This was a really fun adventure. The hot air ballon ride over the pyramids was amazing and beautiful (remember to brace for impact when you land and make a mental note of where the padding is in the basket). I love mountain biking, so adding the biking package made this experience even more fun, and you get a more up close look at the archaeological sites in the surrounding countryside. And then walking the pyramid site just transports you to another world and offers some incredible photo opportunities. All of the guides were professional, friendly, and made learning about the Teotihuacan history enjoyable. With transportation from my hotel in Mexico City, and breakfast and lunch included, I highly recommend this experience.

This was an incredible experience. It was our first time to Teotihuacan and seeing it from 1,000 feet in the air was breath taking. Definitely worth the cost of admission. Walking through the ruins afterwards was equally interesting. I highly recommend the bike tour as well if you want to get away from the touristy area and really see how the people live in the nearby towns.

The whole tour was a lot of fun! The pickup in the morning was easy. Volaré was a perfect company to work with for the hot air balloon ride. It felt very safe and organized. Our pilot flew us right over the pyramid on the way there and back.
Throughout the entire trip, the food was not a highlight but fuel to keep us going it was a long but very fun day. The people were all very friendly and helpful especially Luis, our driver and the lady at the front desk.
Luis gave a great tour of the archeological zone and bike trip around the city. I would recommend this tour to others if they want a balloon ride and a guide in Teotihuacan. I will say I probably could have skipped the biking part but I still had a good time.

I was initially unsure about this experience, but I'm so glad I did it! It sounds like they send up these many balloons every single day. Turns out our balloon pilot was an ex-fighter pilot for the Mexican Air Force, so we knew we were in very good hands. After that, we went to the pyramids, which is a must-do. Then we visited some miscellaneous sites in the area. Definitely a long day, so be prepared, but well worth it!

Great experience from the start to the end. Top organization. Balloon experience is perfect before going to visit the site on the ground. We did the walking tour with a guide (Luis very knowledgeable). The restaurant is ok with touristic animations about Mexican culture.
We recommend not to forget hats, sunscreen and water.
Big thank you to the Volare and Teotihuacan en bici crews, particularly to Angeles.

Our tour started rough! We did not receive much information about how the day would unfold. We were told a driver would meet us at 5 am. However, that was all I was provided. The driver did not identify himself, the car was dirty and the driver gave no information. I had to message Viator during the drive to find out what was going on. The balloon ride itself was AMAZING however, the breakfast afterwards was TERRIBLE. We were then taken to a place for the bike ride. The bikes were very old and the tires were not very full. Our tour guide Ramon, however, was AMAZING! He was so knowledgeable and provided a great tour of the Pyramids and the surrounding area. So overall, Ramon and the Balloon experience made the trip a four-star - but highly disappointed in Viator! We have never had issues with the company before, but this excursion was extremely disorganized and no information was provided.

We had a great time for the entire day. The driver was at our hotel downtown right at 5:30am, the balloon registration was easy with early morning coffee and tea, and breakfast after the balloon ride. The balloon flight was unforgetable, and perhaps one of my favorite touristy activities I’ve ever done.
After breakfast, we went to the bike tour company, and Luis took us all around the area acting as a guide, first to the main Teotihuacan site; to ruins of some living quarters with beautiful murals; to a lava cave; and to a site where we learned about obsidian and did a tasting of local food and drink. We ended with a prix fix lunch at a Mexican restaurant, and then our driver took us back to the hotel. All in all, very well organized, and everyone was kind and happy to share their history and community.

Professional and friendly and attentive and kind and knowledgeable staff who took care of me and gave me the best day of adventures.

I was looking for a tour that offered Balloon ride and a guided tour of Teotihuacan, and this was one of the rare tours that offered this. We started the day early but there was a small miscommunication where the sister tour operator tried to pick us up 40 minutes before our stated pickup time. After we resolved that initial miscommunication, it was all smooth sailing.
Angeles picked us up promptly at the right time, and drove us out to the Balloon takeoff site. The ride itself was fantastic! I was riding with two people who had a fear of heights, but this experience was enjoyable for both! It is extremely gentle ride, to the point that you don't even realize when you've lifted off.
You don't need a jacket or anything as the heat from the propane flame can get quite warm. So, dress for a normal day. The flight lasted about an hour before we landed which is quite exciting as the pilot doesn't have directional control and it's a joint effort with the ground team to land the Balloon.
We went back to the takeoff site for a decent breakfast while being serenaded by a Mariachi band. We weren't expecting this, so it was a nice surprise.
After breakfast, we went to the tour office to sign some paperwork, and pick up our guide for Teotihuacan- Luis. Luis was phenomenal. He has great knowledge about the archeological site, and was very patient with us when we stalled to take photos. All of this made for a wonderful day - they were even able to take us to the Pyramid of the Feathered Serpent as we had enough time.
I cannot recommend this experience enough. This is more expensive than the other tours that offer Teotihuacan Balloon and Site visit but it is absolutely worth it ad you get small group focus which truly elevates the whole experience.
I would definitely choose Angeles and her team again.

Luis the guide. No question was unanswered. A very passionate young man who clearly is for preserving the Mexican heritage and history. I made a comment that its people like him who are change makers. Every aspect of the long walk was filled with stories. My group consisted of diverse people and Luis was able to share his wealth of knowledge. The overall day from pickuo to drop off was smooth.

This was one of the best tours and tour companies we have ever done! Just incredible. Our driver , Giovanny was right on time to our Airbnb and with us at every step of transport and was so friendly and prompt. Once we got to the hot air balloon site it went so smoothly with check in and getting everyone organized and in their groups. The balloon flight was spectacular! Exceeded all my expectations ! The ride was smooth and so beautiful to be above the pyramids with all the colorful balloons in the sky. Our pilot in the balloon made sure we saw the pyramids and ruins from every angle and viewpoint. The day could not have been more picturesque. We landed softly and he had champagne to toast our flight! Then we were treated to a lovely breakfast buffet in the courtyard complete with a mariachi band! Our driver was there and waiting to take us to the bike shop where we met our guide Ramon. He was friendly and so knowledgeable! We biked to the pyramids and he gave us incredible amounts of information as we walked the archaeological site. He even had us pose and took the best pictures We continued our bike ride to a cave and another site of some ruins. All amazing and Ramon continued to educate us and tell stories. He then had us ride to a courtyard where we were treated to an early afternoon happy hour and learned about how they work with obsidian. Finally we went to our lunch spot. A nice little restaurant in the village. Everything was delicious! Giovanny again was waiting for us to drive us back to the city. We were picked up at 5:40 and home around 4:30. What a day! Well worth every penny!!!!

The balloon ride was great the walking tour - led by a different vendor was rushed and not worth it. He rushed us through the museum and was more focused on add on sales than sharing the history of the amazing place. We ended up in a hard sell sell of “artisanal products” and the included lunch was not good. Do the hot air balloons and then just tour the pirámides yourself.

We had a wonderful day. Very organized. Our guide was great. Just loved everything
It was a long day but very very worth it. It was a long time wish to do this and you more than met our expectations. Thank you

I had more than what I expected and informed, highly recommend. No you must experience this tour❤️🔥
Since climbing upto The Pyramid is not allowed, it is only way you can look down!!
A day before, I recieved, clear and professional message about the tour cia WhatsApp.
Changed to walking tour during the tour cause it was too hot. (All other ppl in my group changed)
My balloon pilot was slowy spinned balloon so everyone in every corner enjoyed. I have a bit of fear of heights but I was ok 👍
My guide Eloy was very professional and good english speaker, I deeply involved during the tour👍👍
Paulin_T, Nov 2023
It was truly an unforgettable experience. The balloon ride was phenomenal, and Eloy, our guide, was one of the best we've had in Mexico. Highly recommend.
We found it helpful to know exactly what the sequence of the attractions throughout the day was, so I would definitely reach out to the company if you have any questions about that.
Brendan_K, Nov 2023
If you're in the area, this is a must do. Simply spectacular, and the 4K video of ride was extra special. Super pro operation from start to finish. Ramon was a great guide on the walking tour.

My partner and I had the most extraordinary time — truly once-in-lifetime. Yes, you get up early, and yes, it’s a pretty long day (12 hours with our tour) … But it was totally worth it. The hot air ballon experience was beyond words; something you must directly experience for yourself. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful; they even felt like family after a while. We also enjoyed the social connections we made — individuals and couples from all over the world. They, too, started feeling like family after a while. We were physically pretty exhausted at the end of the day, but our hearts were happy.
Matthew_F, Oct 2023
Would certainly recommend this unique experience to friends and family. From start to finish everyone involved excelled at their specialty and make up an incredible team.

An amazing experience. The hot air balloon was just awe inspiring and something I’ll never forget.
The tour was well run and very safe. We did the bike tour and they gave us safety vests and helmets and provided lights and helmets for the cave tour.
Our guide, Luis, was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful and our driver, Giovanni, was a very safe driver.

First class experience all the way from the pick-up on time, ballon ride, exploring the Teotihuacan ruins and cave exploring with bike ride was truly amazing experience…i can say enough good things about the whole experience guide was exceptional and the food was great with a mariachi band at late breakfast also

This trip to Mexico City felt like the first real vacation I have planned for myself and my husband - a combination 20+ wedding anniversary, 20 years work sabbatical, birthday trip. My husband and I work for a non-profit and we aren’t wealthy. I say all this bc this was a VERY BIG thing for me to decide to do bc of the cost. Fellow budget travelers - you understand.
So I was trying to be open to appreciating whatever happened but also hoping it would feel worth it, not a waste of money.
Also I was worried bc going during the “rainy season” in July made weather a potential concern.
Here was my experience.
The weather was fine all seven mornings of our trip even though it rained at night - sometimes quite a lot.
The tour is very well organized between the balloon ride and the tour afterwards. Communication happened via WhatsApp and was very clear and thorough. I was given a driver’s name and pick-up info, he arrived at 4:15 am, we drove with others in van to very nice staging area/balloon company, we paid for tea and hung out until we were called over to our balloon and we got on and up first of all the balloons and it was beautiful to be up as the sun and other balloons rose. Floating over the pyramid was amazing - esp since you can’t climb them since Covid. I just felt joy - and not really any fear of heights at all - another concern. It seemed very safe.
It costs extra to get photos and video from a drone flying at the height of the balloon but it was totally worth it in my mind - the photographer was very nice and the footage amazing - the drone went up and over the balloon and caught both the people in the basket plus the surrounding area and gives you a 3D sense of what it was like to be up there - it’s nice to not worry as much about taking pics yourself.
Afterwards - we had a choice of options for breakfast and then got a ride to where the tour started.
Our guide was Eloy and he lived in the area and was able to share a great deal about the history of the ruins as well as about people there now. He seemed to be open to questions and allowing us to move at our own pace.
This was especially helpful during the bike tour part which I wanted to do but honestly was not in shape to do with the altitude/Covid lungs. I made it and it was great, still very worthwhile but I had to stop a few times to catch my breathe and Eloy was great about that.
The cave was stunning but also it was very kind of mind boggling hearing about it being used as a sun dial - it’s importance to the community at the time. It’s like stone henge - an example of our human ancestors ingenuity
We also enjoyed the ride to the community center and our time there - including explanations about obsidian crafts that I enjoyed as well as about uses of the agave to make various products.
I had saved $ to spend there bc I only like buying things for myself and others as gifts if I know the story behind them - it’s what makes it special to me.
Then we had lunch that was paid for by the tour group at a restaurant well rated by Trip Advisor and tried some dishes we hadn’t had - yet - esp corn ear fungus.
Then finally back to the city - nice driver - Giovanni who navigated Mexico City evening traffic well and got us home safely.
All and all - it seemed like 10-25 people had a role in making our trip amazing - the schedulers, communicators, photographers, the balloon captain and wranglers, breakfast crew, bicycle shop staff, our guide, the lunch restaurant staff and the drivers and each one of them was kind and helpful, coordinated with each other even though I spoke very little Spanish.
As someone who is a teacher and meeting event planner - I was very impressed by how well everyone chipped in and worked together. Thanks to everyone.
10/10 would recommend

This was by far one of best tours and experiences I ever had. Our hot air balloon was spectacular and our captain Xavier was lovely, with over 20 years of experience. We even popped some bubbly at the end. My favorite part of the tour was on the ground, we opted for the (Spanish)walking tour, our tour guide Jorge was super knowledgeable and kind. His family is from that region so we definitely had some interesting insights and perspective. I’m beyond grateful! Thank you!

This was an incredible tour! It was an amazing day! We got picked up right at our hotel at 4:30 am by Giovani, our incredible driver who drove us from place to place all day long. We drove about an hour to where the balloon ride was. The balloon ride over they pyramids was a once in a lifetime experience. We then landed and had a delicious breakfast buffet. Then we met Javier, our incredibly knowledgeable guide for the rest of the day. He gave us an amazing tour of the ruins and then took us to an underground cave and to see some of the local artisans. We had lunch and then Giovani took us back to our hotel at about 5 pm. When we booked this tour, I thought it was a little expensive, but it was worth every penny.

Our driver Giovanni pick me up exactly on time as promised, and was professional the whole trip. Our guide Luis was knowledgeable and friendly, walking (and bike riding) us around Teotihuacan. Oscar our balloon pilot was professional and skilled - he took us RIGHT OVER the main pyramid of the sun making for amazing photos. The meals provided were great, and the team took care of us start to finish, with water, breaks, side stories and answered all our questions. The staff at the bike shop (including their cat & dog) were friendly and helpful.
We then ended back up at our hotels exactly on time as promised. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Amazing tour with full of small surprise’s.
Great tour guide with knowledge about the ancient civilisations in Mexico.

My husband and I came to Mexico City for a week and were told by everyone we HAD to see Teotihuacan. We decided to splurge on the hot air balloon ride + guided tour and we were amazed! We had to leave pretty early in the morning (4:30am), but it was worth it seeing the sunrise as we were up in the skies with all the other balloons— a truly amazing unforgettable experience! Then, we had an amazing tour with our guide Ramón. He took us first around the small museum, then the pyramids/ archaeological site, and then through a pre-colonial cave system. We had Ramón all to ourselves— he was very informative, kind, and made the tour extremely personal, as he grew up only a short distance from the site. I would highly highly recommend this tour package! It was well worth the price— including transportation to/from your hotel In CDMX, the balloon ride, a personal tour, along with decent breakfast, lunch and other activities thrown in!
Erica_B, Apr 2023
Simply worth the money.
The schedule is perfect
- Hot Hair Balloon Ride for sunrise (around 5mins)
- Yummy Mexican breakfast w/mariachis
- Tour of Pyramids (and few extra secrets)
- Lunch (buffet in a typical Mexican restaurant)
If you can ask for ELOY as a guide. He is legit THE best!
Ashwin_J, Apr 2023
Truly was a magical experience to see the pyramids from the air. Tour was well organized and breakfast after the balloons was fantastic with music etc. biking tour was also. Wry memorable though a little too strenuous for our 8 year old. But they were able to accommodate by adding a bike hitch.
