I could not recommend this tour enough. If you love horses or just want a fun ride this is the place. We had route options to choose from due to the weather clouding the view of the volcano, so our group took a trip to the river instead. Carlos and his crew took great care of all the riders and were so patient with the less experienced ones. Running with the horses through the jungle had to be the highlight of my whole trip to Costa Rica.

Painful

Kelsey_P, Apr 2025
I used to ride horses when young in competitions, I work out and strength train 5 days a week so I'm not a weak person nor was this my first rodeo. Due to stirrups not being suitable for someone with a small stature and they could not adjust the besides to tie them up and twist them in a way that injured my ankle so much so I ended up with a swollen ankle I had to ice the next day. Aching muscles for 5 plus days since I had to use all my leg muscles to stay on horse with feet falling out of stirrups. Even hot springs could not help soreness. I had to cancel a $300 excursion the next day because of the pain. However Victor was a funny tour guide but I wish I had never done the tour due to unnecessary injury. Safety should come first for any company, if you can't accommodate smaller people do not offer service. I now have to file a claim for trip insurance.

Lovely day out

Jorge worked hard to give us a great experience despite my inability to go very fast on the horse (I could NOT get to trot without feeling like I was being paddled by a beefy nun!). The trail up to Arenal was lovely and we got to sit and soak in the amazing views.

Awesome!

Its amazeing! Great ride able to ride...not follow in a train of slowpoke horses. Our guide he was so good to stay back with other riders but let other ones gallop or open up ahead. Wear jeans!!! No flipflops!! We didnt of course we are experienced riders but some people didnt understand that flip flops and shorts are not gonna be fun for you after ride. You will be sore!

Great Ride!

I had an amazing time on the ride! I was used to most rides where you cannot do anything but walk through a trail but on this one we were able to trot and some even galloped along the way depending on the horse/rider. The guides were fun and knowledgeable about the area (volcano).

Best ride ever

Absolutely great...

Absolutely great experience, we took the river trip instead of volcano trip given the volcano was covered by cloud, but definitely worth it. Lots of ups and downs, and got into river. Guides are very friendly and responsible.

AVOID - Never got picked up

Never got picked up and was given no explanation so couldn’t do the tour. Managed to get a full refund through Viator.

Beautiful view of the...

Beautiful view of the Arenal Volcano! Stunning! One very important thing to know about this tour is that they take you pretty far out to get to the volcano so to make the tour time efficient the horses canter/run a lot of the time. If you are not comfortable with a cantering horse or an experienced rider this tour will be uncomfortable for you. My husband and I were not prepared for this part of the trip. We thought they would just walk! And remember to wear pants!! I wore shorts and ended up with some pretty bad sores on my ankles from the stirrups. That being said, the tour guides were amazing and so friendly and you can tell they love what they do and love their horses. Just be prepared and you will have an amazing adventure. They took us very close to the volcano with spectacular views where we rested and soaked in the area for about a half hour or so. The guides will take your pictures and have wonderful conversations with you. They are some of the friendliest people! It will be something to remember forever!

Amazing experience

Victor and the other guide who is a professional horse rider, who used to race were unbelievable! Excellent, funny and above all kept us safe.
