This has been the best thing we have done so far on our trip to CR. Scott is an incredible host. Made us feel so welcome and he’s so generous with his time and knowledge. The food we prepared was absolutely delicious and plentiful! Highly recommend this for a fun and unique experience.

We had a very nice cooking class with Scott. The space is very nice and airy with view of the volcano. Food and drinks were delicious.

Chef Scott was amazing! We had the best time learning to make the yummiest dishes!
I’ve made ceviche for years, but this was hands down the BEST ceviche I’ve ever had.
He kept all the techniques simple and true to the culture. The empanadas were delicious! And the original mojito recipe 👌🏼 Highly recommend this class for ALL skill levels of cooking!

It was my partner and I's first time taking a cooking class, and the experience absolutely blew us away. Wonderful food, hospitality, learning techniques, and most importantly, unforgettable memories. It's a must-do activity in La Fortuna suitable for all ages. We had the best time! Chef Scott was amazing and the food was so good. I read through different reviews and so happy we picked this one. Actually got to cook and had a variety of cocktails with local fruits that were delicious. Open kitchen overlooking the volcano and town…couldn’t ask for a better setting. Seriously if you’re gonna do a cooking class this is the one!!

This was one of our favorite things that we did on our trip to Costa Rica. The food was so good and was a really hands on experience. Also they have a dog rescue there and we volunteered to walk dogs after cooking.

This was hands-down the best thing we did on our trip to Costa Rica! We took the ceviche and empanada cooking class with Costa Rica Cooking Classes, and it was incredible from start to finish.
Scott and Charlie were the most wonderful hosts — warm, welcoming, and full of great energy. The class is held in Scott’s beautiful restaurant, which also doubles as his home and a dog rescue! We got to cook and enjoy our meal alongside three amazing pups — Chico, Orejas, and a sweet little puppy found just last week (I took the liberty of renaming her Mojito 🥹).
We made guacamole, tortilla chips, ceviche, empanadas, mojitos, and banana flambé, all from scratch. Everything was absolutely delicious, and the experience was the perfect mix of hands-on learning, local flavor, and pure fun.
Meanwhile, Charlie kept us well fed with unlimited, freshly made mojitos — including pineapple and passion fruit versions that were out of this world.
Highly, highly recommend — it’s a must-do in La Fortuna!

My wife and I had a wonderful time. Scott and Charlie were awesome. We learned how to make Costa Rican ceviche using Ginger Ale. Being Mexican, that is not something we use so it came as a surprise; however, it was really good. We also had empanadas with Chicken and a banana dessert.
Overall, the experience was awesome. We had a great time while drinking mojitos prepared by Charlie. Ask for a pineapple mojito, that was the best one.
This class is perfect for beginners, or people who don’t have culinary experience. Trust, I could barely make sandwiches, but this class was easy and fun.

This was an incredible and amazing hands on experience. The class is in a kitchen surrounded the sights and sounds of Arenal. Chef Scott is personable, and it’s obvious he enjoys sharing his knowledge of cooking with others. He demonstrates skills (proper ways to slice, chop etc.) , and then he allows you an opportunity to practice. The food we made was delicious! This was a fun, interactive, educational, hands on experience that I will remember forever. I look forward to making empanadas and ceviche once I return home. I even got to hear a howler monkey! Highly recommend!

Totally, totally and more totally worth the experience. Chef Scott and his staff are superb. Besides the instructions they were entertaining, personable and totally attentive. The infrastructure for the class was perfect.

Amazing experience! We did this for a party of 8 (4 adults and 4 kids, ages 10 and 7) and it was so great! We learned cutting skills (kids watched), how to make DELICIOUS rum cocktails (and mocktails), ceviche, empanadas and an amazing banana dessert (delicious even if not a banana lover). HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Amazing experience to be cooking with a local chef (Scott) , learning about Costa Rican Cuisine and different prepping techniques as well as easily repeatable recipes. The drinks and food were SO good (and the leftovers even better for breakfast the next morning) .
The cats and dogs were so lovely too and made it so much better with their little personalities! …. And that kitchen- wow!
Overall a fantastic experience. Definitely something to do if you’re in LaFortuna area!

We had such a great time. Scott was very friendly and clearly enjoyed teaching this class. The food and drinks were all delicious. He did a great job of giving each of us hands on training and explaining the entire process. I highly recommend taking a class from Scott.

Scott was a great teacher! His instructions were easy to follow for even the most basic cook (me). We learned not only about how to make the food, but how other cultures do it differently and other ways to add variation. The pork was perfectly marinated and incredibly moist. 10/10

Was vacationing in Costa Rica with my wife, celebrating our wedding anniversary & babymoon. She loves cooking at home, so going to a cooking class to learn how to make Costa Rican food was a top request for her.
Location of the class is just a little outside of town, so it's quiet, peaceful and beautiful scenery surrounding it. Takes place at a small cantina/restaurant, so you are greeted by the manager/bartender when you arrive.
Had a small group, just 4 people including my wife and I. The class was led by a very well qualified chef, was great to chat with and learn from. He was very sociable and accommodating to all age and skill levels.
Got lots of instruction, learned a lot, got to eat a LOT of delicious food, and you leave feeling full and inspired to try making the recipes at home!
PS. The location also supports a small dog rescue, and there are several local dogs that hang around the property, all very social and nice. We love dogs, so no problem for us.

What an amazing experience! Chef Scott has a really special thing going with what he brings and had pretty much every detail dialed in to make this such a memorable and incredibly unique experience, so much that you’ll want to hang around after the class. The views, food, location, everything was so wonderful. I’m an avid cook and even I learned a lot of new tricks. Scott also runs a dog rescue and there are several friendly pups onsite which add to the whole experience. He’s got an incredible thing going on there! It’s a must do for someone looking for a fun, low key, and unique experience.

What a fun and well plan out experience! Chef Scott was an amazing teacher. I must say that I am not a good cook. At all. Nope. Chef Scott actually got me to understand how to use a knife and make an empanada. I don’t eat meat and he was considered enough to help me make this to fit a vegan lifestyle! I am not a guacamole fan either and I’m pretty sure I ate half the bowl of what we made because it was so good! The dessert was the highlight of the meal so just wait. In addition, he has a dog rescue, which was such a bonus to hear how compassionate he is towards saving animals. You will absolutely love this experience!

Really fun, really tasty, family-friendly activity. Scott keeps the class size small and it makes a great change of pace during your trip. We highly recommend it -- and even saw a toucan at the window!

We enjoyed our cooking class with Chef Scott. He taught us some basic cooking skills while making ceviche, empanadas and a banana flambé. The food was delicious (the best ceviche we had on our trip!) and we made enough empanadas to take some with us. We can definitely recommend this experience if in the La Fortuna area.

This is a must do in La Fortuna. The space is breathtaking (we saw multiple toucans right in the trees around us) on a second story kitchen area. Scott is an amazing chef and instructor. We learned how to make Costa Rican mojitos, guacamole, ceviche, chicken empanadas. A special banana flambé for dessert- perfection. He also has a dog rescue on the property which made it even more fun. My husband even loved it and he doesn’t normally enjoy cooking! Thank you Scott!
