What To Expect

Select your tour option when you make your booking. Then, make your own way to the Choco-Story Gourmet Chocolate Museum (Musée Gourmand du Chocolat) in central Paris.

Show your ticket and head inside to explore the three floors of exhibits, displays and children’s activities as you wish. Home to more than 1,000 original artifacts teamed with information panels in English, French and Spanish, the museum offers a captivating window into the evolution of chocolate through the ages.

Stroll around the galleries, and trace the 4,000-year-old story of chocolate, from the discovery of the humble cocoa bean as an ingredient by the ancient Olmec peoples of South America. Learn how the Olmecs probably consumed chocolate as a drink from around 1,900 BC, and discover how it became a prized beverage of nobles, and part of the ceremonial rituals of the Aztec and Mayan civilizations, before its use spread via trading routes to Europe and beyond.

Enjoy the displays that illustrate the chocolate-making process through the centuries, and watch interactive demonstrations to see how contemporary chocolate is made enticingly shiny and smooth.

Pause to taste different varieties of chocolate from around the world that have been made on site. Delight in the silkiness of Costa Rican chocolate, experience the melt-in-your-mouth fruitiness of Peruvian chocolate, savor the aromas of cocoa beans from Vanuatu and more. As you indulge, ease your calorie-counting conscience by learning about chocolate’s proven health-giving benefits!

Then, if you’ve upgraded, sit down to a deliciously rich cup of hot chocolate, the perfect finale to your visit. And before leaving, head for the museum shop to browse the array of books, souvenirs and chocolate treats, and perhaps buy some goodies — edible or non-edible — as reminders of your time here.

Your experience then finishes when you exit the museum.

A nice place if you like chocolate and dont have any other plans, but would not be at my top of the list

A mustn't miss experience!

Karin_C, Sep 2025
A very informative presentation. So many historic examples of chocolate making equipment along with detailed explanations. I spent 3 hours there, examining the exhibits, reading the signs and taking photos. There are splendid examples of candy molds, tools and chocolate memorabilia, such as posters and chocolate sculptures. The audiovisual display are very well done too, detailing the progress from cocoa tree to finished product. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience, learning the history of chocolate. There were plenty of samples to taste too.

Wonderful explanation of all the ancient ways chocolate was made during the Aztec and my periods. It also delineated how it was so popular in the Monarch ages of France in the 1700s and 1800s.

Learned a lot about chocolate!

Kati_M, Oct 2024
The Chocolate Museum is fun and educational. I learned a lot. We were there on a Wednesday and it was not crowded. You do not need Viator to see the Chocolate Museum. We had to go on a different day than we had booked with Viator and it was very easy to get to with an Uber. They also have discounts for children and seniors. So much fun, if you LOVE chocolate!!

It gave a good historical perspective of things, but needs to just give free hand audio with the tour.

Sweet experience

Charles_D, Apr 2024
Nice experience that is educational and entertaining for adults and children. The all you can eat chocolate dispensers that allow visitors to experience the taste of chocolate throughout its history is a great touch.

We was very happy with the Choco Museum, Else was very accommodating and explained great information about the museum

Pretty good museum for kids

Dimitra_G, Sep 2023
This is a nice museum for kids. It is interesting. It is self guided tour and in the end the demonstration is all on video (no live person interaction) which was a little disappointing but the video was well made.

CHOCO museum a definite must do

Vanessa_M, Aug 2023
Was a great thing to do for 2 hours, self tour, very interesting and you can taste chocolate buttons as you go around, finish off buy buying a hot chocolate. Loved it

Good for price

Jane_H, Jul 2023
Easily found, straight forward access. Entirely self directed experience. Informative. Not as stimulating as the chocolate for tasting which was lovely but beware people , particularly children have a taste and put it back in the dish, so always decant a fresh sample. All in all good for the price.

Great visit

Jane_C, Jul 2023
All of it. Thank you. Nothing else to say. You are making me feel pressured now to say more. I could turn this into s negative review

Great Museum, Fun Concept

Sheila_H, Jun 2023
This little museum is very cool. Great story with awesome features and very clean place. It was a wonderful respite from all the hot crowds and pushy tourists. There were quite a few visiting the day we went but it wasn’t elbow to elbow. Staff was very nice as well!

Chocolate Knowledge

Sharon_C, Apr 2023
The Chocolate Museum was a fantastic part of our Paris tour. The history and information was so interesting. We enjoyed all the chocolate samples and the hot chocolate at the end of our tour.

Worth a visit!

Yasmin_K, Apr 2023
When we spoke to natives in Paris, they did not know about the Chocolate museum. We found it here on the Viator website and it was a great experience. We thought it would be an hour, we ended up being there for 2 1/2 hours as the kids were enjoying the activities. Highly recommend.

Good one

Ramya_R, Apr 2023
Very cute museum for kids; good ways to explore the origin of chocolate and how it’s made. Free chocolate buttons were yummy, also the tasters from the demo.

A bit disappointing, yet still interesting

Anneliese_T, Aug 2022
Although the history of cocoa and its production is interesting, I think it is better with children around. It is a self-guided tour and not crowded at all. We could taste chocolate (mainly dark chocolate) throughout the tour. And at the end of the tour you can get a cup of hot chocolate. Somehow, I expected more. I was hoping we could see how the chocolate is made and then get to taste the finished product. But it's all "theory"! But then, it DOES SAY MUSEUM!

Delicious experience

Connie_L, Jun 2022
It’s not a huge museum, which was a good thing. Enough diversity to keep you interested. I highly suggest the tour selection with the hot chocolate at the conclusion.

Fun experience

CLAUDIO_H, Jun 2022
It was great to walk through the experience of how cocoa is made and how it is now I’m our tables - the shop left a lot to be desired

Chocolate Museum

Allison_G, Jun 2022
We learned the history of chocolate making on a self-guided tour. We had unlimited samples of chocolates throughout the museum. The samples were great, but I expected to have more from different countries available.

Small place with some interesting items to see. The place was empty, so it only took us about 30 minutes to view everything and then experience the 15 minute demonstration. The hot chocolate was amazing and there were plenty of tastes to be had...

This is a small museum, but the kids loved the scavenger hunt and the chocolate samples were amazing. Only do the hot chocolate tickets if it is cooler. We went in July and it was too darn hot to enjoy the hot chocolate.

Aline_A, Apr 2017
We visited the Paris Museum of Chocolate on Friday 21st April. This very informative and interesting museum is conveniently located opposite the Bonne Nouvelle metro station on Line 8. My husband and I visited accompanied by our three grandchildren respectively aged 11, 10 and 7. They loved it and learned a lot of facts about chocolate - the tree, the beans, the countries producing the best chocolates, who first imported chocolate to Europe from South America, which various European queens and kings started the fashion of consuming great quantities of this delicious beverage, the various shapes of pots and cups in which it was served through the centuries, and how it started to be produced commercially and in large quantities during the 18th century, hence offered to the general public. Until then, it was a delicacy which could only be afforded and enjoyed by aristocracy or the privileged few. Printed vouchers are exchanged at the entrance and you are given tickets, which then allows you to have a cup of hot chocolate if you have purchased this option online at the end of the visit. There are various flavours to choose from. Children are provided with a booklet to complete and pencils, which must be surrendered at the end of the visit. The Museum has a good souvenir shop t-shirts, various sizes and shapes of chocolate to purchase, utensils and moulds to make chocolate at home, books etc... At the demonstration, visitors can watch a professional preparing praline chocolates which visitors can then taste freely. On arrival, visitors can also taste free of charge round drops of dark, white, milk and praline chocolate. If you visit with children as we did, who are hungry after the visit, there is a Pizza Hut restaurant right next to the Museum and a bistro at the corner. The Museum has three floors entrance level, then one upstairs and one in the basement and there is a lift for visitors who do not want to walk.
