Pierre Louis is so knowledgeable and we learned so much. He has a tremendous wealth of knowledge regarding Jewish history Parisian history and art. He taught us so many things that we never knew. This was a great tour and we recommend it to anyone who has an interest in Jewish history.

While Viator only allows whole star ratings, this was likely a 4.5 (which I rounded up). We loved the content and very much appreciated the benefit of being in a small group (just us and another couple). Our guide had an exceptional depth of knowledge and truly enjoyed sharing it with us. Our only criticism is that the tour started out very slow and we really weren’t understanding (at first) how the Jewish history of the area was going to eventually become the core of our tour. Had our guide contextualized a bit better right at the beginning and laid out the sequence of what we were seeing we would’ve felt more relevance in the first half hour. With that said, when we look back it was a truly great morning!

We were lucky enough the have Benjamin be our tour guide. He was so kind and was extremely knowledgeable about not only the area and its history, but also in providing contextual history about Europe and the world in general. I really cannot sing his praises enough! The area has such a rich and beautiful history that I can't imagine anyone not being completely enchanted and enthralled with the area or the tour. We ended at the Shoah Memorial that we ultimately decided to go and spend time in. Its a profoundly moving and important reminder of our history and a beautiful monument to those we lost. If you are given the opportunity to book this tour, especially with Benjamin, I promise you won't regret the experience!

Seeing Le Marais in the context of Jewish history up to the present day gave me a fascinating insight into the history of Le Marais. I felt a deeper understanding of French Jewish history and culture and it took away the somewhat superficial aspects of being a tourist.

We spent 2 fabulous hours touring Le Marais with Adrian. He was so knowledgeable and enthusiastic. We loved his energy and knowledge of French and Jewish history. Great tour. We’d highly recommend him as a guide and the tour.

Our tour guide was amazing! He was knowledgeable and fun! The weather was not on our side, it was cold and rainy, he didn’t let it affect our experience at all. We would highly recommend !!!

We had Boniet for our tour guide, he was a very nice gentleman and explained a lot about Jewish people to us. Couldn’t ask for a better tour guide.

Ben was very informative about the history of the Jews in France. There are only a few scattered Jewish places left— the Shoah museum, an old synagogue, a Jewish school and a deli and felafal shop. Unfortunately we did not go into any of them.

Pierre Louis was a phenomenal guide. He is so well informed as to the subject matter of the tour, and was easily able to answer any and all questions. Getting us some falafel balls to taste from a world famous restaurant was the “icing on the cake”

History of Jews in spain and history of Jewish persecution in spain. Guide was friendly and knowledgeable
Ilene_B, Jul 2024
None. English was poor and too much emphasis on shoah not about Jews in the Marias area. Some history of French Jews but not so much about the marias Jews.

Wonderful tour. It was so enlightening learning about the Jewish history in Paris and what we’ve endured. We always enjoyed learning about the Jewish cultures in the European cities we visited. Our guide Pierre did a great job.
Flavia_B, Jun 2024
Pierre Louis was knowledgeable, engaging, patient and helpful. He walked at our pace and answered our questions. We even stopped at L'As du Falafel to have a taste which was included in the tour, nice touch! We definitely recomme d him!!

We loved our tour. Benjamin was a great guide and gave us such interesting information. He told us about the history of the Marais from ancient times to the present.
Stuart_C, May 2024
Our guide, PL, was very knowledgeable about the Jewish history and the connections with France through the years. We learned about the dark times in Marais and about life in the neighborhood for Jewish families. The tour starts outside of Marais in historic Paris and moves into the area with a stop at the Shoah Memorial. Also visited the local shops and had a sampling of the fallafel. Visited a romanesque synagogue from the exterior. Tour is worthwhile allowing us to gain a deeper understanding of the history of this area and of the Jewish people.
Arleen_S, May 2024
We had a young man who was able to give us background and a history of the area. We truly enjoyed the tour
susanweinsteinlarese, Apr 2024
Benjamin was our tour guide with Benoit assisting. Both were personable and informative and We learned a lot. Very good tour.
Jonathan_K, Apr 2024
The guide gave us long speeches about the history of the Jews of Paris/ France but didn't really seem to know much about the area we were walking through. He wasn't really able to point out much about the area we were in so it was really more of a history lesson than a walking tour. If you know your modern history of the Jews then this isn't really the trip for you.
