This experience was absolutely amazing!! Fantastic farm tour and we learned a lot. We loved tasting the fresh sugar cane juices. The traditional cooking class in their family home on their farm was the highlight! This family is so kind and very enjoyable to be around! They were also so good to us and treated our daughter so well too, very family friendly and understanding for our young baby/toddler also! The food was so delicious and we took home some valuable skills back to our home! We are now back home and were so proud of ourselves to make a delicious Costa Rican dish back at home using the skills we learned here and it tasted so good! We can't recommend this experience enough! Such a memorable birthday and we will never forget it!

Huber & Mary are awesome! They were great with the kids and we all really learned a lot. We toured through the garden and learned about herbs, medicinal plants, and organic agriculture. Then we made our own juice and traditional CR dinner. It was all delicious! To top it all off, we saw a pair of green parrots and 3 pairs of red Macaw parrots flying through the farm and roosting in a tree. Truly an amazing experience!

Fabulous visit to the farm, knowledgeable tour guides telling us all about the plants and herbs then cooking a lovely meal after with ingredients we had picked

It’s an organic farm that is a medicinal garden! It’s wonderful! The volunteer staff were able to discuss all, with volunteers speaking different languages were with those who spoke those languages. So very personalized

An amazing family fun experience. The family is wonderful and Humberto and his brother gave an amazing tour of the farm and were so knowledgeable. It was a pleasure to spend time with them and would I highly recommend this experience. Great for couples, family and groups.

We loved our tour of the family farm and the cooking class of a typical Costa Rican dinner!
Hubert was very knowledgeable of the area, and all the flora and fauna we saw and heard throughout the evening. The fresh sugar cane juice was delicious, especially with added herbs from the garden. We had never made handmade tortillas before, but we loved every minute. We ate dinner with them and engaged in welcome and intriguing conversations in both English and Spanish. It was extremely memorable, and we enjoyed getting to know Hubert and his mother as they shared their garden, kitchen, and home with us!
If you're on the fence about booking this tour, we can assure you it will be worth your while!

This was one of our favourite experiences in Costa Rica. Our host Huberth was knowledgeable and made us feel comfortable. We enjoyed touring the farm and the variety of vegetables and herbs grown here and then collecting them and cooking them. It's always amazing to see the process of growing food and the hard work that goes behind it - something we take for granted all the time. Huberth was able to take our dietary preferences in consideration and we prepared a delicious meal and enjoyed it together. Thank you for the amazing experience.

Huberth was an amazing host!
His pride in his family's farm was evident as he showed us around the farm. We got to whip up a tasty concoction of sugar cane and some of the medicinal herbs growing in the garden and then learned about traditional cooking as we made chicken, rice, beans, and a salad from the garden. We even got to try some homemade chocolate for dessert.

Excellent tour of the garden, excellent meal. Our guide seemed excited to talk about all the different plants grown in the garden (and there were lots! Basil, stevia, cilantro, lemongrass, anise, mustard, sugarcane, salad greens among many others), and we learned a lot. We used these plants to make a juice & cook a meal afterward, which was all really satisfying to do (and the end results were delicious!). It really was the type of experience that would inspire anyone to have a big garden in the future 😄
Our guide was very friendly and did a great job explaining things and answering questions. The chef we cooked alongside with helped us perfect our tortilla-making technique, and seemed to enjoy our involvement in the cooking process. I VERY highly recommend that everyone try this tour, not just the foodies!

Hubert Sr and Hubert Jr greeted us as we arrived and Hubert Jr conducted the tour. We left right at 4p as scheduled.
We got an educational tour through their family garden. He gave us different herbs and had us guess through smell and taste what they were. We collected the herbs we needed for dinner.
After the tour, we went to the pavilion where we made our own fresh sugarcane juice. Then we added the herbs we had collected and made a flavored / herbal sugarcane drink.
After cleaning up, we went to the vegetable garden and collected the vegetables we needed to make a fresh salad with dinner.
We returned to the house where we met mom who had everything ready for us to start preparing dinner. We chopped everything for the meal. We learned how to make chicken and rice - including all the seasonings. We then learned how to make tortillas and how to cook them up. We learned about plantains and different ways to cook them. We sliced them thin and fried them up as part of our meal.
We sat down to dinner - Hubert Jr and Mom joined us. We enjoyed a very nice discussion. The entire experience was educational, fun, and very personable. We got to experience a bit of Costa Rican culture with a local family.
Hubert Jr was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. He was very enthusiastic and proud of his heritage. When he discovered we were interested in the local wildlife, he took his time to point out the different animals and birds we saw while walking through the gardens. His English was excellent.
Mom was extremely friendly as well. She didn’t speak English, but we were able to communicate well enough with Hubert Jr jumping in when needed.
I highly recommend this activity if you’d like to learn a little about the local and traditional foods of Costa Rica.

Excellent opportunity to get to know a Costa Rican farming family, and delicious food dishes. Hubert speaks excellent English and knows the farm intimately. Enjoyed the walk and guessing game of the produce he picked. Made sugar cane juice, then met his mother and helped prepare lunch. I made my first tortilla! Chicken and rice, salad...we ate and chatted. I recommend for any visitor wanting Pura Vida and genuine Costa Rican hospitality.

We had a fantastic evening with Huberth on his family’s farm. Walking around the farm and collecting some of the ingredients for dinner was a great experience. The vast number and diversity of what they grow on the farm was incredible. Even though it was raining, Huberth made it so enjoyable that we didn’t really notice or care about the rain. We were welcomed into their home by his mother who taught us how to make an authentic Costa Rican dinner that was absolutely delicious. Huberth was polite, friendly, knowledgeable and we really enjoyed the relaxing comfortable conversation sitting around the table while we ate. A truly wonderful experience!!

We booked this last minute and the experience exceeded our expectations. Our family of 6 (parents + young adults) really enjoyed walking the farm and learning from the owners. It was fun gathering some of the ingredients and pleasantly surprised to help "Mom" in the kitchen cooking an amazing meal. The family was gracious, knowledgeable and hospitable.

We had a great time. Hubert taught us a lot and made great sugar cane drink for us. It's a great learning experience and a lot of fun.

This was a great experience for my daughter and I. The guide was very friendly and knowledgeable and when she did not know the answer she said she would find out. The walk through the garden was very interactive. We used all five of our senses during the walk. It was fun making home made tortillas.

The tour and dinner were a very positive experience. We first sampled a number of organically grown herbs on the farm (the tour guides were very knowledgeable, friendly, and engaging), and then we helped prepare a tasty dinner of salad, rice, chicken, and tortillas. My daughters and I enjoyed the evening and would definitely do it again.

Wonderful afternoon on the farm. What a great learning experience. And we even saw tucans and sloths. Thank you Huber and Desiree.

We are so glad we booked this tour/dinner. The tour of the farm was very interesting and we learned alot. We got to sample many of the garden plants and had fresh sugarcane juice with other produce juices mixed in (tumeric, ginger, lemongrass, mint, etc.) after that we cooked dinner together and everything we made and ate was amazing. Highly recommend!

It was interesting to see the sustainable farming practices used on the family farm and cook traditional costa rican food. Hubert was wonderful and we would highly recommend this activity for a fun cultural experience!

This was a truly amazing experience Shortly after we arrived, we were caught in a down pour, but we didn't care. We started with a personalized tour of an organic farm and picked some of the vegetables we used during the dinner preparation. We got to see how spices such as cinnamon, lemon grass, pepper (black and white) as well avocados, pineapple, and sugar cane are grown. We enjoyed learning about Costa Rican agriculture from Hubert and his family. We especially enjoyed the lesson on sugar cane and making a pre-dinner drink with guaro and learning a Costa Rican toast! Huberts, also shared with us about his background and how hard he had growing up. It was very moving. We don't eat meat, so they went out of their way to accommodate us We made a salad, vegetables, rice and beans, plantains and corn tortillas. We learned about Costa Rican spices, foods, and traditions and enjoyed a wonderful meal in their home. This was a true highlight of our trip! We would highly recommend it.

We got there it was down pouring rain and they gave us rain coats and umbrellas. Then we went to the garden and picked so many herbs like pepper, turmeric, ginger, lemon grass, mustards , mints, cinnamon everything fresh for a salad. then we went to the house and the kids helped cook it. We also made fresh lemonade with ginger on a press. They welcomed us into their house. this was lovely and we learned so much.

We really enjoyed this day! Walking through the farm and learning about the vast number of things they are able to grow here was so much fun. Then we headed inside to cook. I even bought ingredients at home to try to replicate one of the dishes we made. Hubert and his parents were so welcoming. Absolutely you should sign up for this experience.

This might end up being the best experience we had on our entire trip. Our teen boys loved it. The intimate dinner made in the family kitchen was authentic.

We had the most wonderful time at paraiso organico! It truly was such a magical experience to walk through the farm and learn about the various organic plants and fruits and vegetables! Nano was an excellent tour guide and we had the best time touring the farm with him! Don Huber and his wife and family were so incredibly welcoming. We loved having the opportunity to learn how to make a traditional Costa Rican dish with them and having dinner together. This experience is one we will never forget and we highly recommend it! Thank you so much to Nano and Don Huber and family! Fue un placer conocer Uds y muchisimas gracias por su hospitalidad y por darnos la bienvenida a su casa. Espero que nos veamos otra vez!
It was a pleasure to meet you and we are so grateful for your hospitality and for welcoming us into your home! We hope to see you again!

It was outstanding. We learnt so much about the medicinal properties of many bushes and flowers. We even tasted a few. We made a drink from sugarcane and then helped with dinner. We made homemade tortillas to go with the meal. A memorable evening .
