Thank you for joining us on the 2pm walk. Despite some lovely spring weather last week, we have had a couple of days of rain so if you braved the downpours, thanks for being hardy. Arrived at tour start point early as road works around area but no problem. Great introduction film then all given ear pieces so we can listen to all guide has to say. Although its mainly art deco buildings the 90 mins went realy quickly. Great tour well run. Thanks all.

Thank you for your kind comments Brian. The current roadworks are a challenge at the moment but it is short term pain for long term gain. Once the new city pipes have been laid and the road is resurfaced there will be a beautification of the area in front of our Art Deco Centre. Thanks for coming early to skirt round the fencing. Interesting information about 1931 quake and its effects then about the types of art deco with lots of buildings to illustrate this.

Great couple of hours with Judy, our guide. Really enjoyed walking around Napier and learning about the various art deco styles and their architects. Judy was very knowledgeable and entertaining. Would definitely recommend it.

Even the downpour couldn’t dampen this tour. Our guide had a thorough knowledge of the town history and led us on a tour of both exteriors and interiors featuring art deco design. I highly recommend this tour. They even provided umbrellas.

Excellent walk and talk activity with short film at end. Really explained the 31 earthquake and the aftermath as well as explaining the art deco styles locally.

Our tour was hosted by Kieth, a volunteer who was a ‘ninja’ on all things Napier, not only did he know everything about the architecture styles, particularly Art Deco, he was passionate about Napier. He first took us through a PowerPoint on the history of Napier and we then did a walking tour, with the whole thing lasting around two hours. It was probably too long for us at two hours, but other than that it was great to learn, thanks Kieth.

Thank you for your great comments. The afternoon 2pm walk is 2 1/2 hours in duration with the walking component around 1 1/2 hours. Some guests prefer the longer format as they wish to view as many of the buildings as possible. Others prefer the shorter 1 hour walk component which forms part of the 10am walk. Excellent walking tour of Napier. Starts with a slide show explaining the architecture followed by a walk to see it. Excellent informative guide. Video at the end shows earthquake footage and after We also learnt a lot about the area of Hawkes bay.
