This private tour begins with a hotel pickup in Nuremberg. Meet your guide for your tour and then roam through the city’s Old Town, admiring the beautiful timber-framed houses and cobblestone streets. Marvel at the massive City Walls of Old Town Nuremberg, which still run for approximately 2.5 miles (four kilometers).
Behind the walls, walk past the Craftsmen's Courtyard, where glass cutters, leather workers, gold and silversmiths, stained-glass painters and other artisans offer their wares for sale. See the gothic St. Lawrence Church, which was rebuilt after World War II; Nürnberger Hauptmarkt; plus German Renaissance artist Albrecht Dürer's house, and the Imperial Castle courtyards, to name just some of the attractions.
Along the way, learn about the history of this beautiful and prosperous city—as the center of the Holy Roman Empire, to the days of the German Renaissance, the Temple City of the Third Reich, and the home to both the Nazi rallies and Nuremberg Trials.
See where German Emperors were crowned and where saints are buried. Find where the most famous and talented German artisans in history created their awe-inspiring works and where the colorful and lively markets have taken place for almost 700 years.
Then, for the 3- and 4-hour tours, head out to see the Nazi party rally grounds. Discover the Great Street, designed by architect Albert Speer to be the central axis of the rally grounds, and the half-finished Congress Hall of the Nazi Party, a building Hitler planned to use for party meetings. Our guide Niklas was awesome. Very knowledgeable about the history of the site and of Germany generally. He added colorful stories from his family history that illustrated the effects and consequences of the events that occurred at the various locations we explored. He really made the history come alive in a way that just wandering the site alone would never have provided.

We took the three hour walking tour as a couple with our guide, Christoph. As a local, he was very well informed about the city and its transformation over the years, and we both gained a lot of information from him about Nurnberg. Our tour started inside the walls of the Old Town and then focused more on walking out to the Rally Grounds and that area, as we were familiar with the town after a few days’ stay. Christoph was friendly and flexible, and we had a great day with him.

Nuremburg was smaller than we expected and I feel you can download lots of walking tours and do this one without the tour. It was pricey for what it was.

Terribly sorry that Nuremberg (population 500,000) was smaller than you expected, our guides will try to make the city larger for our future tours. As far as downloadable audio tours, yes those are an option in every city for people who do not want to spend money for a fully guided tour with a qualified guide.

This was a great experience for me and my teen. Touring the old Nazi Party Rally Grounds first. Dimitri was so knowledgeable and took us on the tram to the grounds. It was so impressive and having Dimitri explain the locations really took me back into history. My teen really enjoyed the presentation Dimitri had with the historical pictures and old propaganda. Then we took the bus to the old city center. We toured the Imperial Castle Nuremberg. Then we went around the old city seeing the bunker and museums, the gothic cathedrals, the gingerbread stores. He gave us a great recommendation for the Red Beer and good sausage. Totally worth doing!
