To many people!

amy_k, Apr 2026
Recommend but not this tour, to many people and it was like a herd of people at once. Did see dolphins which was super cool, even babies.

Response from Host, Apr 2026

Hi Amy, thanks for your review and feedback. We're happy you spotted both dolphins and calves. We're sorry you found there were too many people, and we'll follow up with the boat operator regarding the situation on the day of your excursion.

Nice dolphin swimming but the crew could do a better job

Anja_H, Aug 2024
We booked a private tour 2,5 hours ( 2 adults and two kids) starting at 7:30 a.m.with the boat Mjolnir with Ygor as the snorcheling guide and Winley as the skipper. We booked the tour with hotel pick up and return by taxi with Viator. The taxi driver was given the wrong starting point at Tamarin Bay ( he showed us the whats app notice he was given) . After waiting until 7:20 a.m. with no boat arriving he phoned the tour operator and got a new starting point at Grand Riviere Noire Jetty. We were there at 7:30 a.m. but the boat did not show up in time at that spot. Finally the tour started at 8 a.m. with many other boats. First spot with one dolphin was directly in Grand Riviere Bay with muddy water and no visibility. So we decided against that spot. Second spot close to Tamarin Bay was good visibility with 5 bottlenose dolphins. The Guide Ygor told us to be there for our safety, but in fact he always swam himself with a go pro directly toward the dolphins,to get good shots for the instagram account. so we have now lots of videos from him instead of the dolphins by themselves.. Good was that we could decide only for dolphin swimming instead of snorcheling close to the island. And the drop of points for the swimming with the dolphins where good, if the guide would not start chasing dolphin photos/videos for himself and the Mjolnir instagram page... But because of that decision to swim only with the dolphins we did not get the full time ...the tour ended after 1,5 hours instead of the 2;5 hours. In Fact the dolphin swimming is great but the tour and the saftey guide could be better, especially avoiding that the guide is chasing the dolphins... The crew could do a better job.

Awesome trip - use another tour operator

Leanne_S, Nov 2021
This has so much potential to be an awesome experience however our tour operator over filled the boat meaning our group was divided into 2 and had to alternate swims. Other boats had smaller groups where the whole boat could swim at every opportunity. We had 8 chances to go into the water as the Dolphins approached the boat but we’re only able to experience 4, only getting half the experience comparative to the other groups. Definitely worth doing but use another tour operator.

Response from Host, Nov 2021

Hi Leanne, thanks for your feedback. Please note that it's possible for the group to be divided into two, however, everyone should still have ample opportunity to swim with the wild dolphins. We will follow up with the boat operator on that day to see what happened. Thanks again for your feedback and we hope you enjoy the rest of your stay in Mauritius!

Not worth the money

Amit_S, Oct 2019
A dozen speed boats full of tourist racing around in circles trying to spot some dolphins. We hardly got to see 3 dolphins in an hour and a half, and just for a few seconds. The boat driver apologized that this sometime happens, but honestly I understand the dolphins - if I were a dolphin I would stay as far as I can from those noisy boats. On the way back we stopped at some place for snorkeling, there was supposed to be a "reef full of tropical fish" but all we could see were a bunch of zebra fish, swimming over old grey coral. Save your money, skip this

Response from Host, Oct 2019

Hi Amit, thanks for your comments. As the boat operator mentioned, occasionally the dolphins are not as social/friendly as they typically are. We're sorry you went on one of these rare days.

Tolle Tour - schwer zu toppen

Perfekt organisierte Tour. Sehr sympathischer Guide (Nash), der mit Leib und Seele diesen Ausflug geführt hat. Großes Lob. Absolut zu empfehlen.
