Book this tour! We had a spectacular day with Francisco! He was so knowledgeable about all of the animals and plants we encountered and you can tell he really enjoys teaching . We were a group of 4 adults and 3 kids (8, 10, and 12) and we all absolutely loved it.
I would 100% recommend Francisco and this tour- you will not regret it!

The purchase of your tour only covers the tour guide. You still have to pay for entry to the parks and food. If you go in busy season go an hour early. We were an hour late to our tours and as a result we didn’t get to go to the waterfalls at all, because by the time we did the hanging bridges and volcano, and lunch, the water fall was closed. We paid for a part of the trip that we did not get to do. I did not feel that there was transparency with the company when I purchased the tickets and the tour guide wasn’t organized enough to get us to all our activities on time. It was disappointing.
I will say that our tour guide was very kind and knowledgeable, however we didn’t get the whole experience, therefore I felt slighted because I paid for all three tours.

Hi Julie. The tour start time and location are very specific. If you arrive late, that's not the guide's fault. You must arrive at the tour time and location. The tour is designed for people who want to hire a private guide. Entrance fees are not included at any point. If they were, the price would be very, very different. Swimming at the waterfall may not be allowed due to rain for obvious safety reasons.
This private tour offered us the opportunity to experience several cool things in one day. We loved the beauty of nature and excitement of hanging bridges, the awe-inspiring view of Arenal volcano, and the thundering power of Fortuna waterfall. Our guide, Jason, was absolutely the best - knowledgeable, personable, thoughtful and just a delight. He made the tour so enjoyable, and with his "eagle eyes" spotted numerous snakes, frogs, etc. during the walks we never would have otherwise seen. He was well-versed on all the flora and fauna, and did excellent bird call imitations. He definitely made the day more enjoyable and informative.
Alexander was amazing. The ability to pivot and change based on what nature was doing was great we were able to see, learn, and experience cosa rica through the lens it deserves. Such an amazing experience and having a guide is so much better than going it alone.

My daughter and I had a wonderful time learning about the Arenal Volcano and Mistico park! We would have missed more than half of the fascinating facts and animal sighting without our fantastic guide, Rasta! His love for the rainforest and his passion in sharing his knowledge of the area is apparent even in the first few minutes of the tour. It’s also convenient (and delicious) to have lunch included and on the way between hikes. We learned so much more with Rasta about both Mistico and Arenal volcano than we would have if we visited the parks to hike on our own and he made it so enjoyable.
Juan C is a great guide. He is genuinely enthusiastic about the beautiful natural environment around La Fortuna and Arenal.
We did pay a bit extra for Juan to use his vehicle for the tours. His vehicle is small, but safe and very clean.
Juan is also very proficient with his spotting scope. He was able to take my phone and take stunning pictures through the scope.
On the Sunday we toured with Juan, there was another group doing an identical itinerary in a big tour bus. I was so happy we were with Juan rather than on a large tour. The private tour is definitely worth the negligible premium. Book with Juan. You won't regret it.
Thank you, Juan, for being punctured!! We had a great day with Juan, our private tour guide. We got to see some animals inside the Mystic Park. Juan used his telescope and was very skillful in setting up the telescope in no time. The price of this tour is just the "time" with the tour guide. Discuss with the tour operator if you want all-inclusive, including round-trip pick-up/drop-off, lunch, and entrance tickets, etc. Overall, we had a great day with Juan!!
My husband and I had an incredible time on the Hanging Bridges, Arenal Volcano, and La Fortuna Waterfalls tour in Costa Rica! From start to finish, everything was perfect. Our guide, Juan Carlos, was outstanding—super knowledgeable about the area and highley educated which made the whole experience even more memorable. Not only did he share interesting facts about the surroundings, but he also took us in his private car, which added a personal touch to the journey.
We got to see a variety of wildlife, including cows, an iguana, a toucan, a sloth, a viper snake and plenty of other amazing birds. Juan Carlos also took personalized photos of the wildlife that we saw with our smartphone camera through his telescope lens. The hanging bridges offered breathtaking views, and the Arenal Volcano and La Fortuna Waterfalls were just stunning. We highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the area—it was an unforgettable experience, and we felt lucky to have Juan Carlos as our guide. Five stars all the way!
I hired Juan as a private guide for my family of two adults and two children < 12 years old. Juan was simply great. He shared tons of knowledge, was very personable and was good with the kids. One aspect that I wasn't aware of beforehand (maybe it was my fault) but still worked out OK was that we used my rental car to go to the different locations. I was fine with it but for those without a rental car I suggest you ensure Juan is aware of that. Also, while I was aware of it also be clear that you have to pay for access tickets to the sites visited; the fee Juan charges is just for his time. Good luck Juan in growing your business further!
I had an amazing day, it was so much fun! We even stopped at an extra place that wasn’t on the itinerary. I would definitely recommend this trip.
Es war eine richtig schöne Tour. Auf der Fahrt zur ersten Station hat uns Juan etwas über die Geschichte und Kultur Costa Ricas erzählt.
Im Mistico Park angekommen haben wir Vögel und Schlangen beobachtet. Juan hat uns viel über die Tiere und den Wald erzählt und hatte kleine Bücher mit Bildern und Beschreibungen der Tiere dabei.
Im Lavafeld hat er uns erklärt wie der Wald und die Vegetation nach dem Ausbruch entstanden ist und hatte auch hier ein Buch mit Bildern parat, welche die Schäden des Vulkanausbruchs 1968 zeigten.
Das Essen in der Soda La Hormiga danach war sehr gut und auch preiswert.
Als letztes waren wir beim La Fortuna Wasserfall. Juan hat uns über die Entstehung des Parks aufgeklärt und wir haben sogar noch einen Gecko von ganz nahem sehen können.
Während den Fahrten zwischen den Stationen hat er uns viel über das Land erzählt. Die Zeit ist wie im Flug vergangen.
