After greeting your guide at a central location, you’ll embark on a relaxed stroll of Nuremberg’s old town. On this scenic amble, you’ll admire timber-framed houses, cobbled streets and the picturesque River Pegnitz.
Delve into Nuremburg’s history as you stroll around Nuremburg Castle (Kaiserburg): hear tales of emperors, saints and sinners and admire the elaborate, half-timbered façade of the Albrecht Dürer House. Additionally, you’ll learn of Nuremberg’s association with the Third Reich and the city’s Nazi history.
Marvel at the spire of St Lawrence Church, a building that was almost demolished during World War II, and then capture photographs outside of Schöner Brunnen — a replica of a 14th-century water feature.
After strolling through Nuremburg Castle’s (Kaiserburg) imperial courtyards, immerse yourself in the bustling ambience of Hauptmarket — Nuremberg’s bustling central square — to learn about the world-famous Christmas market held there.
Here, bid your guide a fond farewell and continue exploring independently.

Although our guide was very knowledgeable regarding the history of Germany and Nuremberg, I felt his language at times and choice of photos he shared with the group were inappropriate.
Response from Host, Feb 2026
Sorry to hear you thought the guide was at times inappropriate. I talked to the guide and he wasn't really sure what you were referring to and you also don't specify in your review what you thought was inappropriate. Germany is not a puritan or prudish culture and, to be honest, cultural differences are part of travelling.

Thank you for your review.

~ walking up steep hills! There was also a second half of the tour that some of us did not know about. A bloody shame ~ I wanted to try the red beer, sigh.
We also passed a closed church because they were filming an English show. We saw the extras standing around outside. I laughed really hard because the knight when he walked, squeaked! His shoe/ foot coverings were rubber! Ha!
Response from Host, Feb 2026
Thank you for your review. Just to be clear, there is exactly one (1) not particularly steep hill (singular) on the tour.

Hannes (“Johannes” minus the “Jo”) is a great guide; knowledgeable, funny, and helpful! The walk was fun and only slightly strenuous.
Response from Host, Feb 2026
Glad you enjoyed the tour and thank you for your review!

Hannes (Johannes) was an excellent tour guide. He was truly local flavor! He was fun and very knowledgeable about the city and it's history. We enjoyed the tour through old town Nuremberg and stopping for lunch. The tour of the rally grounds was interesting too. Great tour with Hannes. We highly recommend!

Bridget_W, Aug 2024
Our guide, Jeff, was very knowledgeable and fun to listen to. It was very nice to hear details about the location we were vacationing in.
Karen_P, Jun 2024
Entertaining and informative guide. Beautiful city and enjoyable tour. Felt like I got a good flavor of the city!

We enjoyed this Nuremberg old town tour.
Our tour guide Suzanne was very knowledgeable about the town, it's history and highlights.
Karen_S, May 2024
Paul was an excellent tour guide full of excellent information and very passionate about the history involved. Highly recommend him
Valerie_B, Apr 2024
Guide was quite knowledgeable. He was opinionated and sometimes offensive. If he had managed time better we wouldnt have missed the once-a-day clock experience by 10 minutes.
Bri_M, Dec 2023
The tour was so good. We saw all the highlights of the town, but we weren't in a rush. Lots of climbing, but it was so fun!
Teresa_P, Dec 2023
We enjoyed a wonderful and informative tour with Natasha our guide. It's a great way to see the old town and get your bearings. We returned to some of the signs ourselves at a later time to explore them more. Definitely will be back to Nuremberg again at another time of the year to explore further.

Fantastic walking tour of the old town. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable. Even the rain didn't dampen her enthusiasm.
Brian_L, Aug 2023
Jeff was great…even in the rain! Hit sites we would not have even considered and he did a great job as a historian.
William_S, Jun 2023
The guide was Scottish but had lived in Nurnberg and was married to a local. She was knowledgeable and engaging. The old town part was very interesting.
Jessica_S, Jul 2022
The guide was incredible! I would recommend him to all future visitors and had a wonderful time. I learned about the history and actually joined the afternoon tour as well since it was so good. I would love the guide’s information.
Sarah_G, Jun 2022
The whole tour was memorable and very well explained. The guide was very friendly and funny. Would do it again
Kaile_R, May 2022
This tour was great, it was led by a man with a PhD in history so he really knew what he was talking about and he was able to answer all questions. When touring the old town he gave recommendations for food/wine/Lebkuchen and I had an excellent lunch at the restaurant he recommended. Then we went to Zeppelin field after the lunch break and we were given an in depth history of the Nazi rallies that took place there. It was very interesting and informative and I would recommend it to anyone.

We really enjoyed our walking tour of Old Town Nuremberg. Jason is a very knowledgeable and friendly guide. He made sure we had breaks if needed and that everyone was comfortable. We got a late start due to the train system, but Jason was careful to communicate with us very quickly about the delay. His German pronunciations and knowledge of the area inspire confidence. We would definitely book with this tour group again.
Andrew_D, Sep 2019
Josh did a wonderful job explaining the city's history and handling our large tour group. He maintained good pace and waited for any stragglers to catchup before speaking and was very cautious and friendly interacting with everyone. He had displays to illustrate his explanations.
Joseph_F, Aug 2019
So I forgot the tour guides name...an Australian guy getting his masters in history. Extremely personable, very knowledgeable, and very organized. I would definitely recommend a tour with this guy.
Mary_U, Aug 2018
This was a very informative and entertaining tour. The guide was knowledgeable and led us at a good pace.
Zlatka K, Jan 2018
this guide was very fun, but he was walking very fast. We barely managed to catch up with him. He did not wait to get together to start telling, but he only spoke to those who walked fast to him.
The excursion is very good, but it is very tiring
Keith C, Dec 2017
Our guide Chris was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. He shared a lot of details about the sites and history of the city that kept things interesting but did not over do it, he struck a very good balance. Highly recommended.
Diana P, Dec 2017
It was easy to fund the location where we meat our guide Chris was amazing he made it all fun and relaxing at the same time . He took his time to explain and answer any questions we had I will difentaly recommend the tour .
Sarah P, Nov 2017
This tour is HIGHLY recommended. Our guide was Australian and spoke fluent English. He was well-informed and kept us moving and flexible when my friend and I wanted to leave the tour early.
Philip S, Nov 2017
Brilliant 2 hour tour fully in English from a very nice tour guide from Australia. Highly recommended for the cost.
Begonia S, Oct 2017
Hard to follow the guide: We were 3 persons and we found the guide at the train station as per the instructions. Then he told us to wait there for the rest of the group. After 10 min we realized that the tour guide disapeared and we had to start the tour by our owns...
IAN H, Aug 2017
CHRIS from Australia made a lighthearted tour with all the history required in the 2 hour walk
