My wife and I visited a Sake Brewery and the Ropeway and herb garden in Kobe. Both atractions were excellent. We were shown around by Mizu our guide who was brillant; very professional and informative and a great character. We highly recommend Mizu and the attractions, not to be missed.

Unfortunately, this tour fell well below expectations. The guide demonstrated a low level of preparation and professionalism, offering minimal meaningful information about Kobe. We were taken primarily to tourist traps, with little effort to provide a genuine or insightful experience. It felt more like a generic itinerary than a guided tour.

" This is exactly how the guide had planned the tour for you. We understand that you were disappointed that the garden was not what you had envisioned, but this is not the fault of the guide. Yama was an excellent guide. He was friendly and knowledgeable. He took his time explaining everything to us, and paced the tour on our needs. He met us at our hotel and showed us where the shuttle stop was in Kobe at the end of the tour so we could return to our hotel. I would highly recommend Yama. You will enjoy your tour with him.

Yama is a patient and knowledgeable guide who is proud of his native Kobe and engages easily with customers. Travelling on the train and subway system was made so easy by Yama and the cost of rail transport is very reasonable. To top it all off, Yama gave the ladies in the tour beautiful little silk bags that his wife had made. Very Japanese and very thoughtful. you will not regret using Yama as a guide in Kobe.

We spent 4 hours in Kobe ofc the ship with Yama going to Saki factory (the lemon Saki is delicious). Rode train, walked 4 miles, favorite was Shinto temple! He is most charming. Lovable guide.. so happy we had him❤️

Yama-san was a humorous, knowledgeable and absolutely wonderful guide. Our tour exceeded by an hour but he was still very gracious and generous with his time. We got a very good understanding of Kobe city during the 5 hours we had with him and would certainly hope to have another tour with him again.

Harumi was a great guide! She took us up the cable cars on Mt Rokko to the Herb Gardens which were beautiful with the fall foliage. We then went to the Ibuka Shrine and she explained the procedures and what each gate stood for. Finally we went to China Town for lunch and Harumi also walked us through the market arcade helping us find good stores. She was very knowledgeable, personable, and easy to understand. She even taught us oragimi!

After having good ramen at an authentic ramen shop, we visited Kobe Nunobiki Herb Garden.
It was a fine autumn day and we had a lot of fun.

We had the pleasure of having Norio Oki as our private guide during our stay in Kobe. Norio was excellent. He greeted us with a big smile as we entered the disembarkation hall. He was very thorough in explaining the day’s program and through out the sites we visited. We were impressed with his depth of knowledge. He customized our tour to suit our interests. Although our arrangements were for 4 hours, he gladly extended the tour time to 6 hours to ensure we had the chance to explore the sites thoroughly. He did this without any charge.
Norio is truly a gentleman and we would highly recommend him to anyone visiting Kobe.

We visited Akashi Kaikyo Bridge, Hakutsuru Sake Brewery Museum and Kobe Nunobiki Herb Garden.
These places are located in a wide area, so it took a bit longer.
But it was a comfortable autumn day and we enjoyed this tour a lot.

I had a wonderful time riding the ropeway to the top of the Mt. and walking through the garden. They had a fragrance room where you could sample so many different scents . After that we walked through the Kitano-ljikan district and visited the Weathercock and Moegi Houses homes of foreign merchants and diplomats. Our last stop was the Ikuta Shrine. Yama taught me the steps of the ritual of prayer at the temple and how one can pray for and show thankfulness for blessings I had a wonderful day and thank Yama for being an excellent guide and teaching me some of Japanese culture and history.

Our guide Yama was excellent. Very knowledgeable on the sites and tells funny stories on some places. Highly recommend him if visiting Kobe. Even found us a restaurant to try some Kobe beef. It was incredible! There was lots of walking, but nothing too bad.

Overall the tour was good. Could it have been better, the answer is yes. Our tour guide Norio, was prompt and kind and took us to see everything. He barely spoke English so he was difficult to understand at times. Also, he got lost in one of the subways. Not a big deal, it was more embarrassing for him more than anything.
Also, it appeared that he was required to take numerous photos of us on his phone to show the tour company that he was actually working. NOTE to tour companies, please trust your tour guides because it’s annoying to stop and take these “pictures.”

That day, we couldn't see a clear view of Kobe city from Nunobiki Herb Garden due to heavy fog.
However, the flowers in the Herb Garden and Sorakuen Garden were so beautiful, we took a lot of pictures.

Yama was an excellent guide with very good English and extremely knowledgeable about the places we visited. The tour was customized based on a combination of our wishes along with his recommendations.
He was very patient with us in our advance communications as to where and when to meet at the cruise ship terminal. He was, in fact, early as were we. If we had to make a suggestion to other people, consider extending the tour as there is much to see in this city. As an added touch, Yama took numerous photos of my wife and I and then forwarded them to us within 15 minutes of our tour ending. If you can ask for him by name you will not be disappointed.

Taxi or Train from the port to tourist spots vs waling is a must. The Herb Garden is excellent. Its actually a Cable Car (similar to a ski lift) not a “ropeway”.

We had a great experience with Mizuho. She reached out to us before the trip, we developed the list of places to visit together. She picked us up at the port terminal, we took the trains to the Hakutsuru Sake Brewery Museum, Ikuta Shrine , and Chinatown. She was well prepared. We enjoyed her detailed presentation when we visited the places. On top of that, she made the reservation for us to have the Kobe beef after our tour. The steaks were so delicious, just melted in our mouths. It’s a great tour!

Mr Yama met us at the high speed train 30 minutes early which was very nice of him. Very good communication via email before the day of the tour. Mr. does walk fast, however, he is very efficient at what he does. Would highly recommend Mr Yama as a tour guide.

Our kind and patient tour guide was Hiromi.
She helped us navigate the buses and trains effectively and efficiently. The sites were chosen by our family as well as some recommendations by our guide. We took the Ropeway to the herb garden. It's a nice stable and smooth ride with great views of the city below. She recommended a nice restaurant at our last stop where we enjoyed a nice Kobe steak meal. Thank you, Hiro! What a great finish to a wonderful day!!

Mr. Yama was our tour guide for this trip. He was very knowledgeable about Kobe and Japan. We visited some temples and homes that were beautiful. Mr. Yama was very spry for a 77 year old man. I am 76 and it was a challenge to keep up with him. At the top of the stairs, he would always be waiting for us. We had a good time seeing Kobe and if anyone wants an excellent guide, I would want Mr. Yama. Always funny, polite and ready to explore. Thanks Viator for such an excellent guide. It was really peaceful for us to be able to see the cherry blossoms in full bloom among the fresh greenery. Although Shukugawa is not a major tourist destination, I think it is the best secret spot for cherry blossoms. And it is also loved by foreigners live in Kansai district.

HIRO was an excellent guide! He helped us through the use of the tram and train transportation to Himeji from Kobe. His expertise in explaining the Himeji castle and the surrounding grounds was amazing. He also helped us find the perfect spot for a Japanese lunch! Finally, the tea service at the tea house was indeed special! We were very grateful for his patience and wealth of information.

Hero showed us Kobe finding out what we wanted and taking us there using taxis and public transport. She chowed us the shines and temples in Kobe and made the history and culture interesting. You would not be disappointed taking a tour with her.

They canceled the tour the day before saying they could not find a guide after they charged my credit card and suggested a refund would be the way to proceed but never responded to my follow up emails
