Wendy’s Mazatlán market tour was absolutely outstanding! From start to finish, she made the experience fun, personal, and unforgettable. We explored the bustling market while tasting some of the most delicious local foods I’ve ever had—each stop was better than the last. Beyond the food, Wendy wove in rich cultural insights and fascinating bits of history that brought Mazatlán to life in a way I never could have experienced on my own. Her passion and knowledge made the tour not just a food adventure, but a true cultural journey. If you’re visiting Mazatlán, this tour is a must-do!

Luis was fantastic. Super chatty, fun, and lovely to be around. The bites were amazing especially the smoked tuna and ceviche tostada!

You will eat a lot of food so come hungry.
Great tour of the Mercado and history of the local area as well.
Sandy_G, Dec 2025
Come hungry. Seven generous tastings, warm local vendors, and flavors so good you'll come back for more.
Nancy_W, Dec 2025
Be sure not to eat anything before the tour - you’ll be overly stuffed way before the end. I’d highly recommend this activity and would do it again in a heartbeat.

Wendy was very knowledgeable about Mazatlan and the food was fantastic. I almost didn't have room for the wonderful ice cream at the end.
Bob_P, Mar 2025
Plenty of food. Felt safe the entire time. Wendy was an excellent tour guide. Pace of tour was excellent. Tamales, Mexican drink. Ceviche, fruit bowl, pulled pork and gelato
Cynthia_G, Jan 2025
It was interesting, but I got extremely ill on the Ceviche. My friends didn’t eat it because they said it smelled bad. I threw up between 20-30 times. Still sick now.

Hi Cynthia! We are sorry to hear that you had a negative reaction to something you ate. Although Flavor Teller does not own or operate any eatery that we visit on the tour, we take food safety very seriously. I have contacted you directly, so you can give me more insight about the incident so we can improve our service and experience.

Hi Alina and Marc! Thank you for your rave review. Flavor Teller guide Wendy is passionate about local food and history and her energy is contagious. Keep up your curious appetite and we can't wait to show you more of Mazatlan's food scene on your next trip!
Patricia_B, Jan 2025
The walking is quite easy and covers some interesting parts of the city. Wendy provided lots of details about the various buildings and a great number of historical facts about Mazatlan. She had a very friendly relationship with the venders involved and was greeted warmly by each one. My friend and I felt very badly, however, because we realized that we totally forgot her tip! Bless her heart, she didn’t say a word…
Response from Host, Mar 2025
HI Patricia! What a flavorful walk you had at Mazatlan's market and its surroundings. It's great to hear that you enjoyed every bite on the way. Hopefully you will continue to eat like a local and we look forward to welcoming you on your next trip.
Kathy_M, Jan 2025
Great overview of local history, and lots of delicious food. Wendy was a charming and informative guide. One recommendation - don't eat anything before you come. Portions are ample!
Response from Host, Mar 2025
Hi Kathy! Thank you for opening your heart to Mazatlan's market. This historic landmark is a lively shopping area with scrumptious specialties. Make sure to bring a big smile and an appetite to the tour, because there are 7 tastings in three hours. We look forward to welcoming you on another Flavor Teller tour soon.
Amy_H, Dec 2024
We had a fantastic time on this tour. Wendy is a local and a knowledgable guide, and we learned a lot from her about Mexican food and culture. Make sure you arrive hungry, because there is a lot to try!
Response from Host, Mar 2025
Hi Amy! Thank you for your rave review and Come-Hungry suggestion. Mazatlan's food, culture and history are surprisingly connected and after seven tastings you will feel like a local. Hasta la proxima, see you next time!

No cancelation/no refund policy, tour operator texted multiple times after 11pm trying to reschedule our tour to different times, and when we had a scheduling conflict and wanted to reschedule they said no. We didn't go on the tour, wasted money.
Ramona_R, Jul 2024
Our tour guide Wendy was wonderful to work with. Even though the tour states no bathrooms on route she was able to find us a few bathrooms. We got to see, walk and shop with the locals. We tasted several local delicasies and wrapped up our tour with desert. The only one thing I would change is that our guide spoke a little louder because the town is busy and loud.
Tracy_r, May 2024
Wendi was great tour guide she shared facts about the city and gave us great information about the foods spices and peppers of the area. The food was all so good! Definitely do not eat before you will get full!
Donna_T, May 2024
Wendy our tour guide was the greatest. She was very passionate with her explaining the history of Mazatlan. She was also very welcoming through the complete tour. I recommend this tour. The food chosen was very good.
Samantha_S, Apr 2024
Excellent tour with Wendy! We got a lot of interesting information about the history of Mazatlán and the food was amazing. And it was a nice small group which made it easy to navigate and ask questions to the guide. Come hungry because I was very full by the end! Highly recommend.
Jimmy_K, Apr 2024
Wendy was an excellent guide. She gave us an overview of the history and food of Mazatlán. Had a great time exploring the public market.
Anne_B, Mar 2024
Wendy conducted a terrific tour, with lots of historical tidbits and information. You can tell she is very proud of her home town of Mazatlán. We stopped at places that as a tourist we’d normally not go to, so it was very educational and interesting, plus the food was great!
Russell_M, Feb 2024
Wendy was excellent! She gave us historical context about the city, as well as introduce us to local eats. Tortas, ceviche, tamales and Horchata were some of our favorites.
Christine_I, Feb 2024
It wasn't what we expected. Wendy is a wonderful person and tried to show us local flavors and local parts of the town. She was very kind. I thought I was having kidney stones and she found me a bathroom and was concerned for my safely. For that I thank her. My pains sunsided. By the time we got home we both had diarrhea immediately upon returning to the hotel. It lasted the night. We had no other food than was on the tour. And we both were sick. So it was definitely something from the market. While eating local is interesting and we used hand sanitizer, so it was something we ate or touched something that we both reacted to pretty violently. It was our last day in Mexico after 14 days including Mexico City and Mazatlan and this is the only time we got sick. So I would not recommend this tour to anyone. We also would have liked more history but we understand it was more of a food tour.
Paula_S, Jan 2024
Eduardo was excellent -- great insights, well organized. The food was excellent, and the tour took all of the logistical difficulties out of the way.
Jason_R, Nov 2023
Fantastic tour including history and culture of Mazatlan. The food was only amplified by the company throughout the market where the guide seemed to know everyone! A great way to experience the area!
Steven_B, Nov 2023
Tour was great. Edward and Wendy were excellent. We went to wonderful places and tried food we would never have found. Best tamales ever. We even had a hard rain storm that flooded the streets. But Edward made sure we finished our tour and did not cut it short navigating us through the city. We had our 9 and 6 year old and they loved it. 5 stars!
Chelsea_M, Oct 2023
Where do I start! This was a very wonderful tour. From learning about the historic landmarks to the food tasting. Eduardo was phenomenal. 100% recommended!
