It's a short 2 to 3 hours drive south of Manila. The driver, Miel, picked me up at 4 am. He is a great person to talk with and a great company throughout the drive. On the way back he has also stopped at an incredible fruit store on the road to allow me tasting the most delicious pineapple and bananas I have ever had! Mount Batulau is an incredible landscape. The ascent is smooth and easy until the last peak where the path narrows thin and you walk literally on tbe crest of the mountain to then pull yourself on ropes to climb the summit. The views are gorgeous and lush green all around and all the way. So incredibly panoramic. Being a Sunday I have encountered some crowd on the summit. I had a bit of a mismatch with my guide who did not come as he called himself sick at the very last minute. Miel, the driver, was great to find me another one once arrived at Mount Batulao. To be honest, you don't need one as the path is well beaten. But it suppports the local community. Before entering the mountain you walk through a little charming village. So nice, so authentic. If I can make a point, I encourage the village leaders to ensure the path amd the mountain is weel mainatined and plastic is cleaned as otherwhise they will soon risk to loose from such an incredible spot of the Philippines within an easy reach from Manila!

I would not recommend this hike to anyone looking for a 'moderate' experience. The difficulty level was completely misrepresented—this hike was hard, exhausting, and dangerous. We've done several hikes before, but this one was by far the toughest and longest, not suitable for moderate hikers at all. On top of that, the weather was foggy and rainy, which they failed to mention beforehand. We couldn’t see any of the promised views, and the trail was covered in mud, making it even worse. The only positive was the tour guide, who did her best despite the terrible conditions. One star just for her effort."

This trip was the highlight of my time in the Philippines so far. The scenery was so bucolic atop the mountain and hiking in the early morning was so serene. I loved my tour guide, Genesis. He was so knowledgeable about the area of Tagaytay, the mountains, and he was a very funny guy. There was not a dull moment at all. Our mountain guide, PJ, was such a sweet fellow. He helped me get around on the slippery rocks and mud, and he even sang with me a bit. I enjoyed the beautiful scenery of Mt. Batulao, and I thoroughly enjoyed my hiking buddies that went with me. Thank you for such a memorable time. I will never forget it.

The guides were amazing, Ellé picked me up and Alfred pur local guide practically danced up the mountain. The views were incredible. I needed some help coming down due to the steepness and Alfred was great. It’s an early start but completely worth it.

I had a great hiking trip thanks to tour guide Jonathan, driver Loni (not sure about the spelling) and young local guide Sandor (not sure about this spelling either). Jonathan and Loni did pick me up at the hotel at 4 am as decided. The ride to the place where the hike started went smoothly and we also stopped on the way so that I could buy som breakfast. The weather was not perfect and the road sometimes slippery but the views were spectacular and it was not a very tough hike except for some few parts when we had to use roops. After the hike did Jonathan and Loni join me for a genuin filippino noodle soup lunch. The way back took a while because of the traffic but all in all I had a great time.

The guide and driver We’re great. Very professional and knowledgeable. The early start was well worth it! Beautiful hike!

Awesome hike, good guide, great views, close to the city, still have plenty of time afterwards to do what you wish. The views were outstanding , of all the hikes we took , best photogenic trek to the top so far. Some climbing involved, i basically am healing from a burn on my right foot , still made it. Two thumbs up
