Wow — just wow! This 10-waterfall hike was absolutely breathtaking. Pablo, my tour guide, was incredible! He was so knowledgeable about the rainforest and shared tons of insight about the wildlife we encountered, including frogs, spiders, centipedes, birds, ants, and various plants throughout the trail.
I definitely recommend wearing water shoes with strong traction — the rocks can get very slippery. And yes, you’ll want to be in at least moderate shape to complete the hike, but don’t worry — Pablo is extremely patient, encouraging, and will go at your pace. Plus, he’s an amazing photographer! He captured some unforgettable moments along the way.
The 10th waterfall? A complete dream — words don’t do it justice. You truly have to experience it to believe it. To top it off, the fresh fruit at the end of the hike was the perfect refreshing treat, and the lunch was phenomenal. I can’t recommend this adventure enough — it’s an experience you’ll never forget!

Absolutely incredible! My guide Pablo was amazing and so informative. So many places to swim along the way and the food was so delicious!

Awesome adventure! A bit challenging to navigate in some places. Our guides Pablo and Jefferson were outstanding making sure all were able to complete the hike safely.
Lunch was excellent!

Words cannot describe how amazing! Beautiful wild life, plants, and of course the water falls. Guides were extremely knowledgeable and made us feel safe during the hike and in the waterfalls. Food and waters were provided. Highly recommend

Professional staff. Excellent guide who knew his stuff and explained the nature, wildlife, and area to us while we were on this wonderful adventure. Safety was always first on the guide’s mind. Surprised us with an organic fruit plate to snack on while we took a break. The local lunch we ate afterwards was great. It was very clean eating. Chicken fajitas rice beans and an excellent drink choice.

What an amazing experience! The hike wasn’t easy but we got to swim in the most beautiful waterfalls. The food was an added bonus. I 100% recommend this tour!

Unfortunately for me the hike was more than I could handle. I didn’t expect it to be at such a high level. The guide was so kind and supportive and he took me back down to wait for him and the other hikers.

I really enjoyed the waterfalls, except I was scared most of the time. I don’t think this should be called a “hike.” Well, 75% is hiking, some on narrow trails without handrails. The other 25% is spent climbing slippery rocks on the edge of waterfalls. The waterfalls are quite pretty, but hard to appreciate as I trembled on the edge. Perhaps, I should have done more research before booking this. We live in Colorado and are experienced hikers, so maybe I was overconfident.
I asked the guide how many people have died on the trail. He said none, which is really a surprise. I kept imagining having to use our travel insurance to get a helicopter after I slipped and hit my head on a rock. I’m not really exaggerating. That said, our teenagers had a blast. They were expecting a boring hike (ugh, mom), but instead got to pull themselves up waterfalls with ropes while watching their mother have a panic attack.
The provided lunch were good, if a bit garlicky. Bring mints.
The guide was great. He always came back to help me when I thought I could go no further.
The first mile of the so-called home is along a riverbed, which was quite peaceful. It belied the next mile, most of which I spent thankful that I’d recently updated my will.

Please wear good shoes! This is a four mile hike and it is a workout. The guides and waterfalls were amazing!
Liz_G, Dec 2025
It's a difficult hike but the guide was very attentive and helpful. Bring your hiking shoes or water shoes with good tread. The swim in the waterfall pools felt purifying! Pura Vida!
LeeAnn_C, Dec 2025
Fantastic experience, but be warned, this is not a light hike! Be prepared for a true climb next to the waterfalls, scaling rocks, significant walking through water and two mandatory swims to cross the path. Towels were not needed, so don’t bother with the pack!
Jefferson was a truly amazing guide and the lunch was local cuisine and excellent. Highly recommend, but true hiking shoes and ability to climb are essential!

This tour was absolutely amazing! Pablo was a very attentive and caring guide. He knew so much about the wild plants and animals that we didn't expect to learn on this tour. We were fortunate enough to have a private tour, which I don't think is everyone's experience. Communication before the tour was very clear and prompt. On the tour, I didn't anticipate the high activity level, which was good for my husband and I but could be intimidating for people who aren't regular hikers. The hike was 4 miles round trip and very steep in parts. We even did some light bouldering to get up the hills. Pablo was close and helpful all the while. He took several photos with our cameras for no extra charge. This was a rare and beautiful experience and I Highly recommend!

Pablo was a wonderful guide. Kind and careful. I was the only one on the trip, so I had all the pools to myself. I enjoyed the hike and the activities. The meal at the soda at the end of the day was delicious. But for some reason, I thought it was going to be a meal on a "farm."
It was a lovely day, but I'm not sure if I would add it to a "must-do" list. The guide was great, and the food was really good.

The waterfall tour is incredible. Pablo, our guide, was blast to hike with and has a great sense of humor. He has in-depth knowledge of plants and trees and can talk about the history of the area also. It is a moderately stressful hike but so much fun. I will do it again when I come.
Tristan_B, Sep 2025
Pablo was our guide. He was absolutely fantastic! It was a private tour and he gave us lots of information about the area, plants, and animals that we encountered. He even acted as a photographer for us! The waterfalls were nothing short of beautiful and each one was more amazing than the last. I would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone and if you get the chance, ask for Pablo!

Make sure you have very good waterproof sneakers because you will cross streams & rivers with lots of rocks and you need to grip the rocks when you are climbing. Bring a waterproof bag for any valuables because there are times when you will get wet in order to cross. Request Pablo as your guide because he is kind & he took time to ensure our safety. This was the absolute best excursion in Costa Rica (We also did zip lining, sailboat, and Manuel Antonio park). We would 100% recommend!! The views were incredible!!

Pablo was really truly fantastic. So kind, friendly and fun. The joke was absolutely worth it. The water falls were amazing and swimming and jumping off the rocks was awesome. Do not wear flip flops. It’s a long trek mostly on the way back. Overall it was 100% worth it and got some great pictures!
Sam_E, Aug 2025
Pablo was a great guide, friendly and helpful and shared good local knowledge of plants and critters.

What a great adventure. Our guides Pablo and Johan were amazing. We loved swimming in the gorgeous waterfall pools and the teenagers loved the cliff jumping. Just the perfect amount of adventure in a gorgeous location with knowledgeable guides. Everyone said they loved it.
Leea_B, Jul 2025
This entire experience exceeded our expectations. Pablo and his team were so helpful and knowledgeable and we loved talking with him about the area! This hike overall is moderate with some difficult moments but most people will be fine. The lunch after the hike was also beyond our expectation. The people were so kind and the food was delicious! This hike was one of our overall favorite things we did in Costa Rica!

Pablo was amazing and treated our family to wonderful trip through Las Monas. He was knowledgeable about the local flora and fuana. The water was so refreshing and the casada lunch was the best we had in our trip. I highly recommend the trip. The hike is not too hard. Pablo was patient with our 10 and 13 year old, making sure they were safe throughout the journey. This was the perfect adventure!
Christie_A, Jul 2025
This was hands-down one of the best tours we did in Costa Rica. Pablo is an amazing guide – knowledgeable, passionate, and incredibly friendly. He took us to 10 hidden waterfalls, each more beautiful than the last, with zero crowds and breathtaking scenery.
Teri_B, Jul 2025
We had the best time with Pablo on this epic waterfall hike!!! We had 3 adults and 2 kids (9 & 11). Pablo is very knowledgeable and made us all feel totally safe!!
The hike is 4 miles total and moderate at times.
Note your shoes will get wet! The adults wore tennis shoes and the kids wore crocs but you definitely need good shoes not flip flops.
This was a highlight for our trip!!
100% recommend!!
Laura_C, Jul 2025
I highly recommend this tour! Pablo brought my husband and I out on the tour. We went in July during the shoulder season, so the area was not crowded at all. It was a lovely overcast day, which kept the temperature very reasonable. We certainly still sweat plenty! The waterfalls are beautiful and Pablo was a great tour guide who helped to keep us safe.
Please make sure to bring appropriate shoes. You will be going in and out of rivers and waterfalls the whole time. Some areas are very slick so you want shoes with good grip. We showed Pablo both our keens, te as, and hiking boots. He said hiking boots, and he was right!
The waterfalls are beautiful and Pablo was a great tour guide who helped to keep us safe. Please make sure to bring appropriate shoes. You were going in and out of Rivers and waterfalls the whole time. We showed Pablo both our Teva‘s, Keens, and hiking boots and he recommended the hiking boots. Definitely the right choice!
I recommend being a moderate to good shape to do this hike. It’s about 4 miles round-trip with a decent amount of it going uphill. Just remember, waterfalls need height!
We met for the tour in downtown Jaco. We had to drive in and were worried about parking, but there was plenty of parking on the street. Just make sure not to park in the yellow zones. It ended up being no problem at all.
The lunch afterwards was lovely. The whole thing was very well organized and I highly recommend this tour. It will be a highlight of your trip!

Pablo was an amazing guide. He was very patient, and he made every step seem easy even when I was freaking out a little on the inside. I think you do need to have at least some level of fitness to participate, and if you never do anything active this might be difficult. The views were stunning. Costa Rica is beautiful, and her beauty is on full display on this hike.

Pablo was an amazing guide and a genuinely nice person. The trip was truly an adventure and you are at one with nature! You must ask for Pablo! He was patient and happy to take pictures to restore our memories.

This was amazing! What a fun and challenging trek. Be prepared to get wet as you spend half of your time literally tromping through the river water. Not for the faint of heart. Spectacular!
Demi_S, Apr 2025
Definitely challenging, absolutely worth it. The guides were very knowledgeable and made the experience safe and enjoyable. I’m thankful I heeded the warnings of the difficulty of the hike, what shoes to wear, and to be in good shape/ not hungover. 🤣 Pablo and his crew were great, kept us safe, and empowered us to make it through. I would absolutely do this again and would want Pablo to lead us through. Blessings and pura vida

Great hike. Loved climbing the waterfalls and swimming in them. Our guides were wonderful and gave us lots of time to enjoy the experience. Lunch provided was very tasty.
cheryl_k, Apr 2025
I would highly recommend Sabastian and Samuel as guides! Some of the climbs can be tricky and they both ensured we knew exactly where to step and helped lend a hand when needed. They were always watching our steps. They were friendly and engaging, making the experience even more enjoyable. We had three excursions while in Jaco and this was a favorite! Our guide's Pura Vita attitude was awesome!
