We had an absolutely fantastic time! We learned so much. It was presented in an educational and entertaining way. This area of Krakow is another world and actually going into a preserved bunker-wow. Understanding that period of communism in Poland was a rare opportunity to gain insights into current affairs. Our guide was marvelous. We highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants a unique and marvelous experience!

Guide was extremely knowledgeable of the subject matter discussed on the tour. Took us to several stops including time for coffee/tea to provide more details. It was a wonderful experience and opportunity.

Very good trip with friendly knowledgeable guide. An interesting look back at Krakow as a communist city. The scale of the project and the numbers of people involved in Nowa Huta was quite something. The Trabby added to the day, well worth it.

If you are interested in how life was in communist Poland this is the tour for you! We loved this tour on really enjoyed learning about the community Nowa Huta. Our guide was amazing and made our tour extremely enjoyable! We were picked up in one of the few cars allowed in communist times. We then were driven out to a community where a factory was built and many people were encouraged to move there. Along the way we learned a lot about communist Krakow. I highly recommend booking this tour. You won’t regret it!

This tour is the only way Nowa Huta. We had a great day out with the bonus of learning a ton about Nowa Huta. A big thank you to Crazy Mike for granting our request for the Tribant. My husband was like a kid at Christmas when it pulled up at our hotel.

If you are visiting Krakow this tour is a must. Absolutely hilarious from beginning to end. Our guides Tomasz and Mateusz were so funny whilst being very informative. I would definitely do this tour again, just for the comedic value. 10/10.

What a wonderful wealth of information this young lady Kornelia has! Very informative! The car was fantastic. What a treat. She went out of her way to find the Polish candy that we were looking for. I would consider taking any of her chores because she’s so informed.

Unique and fantastic experience touring around in an old communist car (we had the militia car). Our guide, Thomas, was excellent. Gave informative, fun, and humorous first hand perspectives and experiences of growing up in communist Nowa Huta and how it has changed since. We had an incredible time. Thank you, Thomas!

A really fascinating tour around the Nowa Huta area with Cornelia. Her stories and personal knowledge brought to life times gone by, with visits to shops and cafes making it like stepping back in time. The Trabbie made the whole thing a lot of fun. Thanks Cornelia. Highly recommended

Highlight of trip to Krakow. Guide was funny and knowledgable about the area, having grown up there. Absolutely fascinating tour - would thoroughly recommend.

thanks :)))))))))) we are here to be the highlight :))

This was one of the funnest tours we have ever been on! The guide was a character who hilariously entertained us throughout the entire tour. My cheeks hurt from smiling so much! I didn’t think I’d enjoy the vintage car without modern comfort, but it was very comfortable and just added another element to the experience. We learned a lot about the communist era in Poland and the bunker was one of the coolest places I’ve been.

I think you took a tour with Crazy Tom :) This is a walking joke and stunt! :)))))))

We've had a really good time with our guide (Michal). She was very knowledgeable and she was clearly passionnate with the content of the tour. We also loved eating at the milk bar and getting a real polish experience (non touristy).
Response from Host, Jul 2024
As we love all out of the beaten path! THX!

The entire tour was fascinating, and the guide was fantastic. We so enjoyed learning about the Soviet era and its aftermath from a local. Plus, he was super funny and entertaining. This was our top experience in Kraków.

This tour was one of the highlights of our trip to Europe. Cornelia was AWESOME! We could have spent the entire day with her.

Yes, she rocks!

Between Cornelia’s vast wealth of knowledge about Poland’s communist past and the amazing little car in which we drove all over Nowa Huta I have to say it was an afternoon I will never forget. I saw a bunker untouched since its doors closed decades ago, a store that looks like time stood still, and so much in between. Cornelia was entertaining and extremely knowledgeable about the not-so-distant past. I highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in Poland’s history.

We really enjoyed this tour. Our guide was really knowledgeable and gave us lots of facts about the history of communism in Poland. It was great being driven around the district of Nowa Huta in a blue trabant. If you like anything quirky and historical, then I recommend this tour for you.

Our driver was awesome. Totally crazy and fun guy. Never had a tour like this in my life. Don't miss it if you are ever in Krakow.

Our guide was awesome! He was so funny. So knowledgeable and overall great time. Would definitely come back and recommend

Great tour. A highlight of our time in Krakow. Best part was our tour guide Mat. He is great - fully explained Poland under communism, solidarity movement, and 1989 revolt, and present scene. Took us to Nova Huta, steel plant and Soviet era Bon shelter, Soviet restaurant and milk bar.

Wonderful experience with our fantastic guide Cornelia.
We would have loved to have had the whole day with her and visited some other places.
The old car was a joy.
History brought to life.
Would definitely recommend.

We had a great time. It was different from traditional tours. Enjoyed riding in the car and hearing all of the stories.

An excellent trip around an area you wouldn't think (or know) to visit!
Our guide, Kornelia, picked us up directly from our hotel, despite it not being one of the official collection points.
She was running a little late due to traffic that morning but messaged in advance to let us know.
The guide can make or break this kind of trip, and despite the horrible weather conditions on the day, Kornelia was enthusiastic and incredibly knowledgeable about the area and its history. She could tell us stories of the era and answer all the questions we had, and altogether made the trip very enjoyable!
We went for the deluxe option which included a trip to the Steelworks which was very interesting. Unfortunately, there is no longer electricity in the bunker, not the fault of the Crazy Guides, however, Kornelia was prepared and we were armed with an array of torches and continued to venture through the various underground rooms. If anything this created a slightly eerie feeling to this element of the tour however certainly added to the atmosphere of the place which has remained largely unchanged in the past 60 years.
There was also a trip to an authentic Milk Bar included. This was like stepping back in time, the setup of the place hadn't changed at all. We arrived shortly before lunch so there was still a good selection of food and drink to choose from.
Overall this was a fantastic trip, highly recommend it!

An excellent trip back into time with an excellent and knowledgeable tour guide. This was the second time in three years that I’ve done this tour and would do it again if I return to Krakow.
Yogender_R, Oct 2022
This tour was amazing. Maceij (sorry if I misspelled your name) was amazing. His personal stories added an amazing layer to the tour that really humanized the Communist period. The Trabant itself was amazing to ride around in (whoever's maintaining it is doing an amazing tour).
Nicola_A, Aug 2022
Wonderful tour guides Anthony and Thomas explained everything to us really well. Loved the whole tour and Thomas is a character you won’t forget. We laughed so much our tummy’s hurt!

Great trip, guide Kornelia was brilliant. Trabant ride gave the trip a novel twist. Nowa Huta is very interesting & this was the perfect way to see it

This tour was certainly the highlight of our weekend in Krakow over the bank holiday weekend. Our guide, Maciej, made the tour a very special experience in being both passionate and very knowledgeable about the development of the Nowa Huta area and Poland during Communism. Maciej was able to relate his family’s experience of living and working in the Soviet inspired new town which greatly benefited the historical context.
The tour was very well organised, my wife particularly liked the folder of communist era photographs shown to us at the oldest cafe in Nowa Huta - a very welcome coffee break- whilst I loved the civil defence bunker - a real time capsule to the 1970s/1980s Cold War.
Our Trabant ride greatly enhanced the experience with the rain dripping in through the roof just adding to the authenticity! Highly recommended for those looking to do something a bit different in Krakow….
Gennaro_P, Jul 2020
I loved this experience. The tour was probably one of the best thing that I have experienced in Krakow. Thanks also to our driver who was fantastic. She brought us in a total different area from the city center, something that probably the occasional tourist wouldn't go visit by himself. The Communist tour was really interesting and the guide/driver explained lots of things.
We ended up eating in the most traditional milkbar and it was an amazing experience. Thanks a lot!
Response from Host, Oct 2020
thanks for the great feedback. It helps to boost our positive PR that is very very important during these bad for tourism times ! :)
Darius_R, Jan 2020
Great little tour, liked the guide. The Trabant really added to the immersive experience. Works well as a short trip when visiting Auschwitz on Saturday and filling the time before the airport on the Sunday morning. Our guide even drove us to the airport and saved us the price of a taxi.

We were touring Eastern Europe for a month. This tour was a major highlight of our trip. The itinerary was very well thought out. Touring Nowa Huta, the Soviet « utopian » city in an era car and experiencing a little bit what it was like to live there (including the propaganda) far exceeded our expectations. What really made the trip was our guide. Claudia is a outstanding young woman. Her knowledge and passion made a deep impression on us in helping to understand life in Cold War Kraków. And her mastery of the ancient Trabant is fantastic. We would strongly recommend this tour with Claudia.
