As a lover of sake and other types of Japanese liquor, I was quite excited for this tour and had meticulously researched before deciding on this one with Andy. He did not disappoint! He was a passionate, knowledgeable, and patient guide, giving us a taste of this wonderful drink’s history and literally of sake (multiple!) itself.
My friend and I highly enjoyed learning about the process of making sake. We were in awe at the labor-intensive work that the brewmasters and specialists undergo to create their product. I have tried all 3 breweries in my home country, so I was keen to see them all; I only wished I had thought to shop and take a bottle or 3 with me! I felt the knowledge imparted by Andy made me appreciate these breweries more and taste the nuances within the sakes better.
Whether you are new to the world of sake, have a fair bit of knowledge, or simply love the drink and want to delve deeper, I recommend this tour and would book it again in a heartbeat!
This was a genuinely deep dive into sake-making with an authentic sake expert - perfect for sake enthusiasts like us. We loved it! Andrew’s expertise and commitment to his craft are wonderful. And we got to taste an excellent selection of sales too. Highly recommended.
What a privilege to be given a tour by Andrew, who is not only an expert on the history of sake, but also actually makes it using traditional methods for one of the most prominent manufacturers. Andrew was easy going but passionate, and was able to mould his information to the aspects we were interested in. This tour is both great for the tasting experience but also those who really want to know more about the context of sake.

Andrew was a great tour guide. He provided a lot of information about the local breweries and villages, as well as his personal experience working at the brewery. It was a fun tour of the different aspects of sake tasting and local culture. Highly recommend the tour.

Together me and my dad have been all around Japan over 8 times, and we both agreed that this was by far the best tour we’ve had. Andy has a deep well of knowledge about sake production that stems from his own experience working at a brewery, and throughout the tour one can thorougly feel the care and expertise he has about this topic. Together with his expertise of sake he also provides a unique perspective on Japanese history, and it's development since the edo period. All in all a great experience, with a charismatic tour guide that actually has the background to support the information he gives. Would recommend to anyone visiting Kobe and interested in learning about the rich culture and history of sake. 10/10
