My partner and I decided to go on our first wine tasting tour and this trip with Ross did not disappoint. This has set the bar up high. Wine, Gin & Beer tasting, couldn't get any better than this. Ross was amazing, he gave us a summary of the tour and a bit of Napier's history. It was a small group so it was easy to talk & mingle with everyone. Highly recommended for sure!

Good little tour.
Guide was very helpful and the door to door service was great.
One of the vineyards was closed but was compensated with a bottle of wine 🍷

You might not get round all 4 wineries. And would recommend going on a full stomach. Provides an excellent overview of local wines and the reasons for limitations.

Really tasty wine and gin (it's easy to fall on crappy wine in NZ sadly), generous pours in every venue.
Knowledgable, detailed explanations in every winery, and by Ross the guide throughout the way!
The groups are small and intimate, so you don't feel like a cruise herd anywhere :) and the pickup/drop off from any point you are is really convenient.

Eat something before you go as you will be tasting wine and gin throughout your tour. A fantastic opportunity to try different wines and gins. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the area around and the cheese and biscuits selection was outstanding. Cheers Ross.

Loved our wine tour and Ross was a cool guy. We would have loved the gin tasting but alas they were closed. Ross did a great job at finding somewhere else for us to taste but didn't let us know in advance.

Always nice for something to be better than expected
Our wine tasting and gin tasting afternoon involved visiting two vineyards and a distillery with two other couples
All three venues were great
Ross was a brilliant host/driver/guide
The cheese and biscuits were a nice touch

Ross picked us up right on time. We visited 2 wineries - Mission and Askerne where we enjoyed tasting 6 of their best wines. We also visited a gin distillery in a fantastic art nouveau style building. We were able to try 4 different gins. The information provided at each stop was excellent

Ross was fantastic! Picked us up from our Air BNB right on time, did a great job of explaining where we were, and kept it interesting. All the places we went to knew him by name and so it did feel like we got the 'very special' treatment. The tastings were ample, well thought out and extremely enjoyable. Highly recommend to anyone wanting to see what else Napier has to offer!

The tour guide/driver was efficient and entertaining, pick-up by mini bus was as booked. The gin tasting at the national tobacco company was excellent- we had the undivided attention of the owner who was both informative and entertaining. The Mission building was beautiful however the guide given to us clearly knew nothing at all about wine. We had no opportunity to actually visit the vineyard/winemaking process. Really this tour is little more than a booze cruise on a bus with a bit of historical information thrown in. Enjoyable but a little disappointing

Hi Sara, I have just read your review and to me it seems a little harsh. I think you will find if you go out on a wine tasting afternoon you will generally visit wineries to taste wine and a distillery to tase gin and yes you will "cruise around on a bus". Your tour was on a Sunday so ofcourse the vineyard workers and wine making were having the weekend off. Due to health and safety requirments access to working wineries are now highlighly resricted.

We’d never been to the Hawkes Bay and wanted to experience the local wines so booked this tour. Our tour ditector, Ross turned up on time. The vehicle was spacious and clean. He was very knowledgable about the wine and the history of the local area. The cheeseboard and home grown avocado was quickly devoured - very delicious. I tried a few chardonnays on this tour but am still looking for tge right one. We would highly reccommend this tour.

Ross was a super host, pick up from accommodation and lots of local knowledge. Tasting at The Mission a highlight. Really enjoyed the visit to the The National Distillery Company too, delicious Gin tasting.

We visited the wineries at Mission Estate, Linden Estate and Church Road. It was a very enjoyable afternoon. We had three couples and Ross made it a great experience as he took us to each winery and gave us some history and pointed out interesting landmarks as we travelled between the vineyards. The Wine presenters at each vineyard were very knowledgeable. It was a great afternoon with two other friendly couples.

Ross is knowledgeable (he knows a lot about Napier and grapes) and is very friendly. His knowledge made the tour more interesting and informative. Ross was great at communicating and being very accommodating. If you are after a great afternoon amongst the vines, Ross is your man.

We had a great afternoon with Ross, it was a very full tour so the company was great and the optional beer tasting went down a treat! The first two stops were the best of the wineries, the last however, Linden, we were told nothing at all about the winery by our tasting host at the winery, or the wines we were tasting, they just poured and left us to it which was disappointing.
