Aidan was a wonderful instructor! He was knowledgeable and patient and while we didn’t catch anything, he did and he prepped it and let us take it home for dinner! 10/10 would recommend for a fun, beginner lesson. We are hooked and can’t wait to go again!

Christian was very accommodating when I learned I accidentally double-booked my wife and I the day before our scheduled outing. He got right back to me (unlike the other company) and got us rescheduled. The current and tides were very strong on our rescheduled day, and Aidden offered to take us out a second day. The communication and personability of both of them was exceptional. Would 100% book again if I find myself on the island. Huge thanks to both of them for giving us an awesome experience!

10/10 experience! Aidden is a great teacher and made it into an easy and fun adventure. I speared a fish and my boyfriend got a needlefish. My favorite part was admiring the sea turtles. An unforgettable experience!

This is a really fun and unique experience unlike anything else we’d done on the island in our couple of trips to Kauai. If you catch a fish you’ll be stoked all day, and if you don’t then at least you’ll get some top-tier snorkeling in! We didn’t catch anything, but we did see sea turtle, octopus, eel, and puffer fish while out there. Tons of catchable fish (remember to get your license), a great experience in a beautiful setting, and I love that it was something other than the same old stuff we’d done in the past - really a unique and worthwhile experience. Aiden was our guide and he was really helpful and chill, good teacher.

We loved this traditional snd authentic activity hosted by Aidden, who patiently taught our group of 3 how to spear fish on a stunning Hawaiian beach. We were taught about the different fish and how to catch them. As you can imagine, this is much more tricky than you would think! However it’s totally immersive - so much so that a sea turtle above me totally took me by surprise. Fortunately it wasn’t a shark!

Aidden was an excellent instructor and guide. He knows the ocean! Really glad we did this...learned a lot. I would recommend this to friends and family easily. But, be a decent swimmer and try to test any gear you bring before hand. Also, it does take some strength and endurance. We didn't catch any sizable fish, but the education and experience was totally worth it.

Our guide, Aidden, is sweet and patient and just adorable. While the three of us did not catch any fish, it was an experience will never forget. And we did get to take home and eat the fish Aidden caught!

Met our guide at the simple to follow designated spot in Anini Beach. Our guide Aidden was friendly, approachable and very knowledgeable. Spent time getting instructions and pertinent information. Demonstration of the sling and go around for our group then geared up and headed out.
You should be comfortable in the water with snorkel gear and expect some current resistance.
Once out to our first spot off we went. My Son and I got a fish! I was not expecting to and going in Aidden was clear that he did not catch anything until his 5th time out. Be realistic with your expectations. It is not as easy as it looks but great fun in trying. Once back, Aidden cleaned our fish and we prepared them that night. Great meal.
We will book again next year.

We had an awesome time with Aidan as our guide. He was clearly very experienced as he told us he would go in and catch a fish to demonstrate to us how it was done. Low and behold he caught a fish within 30 seconds of arriving at the fishing spot. Great dude and very helpful.
Our experience was pretty awesome. We went out for a couple hours, saw amazing fish and turtles, and even caught a few fish. Aidan was cool enough to gut and process the fish. Some people in our tour did not catch fish, ultimately I think if you go out there with the mentality that you’ll catch one and aren’t afraid to take shots then you’ll get one. Just make sure it’s bigger than your Shaka.
Would absolutely recommend for any adventurous group.

Aidden was a very kind and knowledgeable instructor. My husband and I had a wonderful time learning how to spear fish. We got to take our catch home and fry it up, and it was delicious! Highly recommend!

Great experience. The reef is a good distance out. Watch tor tide timings. Low tide makes it a bit harder to head out and back without getting scraped up.

Amazing Day! I was afraid that we’d be in deep water but the deepest was about 5 feet. I saw so many fish and others saw plenty of turtles. We didn’t catch dinner as it was just a day after the rains but it was still worthwhile. If you have any doubt - just do it!

Unique experience and a lot of fun if you are comfortable snorkeling. Our guide Aidden was extremely knowledgeable and helped us to get familiar with the equipment and how to fish. Highly recommend!!

Bought for my husband. Cool learning experience but a little too physically demanding. Instructor was set on taking them about 3 football lengths out in the reef (they had to swim out from the shore before even trying to fish).

We really appreciate the feedback and will do our best to make the appropriate improvements.
As mentioned in the "Guest Requirements" section of our listing, ALL guests MUST be proficient in swimming and snorkeling to participate in this experience.
The reason being is we do guide you far out on the reef to spots that no tourist would dare to venture by themselves, not to mention the fish are much better on the outer reef.
With that being said i did talk to my instructor about this experience and he sincerely apologizes for making your husband feel like he was "not present" during the lesson. Since it was only your husband on tour he wanted to give some freedom to him to hunt in the water without over babysitting him. We thank your husband for his personal feedback to Aidden as well.
He will be sure to put his best foot forward in being present and available on every experience moving forward regardless of how small the group is.

This was probably my favorite activity I did during my entire trip in Hawaii and that even includes comparing it to skydiving! I got lucky and managed to see and swim near a few turtles and even saw some large eels! Aidden was great. He was very knowledgeable and helpful. My only warning is that it can require a lot of strength and stamina in your dominant arm because the spear is essentially a slingshot so holding it under tension one-armed while waiting for the fish to get in the line of fire will wear you out.

Was a true island experience ! Aiden made the time in the water very excellerating showing us all the reef , fishing with us and letting us know how to cook the fish we had taken home. This is a must do everytime your on the island swimming with turtles and huge fish!

Fantastic experience! "Snorkeling with a purpose" as our guide put it! If you can snorkel you can spear fish in this very beginner friendly spearfishing course! One of the most authentic excursions I've done.

You should use sunscreen and protective clothes for this tour. Some ability to swim is needed. Being familiar with snorkeling is a must.

If you’ve never spear fished this was an awesome experience. You get to see a lot of cool reef life and get to fish. Takes an hour or so and a fair amount of trial and error to get used to the process but was not hard to figure out. Guide we had was great although you will be quite spread out if you are with a group (50-100 yds) so just keep that in mind. Would recommend getting used to snorkeling a bit first before trying this out as well if you have never done much of that.

So much fun, not only spear fishing but snorkeling and seeing coral, see cucumbers, turtles, and all kinds of fish. The instructor Aiden was fantastic! He taught us about the different fish species and showed us how to do spearfishing.

This was an incredible experience made even more incredible by our guide, Tui. We were able to get into some awesome fish and were very supported by our guide. He even went out of his was to look after my wife, who was nervous as this was her first snorkeling experience and made her feel very comfortable in the water. I highly recommend this experience to anyone of any skill level, and if you are able- book a trip with Tui! It was great.
