Itinerary

Escape Marrakech for the day and visit the highest waterfalls in North Africa on this full-day guided tour to Ouzud Falls, which includes transfers and a local guide for a hassle-free experience. Choose between an economical group tour or a private tour for a more personalized experience.

Your day starts with pickup from you Marrakech hotel or riad. Soak up the scenery of the High Atlas Mountains as you travel by air-conditioned minivan, with a stop along the way to break up the 3-hour journey.

At the Ouzoud Falls, you will have free time to explore the different paths that lead to the bottom and top of the cascades, or cool off with a swim. A boat ride can be included as part of your tour. You can also visit the cafes that line the river or look for Barbary apes that reside in the river valley. Upon return to Marrakech, you will be dropped back at your hotel or riad.

Ouzoud waterfall experience

The pick up is from a central location nearest to your hotel. We traveled about 10 mins from our hotel. It’s really very reasonably priced as booking from hotel or private is expensive. Driver stopped twice for comfort breaks at decent locations. The shuttle bus was okay, an older bus rather than a newer one with AC. Tour guide who took over once we got to Ouzoud Mohammed was amazing, really lovely. Enjoyed the monkeys and going right upto the waterfall in the boats. Lunch was okay. We purchased this separately.

Lots of interaction and photo ops with monkeys, beautiful waterfalls, and unique locals! We really enjoyed this. Get a fresh juice, take tons of pics, ride the boat to the waterfall, eat healthy grilled tagine lunch…it was a real treat. Hike is easy with correct footwear. Our guide was fantastic. Highly recommend!

The waterfall was a great experience. The boat ride at tge end was really nice, it provides for a cool off after what seems a long walk on a very hot day. Our tour guide was amazing too, he made all enjoyable.

The waterfalls are gorgeous to look at, and the boat ride is lots of fun! Our tour guide was helpful too. But the place was super hectic and I was worried at times that I would lose my guide. He did manage to get all 16 of us around safely though! Phew!

Unbelievable beauty of the Ouzoud Waterfalls was worth the drive from Marrakesh. A great experience enjoyed by whole family which culminated with a boat ride to see the waterfall up close - absolutely stunning!

All in all very good excursion, especially comparing it to the price with the travel agents. Our driver was lovely and told us the plan as we left and brought us back to the hotel too. The guide at the falls Mohammed was great, very chatty and answered our questions. He grew up there so he knows a lot. The spot you stop at for lunch is brilliant and very well priced. Added bonus they don’t charge for the water. The included boat trip was fun, though short but not much to see and we got a fantastic video taken by the driver. The monkeys are near the end of the excursion and if you don’t hold any food they don’t bother you at all. Would really recommend this one.

Wow it was amazing, it was a long journey but well worth it. The guide was really good and took lots of photos for us. The boat ride was brilliant and we stopped and had lunch halfway back up, lunch was delicious.

Imad our guide was amazing very nice, friendly and helpful. The views were spectacular and the food at the restaurant was very good. I recommend having Imad as your guide (his brother was a good assistant) and separately the boat driver takes excellent photos and videos too!

The Ouzoud Waterfalls is a beautiful location in Morocco, unfortunately the driver and guide ruined this experience. The driver never provided his name and drove us to the waterfall while chatting on his cellphone the entire 3 hour trip from Marrakech. The guide Mohamed was nice but didn't provide much information regarding the waterfalls or area. He basically walked in front of everyone and we just followed him for the 600 steps down/up/around the waterfall. A member of our group fell in the steps and the guide didn't even notice. The lunch was nice and overlooking the waterfalls. The worst part of the trip came at the end (two minutes after getting into the van to head back to the Marrakech) the van was stopped by the police and we were advised by the driver that everyone who wasn't wearing their seat belt would have to get off the van, present their passport to the police, and pay a 300 DH fine to the police (roughly 30 USD). Mind you, we were never advised that seat belts were required by law (we had been on other tours and taxis before this and hadn't been warned), there was no signage in the van, and the driver himself didn't not have his seat belt on causing the warning alarm in most vans/cars to beep while we were driving. Secondly, with the window blinds closed, how were the police to know who in the tour had their seat belts on (none of the 15 persons on this tour were aware or had their seat belts on). The entire situation seemed like a shake down and we protested. At the end, two men of our group were asked to step outside and speak the police, who gave them a warning. Upon returning to the van, the driver lectured the group about respect and proceeded to drive the 3 hours back with no rest stop. At the end, the driver advised us that he lived far away from the Medina and dropped us off at the entry of the Medina instead of our original pick-up/drop-off spot. Luckily by this time we knew our way around the Medina, which can be very confusing and tricky. As originally, stated the waterfalls are beautiful and should be seen but with I recommend another tour company.

If you're reading this, I would not suggest this company because, in spite of my repeated calls and messages, the operator didn't even attempt to return my calls or respond. After reading several reviews that said the driver failed to show up and left the tourists stranded. I messaged Viator since I was afraid this might happen to me, and they suggested that I make a reservation with another firm. This next company actually responded and provided me with the pick-up times with less than two hours remaining.

The waterfall was beautiful. It was natural and breathtaking. There were also monkeys near it which was a nice surprise. I was very excited to see monkeys in a natural habitat, and they were friendly to people. Totally worth it.

The trip was good value with hotel pick up and drop off included. Mustapha the driver was efficient and friendly; Muhammad the tour guide was friendly and looked out for the group. Didn’t feel pressured, was a comfortable tour with enough time given to see the sights.

The tour and the waterfalls are nice but it is a very long trip (5 hours on the bus) to see sonly the waterfall. I would recommend adding some stops and make it more interesting... less time with monkeys

First experience of Morocco

Absolutely fantastic as long as you don’t mind one section of heights/sheer drop. What is not advised by the tour is that you treck down the height of the falls, 110 metres then climb the same by very basic steps/boulders/stones/1/2metre drops. The boat ride depends upon your rower as to whether you get soaked or just sprayed from the falls….. the majority thoroughly enjoyed it and the boat guys were great fun. Be aware that on the climb back up the guide stops at a specific restaurant and there is a standard charge for the meal. The food was good but for us not worth the amount charged. It is a beautiful area. However the experience was well worth the trip, our driver was very careful and the guide was very knowledgeable and considerate, recognising individual needs.

Great Way to see the Falls

This tour is just of the Ouzoud Falls. The tour includes a bathroom break on the way to and from the tour. The Ouzoud Falls part of the tour includes opportunity for photos from the top of the falls and the bottom. There is also an Argan oil tour midway through the decent to the bottom of the falls. At the bottom of the Falls there is a boat ride close to the base of the falls and is followed by lunch overlooking the falls. There are also a couple of opportunities to see the monkeys, but the "best" ones can be found at the top of the climb back up (at the end of the tour). The lunch was 120Dh plus drinks and had many options (including vegetarian). The tour around the falls also has many steps and steep areas, but the tour guides make sure to go slow, so it is easy for everyone.

Our guide yousuf was so lovely and he ensured everyone was taken care of, he explained a lot about the history of the water fall and how the nomads migrate within seasons he also allowed us to take breaks In between walks to take pictures and gave us little stops to take a break if you wanted to buy anything from the mini souks. We were also taken to a restaraunt, the food wasn’t so great but is edible so just be careful with what you pick as there’s very limited options available. The only thing that was not mentioned is that there is a lot of walking that is done and A LOT of STEPS so just be prepared for the walk before hand and carry water as it can get tiring. They also give you an opportunity to take pictures with the monkeys and feed them you’ll get a few people asking for money for the nuts just say no and walk off. The boat ride was just beautiful, felt very surreal if you’re a nature lover and wear comfortable shoes. I would recommend this place during the colder seasons as we did manage to get a good experience as the weather wasn’t too hot so it was bearable so perhaps if you make a plan to come do pick it during the beginning of the year or the end of the year and not in the summer

I could not recommend this tour more. This was our best trip from Marrakech. Stop along the way for toilet break and snacks. Our tour guide Mhzihour lhoucine was fantastic. So knowledgeable and friendly. Made sure we got the most out of our trip. Took us to all of the best views of the waterfalls and photo spots, took many photos for us. We would like to use this review to thank him for the amazing day.

Our tour guide made all the difference on our excursion. he is a local Ouzoud, Yousiff, was awesome. He made sure our group was well taken care of as we were at different levels of ability to walk the path(s). The hike down was so beautiful and the Monkeys were very entertaining. Once at the falls he made sure we were accommodated on the boats and lunch. The boat ride to the falls, the captain was so funny and took time to capture the falls and a movie of us😀. All 600 steps up were fun as well, monkeys, 🐒🐒LOL!! Thank you very much for the history and fun!

Good experience, poor meal

Friendly staff and recommended experience. Fair price as well. My only problems are the fact that we were picked up too early to obtain breakfast. ( they picked us up at 7:40am) We were taken to a cafe before arriving at the falls which had no breakfast available, just coffee & bags of chips/cookies for sale. I’m assuming these tour companies have some sort of agreement with this cafe as every other agency stopped at this cafe as well. We then had to wait until 1pm to eat where we had some mediocre food at the waterfall restaurant that was fairly expensive for what it offered. Three stars may be harsh but wonderful experiences can be ruined by something as simple as missing a meal/ having to eat at the falls restaurant as late as 1pm.

It was a very nice experience. The busride was very well arranged and save. The driver was also very kind and communicated very well. The guide (Youssef) was very helpful and was taking good care of us because I broke my knee. We would recommend this experience to everyone when you are going to visit Marrakech.
