Wow, spectacular!! Our first hot air balloon ride and the views were really incredible. There were a lot of balloons around the foothills of the Atlas mountains, not in a bad/congested way but it made for some even better viewing as you ok silently drift watching the sunrise.
The whole trip was brilliant and worth the early start. Our driver, Abdul, was great very funny and friendly. Coffee/juice and pastry on arrival, then a short while later, you set back off again to wherever the weather has meant the balloons launch from. Interesting to watch the balloons inflate and then once you're in the basket, a short while later you're off in the air. Take off and landing incredibly smooth and effortless!!
Once we touched down, you get back in the vehicles and head back to camp for breakfast and mint tea, everything is incredibly well organised and 100% worth the money and the early rise to experience this.
Genuinely, one of the best trips/excursions we've ever done. Highly recommended!!

All aspects of this experience were great.
WhatsApp night before to confirm pick up location and time. Pick up was at the nearest possible point to our riad (about a 10 min walk due to being deep in the Medina).
Transfer was smooth (and we caught a couple of extra minutes of shut eye due to the start). Pastries, coffee and juice served on arrival, watching some of the earlier flights around the tents.
Then back into our transfer vehicle out to the balloon.
Staff were wonderful and friendly.
The ride was amazing with around 45 minutes of flight time. Amazing views and a real new experience.
Then after a mildly bumpy landing (I'd have been disappointed if it was too smooth), back into the transfer for a berber breakfast. There was almost too much choice and would've been a little useful to know what the different items were, but just picked and tried.
This was an enjoyable experience and the whole process from booking onwards was excellent. The pilot (Yanis) was the star as he explained and answered all questions. The views were breathtaking and the food was also very good. Would recommend highly.
This was such a fun experience. Berk and his crew were fantastic in making sure we felt safe and understood what was going on. They were funny and kind to everyone. The flight itself was surreal. I love every single moment of it. The breakfast was filling and abundant. They really did a great job on the breakfast. My only regret is, I think they forgot to show us the drone shot of the flight! I wanted to see that.
We loved this. It was worth the early time and wake up. Seeing the sunrise was truly the best experience! The food and hospitality were great too, Captain Vurald made us feel safe, have fun, and was very nice as well :)
Great trip and experience. Very well organized. They picked us up at the hotel and an easy trip to the destination.
This has potential but the communication isn't good, your start time isn't correct and pickup time is much earlier. The driver got lost and delayed our start by 30 minutes so our flight was cut short. Use another company if you do this, better yet choose another city for this activity!
Wow; What an experience! Flawless pickup, provided coffee or tea in the morning. An UNFORGETTABLE balloon ride with the smoothest landing ever. Followed by a complete berber breakfast spread. 10/10 don't hesitate. So glad we booked this excursion. The driver, ground crew and pilot Yanis were all amazing!
They sent a text previous day about pick up - they were punctual . Excursion was as promised . I went solo and it was not a problem

Just wow … so well organised, amazing team and so helpful. It was such a peaceful experience and enhanced so much by the 80 plus balloons that all went up together.
Tips:
Take water, don’t take too many layers as it’s lovely and warm, breakfast was filling and authentic.

Very Disappointing! Our Hot-Air Balloon Experience was cancelled 30 minutes before we were scheduled to be picked up. Several other people at our hotel were picked up and taken to their experience but we were cancelled. No reason was given. This has happened 3 times to myself and others in our group. We will definitely be looking to other experience companies other than Viator in the future. We are not sure if they overbooked the experience as we were a group of 11 ladies. Terrible service!
I booked this tour weeks in advance through Viator. The night before, without warning and past the cancel window, the company (Marrakech by Air) changed the pickup time and location via the app — moving it to a spot across town in the pitch dark.
I messaged them right away to flag the problem. No response. I ended up making it to the location but missing the pickup window because of a last-minute change I never agreed to.
As a solo female traveler waiting alone there was uncomfortable. Multiple men came up to me while I was waiting asking what I was doing, groups walking by trying to start conversations.
What followed was the real issue: total silence and evasiveness.
- I messaged them directly in the app — no reply.
- I reached out through whatsapp — no reply.
- Viator contacted them on my behalf — they refused to engage.
- My riad host called to help sort it out — they told her not to call again and blocked their number.
- When I went back to Viator with all of that information, the company only agreed to rebook if I paid an additional fee.
By that point I no longer trusted this company with my safety or my money, so I chose to lose the cost rather than deal with them again. I booked a different tour operator directly afterward. The contrast in professionalism and communication was night and day.
I'd urge other travelers, especially those going solo, to book elsewhere. A company that changes safety-relevant logistics last-minute and then refuses all communication — including blocking a third party trying to help — isn't one I can recommend.
Also, go direct. It's the same companies and you save money not using 3rd party. I ended up booking with BallonAir and enjoyed the experience.
Super awesome experience. Great breakfast before and after and team is very accommodating. However not all times are ‘sunrise’ we did the 6:30 slot and the sky was already fully in the sky by the time we were up in the air around 8. If you want actual sunrise pick an earlier time like 5:30
Early start if you book the "first flight out" but worth it.

We had an absolutely amazing hot air balloon experience in Marrakech with a traditional Berber breakfast. We were picked up from our hotel and first taken to the first site, where we enjoyed fresh pastries with a choice of coffee or juice while the balloon was prepared.
The flight itself was incredible—watching the sun rise over the Atlas Mountains is something we’ll never forget. Captain Elena was brilliant: professional, entertaining, and clearly very experienced. We felt completely safe and well looked after throughout.
After landing, we were treated to a delicious traditional Moroccan (Berber) breakfast in a tented camp; authentic, tasty, and the perfect way to end the morning. Highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Marrakech!

The event was well managed. Starting from pick up to drop the staff were attentive. All the activities, crews and staff were friendly throughout. Time was respected. Ballon activity was fun, pilot was informative as well.
A fabulous experience with some amazing photos. Dont forget camera or mobile! You need a decent shoe when alighting as it is very rough terrain. Many had flip flops on and found it difficult.
Cannot fault from start to finish.
I mean from arranged transfer til drop off. It exceeded our expectations. On arrival coffee & croissant then back to bus & took to your hot air balloon. Your up for Approx 40 mins. The pilot explained how it worked. The views were incredible. The landing was so smooth and we all got a certificate & a worker gladly took some photos. Then back for full breakfast feast, which was lovely before heading back. Our female driver did a great job too. Would highly recommend this trip. Well worth it & the early morning rise !!
We were picked up at 6 am and arrived at the site at 6.30 am, 30 minutes before sunrise. We were offered a croissant, coffee or tea, and juice. Unfortunately, we had to wait nearly an hour to get into the hot-air balloons, so we missed the sunrise.
It was a good trip but a lot of time waiting around and we only got 23 minutes on the Hot Air Balloon which our family of 4 were disappointed with. It was very expensive for what we got.

We booked the guaranteed first flight option and was so pleased with the sunrise from the balloon. All the staff were very very welcoming. It was well organised pickup was on time and communicated well beforehand.
