to walk around in. I’ll be back to spend a night taking my time with this beautiful place.

SCAM

Myah_J, Oct 2024
Like a few other reviews on here, I was at the designated spot 20 minutes before the start time with no tour van in sight. I waited an additional 45 minutes after the start time till I left. I had received no messages and no calls. I tried calling the number provided twice to which they did not pick up and I did not get a call back. This tour is a scam, and would not recommend in the slightest

Very knowledgeable tour...

Laurie_W, Oct 2024
Very knowledgeable tour guide. It was nice to have someone explain to us specific sites during the trip there and back. Her knowledge of the site and its history added an extra touch and made the trip very enjoyable.

Kutna Hora was so cool

shalvi_s, Oct 2024
Helen was such an informative guide! Loved listening from her. It takes up the full day so eat a good lunch before you go.

Interesting Tour

Denise_M, Sep 2024
Great Tour, Great guide. She was very knowledgeable. Kutna Hora was very interesting to see. The village, Cathedral and Ossuary. Very glad we made the decision to go on this tour!

More to see than I thought!

Shanna_H, Sep 2024
I only knew about the church with the bones, so I was really impressed learning the history of the town, seeing the Cathedral, and walking around the town! Loved it!

A great day out.

David_v, Sep 2024
Suzanna was a brilliant guide. Full of life, stories and personality. A wicked sense of humour as well. Tour was a great excursion from Prague and perfect in terms of time spent in the locations and information given.

Educational

darrell_b, Sep 2024
Helen, our tour guide was great. Very informative with a great sense of humor. So glad We chose this day trip away from Prague to go on and ended up with Her as our guide. I'm sure we'll use Viator again on future trips after this experience.

Kutna hora for church of bones - Sedlec Ossuary

RAJENDRA_S, Sep 2024
Worthwhile 1.5 hours to Kutna Hora. The church of bones having sculptures made of these has total of ~50000 bodies multiplied by 206 bones each. Unfortunately photos not permitted and was disappointing. Understand there are 4 Sedlec Ossuaries in world. Other churches were also appealing with rich history.

Great Tour but didnt get a good guide

Candra_m, Aug 2024
We started off near the Powder Gate. The bus left on time. The tour was done in English and Spanish. I think the guide could do a better job by explaining a deeper history about Kutna Hora, how is this separated or included with Prague, whats special about the place etc. We had a 1.5 hour road trip but the history info was short, instead we learn how to say Thank you, how to order a beer in czech. When we arrive at the skull castle, she was surprised that she had to buy a ticket for us (which she didnt) so we had to wait for 10 mins (funny though in the description of the tour it says included 3 admissions of xyz). At the St Barbara, she did a 10-15 min overview and we were exploring it ourself, yet she didnt mentioned that we can scan the bar code stated in the brochure and listen to an audio guide. The tour itself is great, but i would check other tour provider for a better experience.

We spent too much time on the things that didn’t matter.

Simone_C, Aug 2024
The most important reason to go we rushed through. We spent a lot of time on ordinary things. It was overall disappointing.
