Balaam (the tour guide) was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the murals and the stories behind them. A million times better than touring around by yourself, we learnt so much, including about Mexican history. Highly recommend!!
Strusn_S, Apr 2026
There was a good diversity of murals that our guide carefully described and placed in context for us
Marianne_H, Apr 2026
This tour is a great way to experience the murals in Mexico City’s historic center. The guide did a great job breaking down the imagery and symbolism, and explaining the stories and politics behind them
Maura_B, Apr 2026
Our guide (Balam?) was terrific - his knowledge was vast, and he skillfully put a great deal of breathtaking art into historical context, leaving us knowing a lot more about art, Mexico and with the understanding that we NEED to know a lot more! Thank you!
Shelley_K, Apr 2026
This was a terrific tour for anyone hoping to learn more about Diego Rivera and other Mexican muralists. It wasn't just about seeing the fantastic works, but about the history of the artists, and the history of Mexico. Rodrigo was an excellent guide, answering questions and offering terrific insights. He clearly loves Mexican muralism -- and it showed in the tour.
Alicia_B, Apr 2026
We scheduled this last minute and did not know what to expect. This was our most favorite thing we did during our stay in Mexico City. Balaam Our tour guide was so knowledgeable and considerate. It was a beautiful day.
Jennifer_H, Mar 2026
Rodrigo led the Mexican Muralism tour yesterday afternoon for us (mother and grown kid) and it was fantastic! So informative and engaging. Rodrigo is incredibly knowledgeable about the artists and Mexican history. We learned alot and had a lot of fun. A great choice!

This tour was outstanding! The guide, Ulysses Guerrero Ravelo (Warryor) was very knowledgeable and brought us to places to see murals we would not otherwise have been able to see. His stories were entertaining, and he really know the information.
Sadly, we were unable to see some of the murals listed on the itinerary as the Department of Education was closed on Tuesday. Though that was disappointing, the alternative offered more than made up for it. This tour was worth every penny and then some!
By the way, the company was very understanding and helpful to me. I was unable to show up for the tour on time the day I had originally booked, but they allowed me to have a space on a different day That was very accommodating, and I really appreciated it.
Response from Host, Mar 2026
It’s wonderful to hear that you enjoyed the experience and that Ulysses made it both engaging and informative.
We also appreciate your understanding regarding the unexpected closure — we always do our best to adapt the route so you can still have a complete and enriching experience.
Thank you as well for your kind words about our team’s flexibility. It was a pleasure having you with us!
Susan_C, Mar 2026
I don’t remember the guide’s name but he was wonderful. He knew so much about the different murals and the artists. There was a huge Woman’s March at the same time and they shut down the Palacio de Bellas Artes sooner than they had advertised which was not his fault and completely out of his control. But he quickly pivoted and took us to see the Dreaming of a Sunday Afternoon by Diego Rivera which was absolutely stunning. Great tour!
Response from Host, Mar 2026
Thank you for your review!
I’m very glad you enjoyed the tour. That day presented some unexpected challenges in the city, but we always try to adapt the route so the experience can continue in the best possible way. I’m happy we were still able to enjoy Rivera’s Dream of a Sunday Afternoon together.
It was a pleasure sharing the murals with you.
Alexander_G, Mar 2026
My wife's and my experience was excellent. Our guide (whose name escaped me, sorry) was very knowledgeable and provided us with plenty of information about the murals we saw. We covered many murals and at the end walked to the marvelous Palace of Fine Arts with its wonderful murals. Would recommend any visitor to Mexico City to take that tour.
Response from Host, Mar 2026
I’m very glad you both enjoyed the tour!
It was a pleasure sharing the murals and their stories with you. And no worries about the name — I’m Balaam!
Thank you for your kind words and for recommending the experience.

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Balaam. He was extremely knowledgeable, answering all our questions and catering to our preferences (it so happened we were the only ones on the tour so it became tailor-made.) A thoroughly engaging and warm historian, Balaam communicated so much to us to help put in context the myriad murals we visited. Fascinating. Highly recommend!!
Response from Host, Mar 2026
Thank you so much for your kind review!

Wonderful instructive tour. Our guide was knowledgeable, considerate and fun. There are stairs at several sites

Alex_N, Feb 2026
The experience was wonderful. Balam is very knowledgable about the artwork and artists. But he also did a great job of providing background on history and politics to provide context to what’s represented by the murals.
Response from Host, Feb 2026
Thank you so much for your kind words! I’m very happy to hear that you enjoyed the experience and the deeper historical and political context behind the murals.
It was truly a pleasure guiding you.
A_E, Feb 2026
Although the guide was kind and seemed very familiar with the subject matter, the tour itself did not meet my expectations. The information felt very surface-level, and the tour went far beyond the three hours scheduled (even though one of the three sites in the itinerary was closed that day). There were also long breaks and photo-ops that I did not feel were necessary.
Response from Host, Feb 2026
Thank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback.
I truly appreciate your kind words about the guide’s knowledge and demeanor. I’m very sorry to hear that the overall experience did not fully meet your expectations.
Regarding the duration, our intention is always to provide a rich and immersive experience, especially when discussing complex historical and artistic movements like Mexican muralism. However, we understand that timing is important, and we regret if the tour extended beyond what felt comfortable for you.
As for the pacing and photo opportunities, we aim to balance in-depth explanation with moments for guests to appreciate and reflect on the artwork. That said, your feedback is extremely valuable, and we will carefully review it to ensure we continue improving the structure and flow of the experience.
We truly appreciate you joining us and thank you again for your thoughtful comments.
Johanna_B, Feb 2026
3-4 hours of description of murals at 3 places in the city, within shorting walking distance of each other. The murals are beautiful but without our guide we would have missed so much of the symbolism, the background of the painters (mainly Diego Rivera), and reflection of their time, that is depicted in them.
Response from Host, Feb 2026
Thank you so much for your wonderful review! I’m truly happy to hear that the context, symbolism, and historical background made the murals even more meaningful for you.
It was a pleasure sharing this experience with you.
Victoria_F, Feb 2026
Lots to see. Very experienced guide. Wear comfortable shoes! Unfortunately, we our guide was so engaged that the tour went a bit long. But enjoyed the time and the art and the education in the old section of Mexico City.
Response from Host, Feb 2026
Thank you so much for your kind review! I’m very happy you enjoyed the art, the history, and the experience overall.
I appreciate your note about the timing — sometimes the passion for the subject makes the tour run a little longer than planned. Thank you for your understanding!
It was a pleasure having you with us.
Bette_L, Feb 2026
We had a wonderful guide Balaam for this tour. He provided us with a lot of interesting information about the history, political and social issues which fueled the Mural movement and artists, and Mexico in the 1920s to 1960s. He is an effective communicator and speaks English very well. His knowledge, deep respect and love for the artists, esp. Diego River and Orozco, made this tour truly interesting, exciting and inspiring.
Response from Host, Feb 2026
Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful words.
We’re truly delighted to hear that you enjoyed the tour and found it interesting, exciting, and inspiring. Balaam will be very happy to know that his passion, knowledge, and dedication made a meaningful impact on your experience. It is always an honor for us to share the history and legacy of the Mural movement with visitors like you.
We hope to welcome you again very soon!
James_G, Feb 2026
Our first walking tour. It was worthwhile. Primarily was in the Mural Museum, with some time in Bellas Artes and in a small museum across from the Hilton in the bottom of Alameda Park. Some in the group were slow walkers and had trouble keeping up with the walking from place to place.
Response from Host, Mar 2026

I got exactly what I was looking for in this tour: interpretation of Diego Rivera’s meaning-laden murals. Our guide, Balaam, was passionate about the topic. He welcomed questions, was flexible about bathroom breaks, and helped us negotiate a street food snack. We got way more out of seeing the Museo de Vivo Muralisme and the murals at the Palais de Bellas Artes than we ever would have on our own.
Response from Host, Mar 2026
Dear Elizabeth,
Thank you so much for your thoughtful review!
We’re truly happy to hear that the tour gave you exactly what you were looking for — understanding the deeper meaning behind Diego Rivera’s murals is such a special experience. Balaam is very passionate about this topic, and it means a lot to know that his enthusiasm and flexibility helped make your visit even more enjoyable.
We’re also glad you got to experience the Museo de Vivo Muralismo and the murals at Bellas Artes in a way that added more depth than exploring on your own.
Thank you again for joining us — we hope to welcome you back to Mexico City someday!

Miguel was an outstanding guide for the Historic Center Murals tour. His passion for Mexican art and history was contagious, and he has a real gift for bringing the murals to life - connecting the artwork to the social and political context in a way that felt engaging, accessible, and genuinely meaningful. What really stood out was his warmth and attentiveness; he went above and beyond to make the experience feel personal and immersive, offering wonderful insights into everyday local culture along the way.
