This was such a fun experience! When I read the reviews and heard about “Crazy Alex” i was intrigued. Hoping we would get him and get to see what all the hype was about. He delivered and made the experience 10/10. He knows so many different calls and sounds of the animals and he was able to call in the monkeys, birds, and was able to make the little water bugs jump. So fun and knowledgeable and amazing vibes. Definitely book this experience!

Pros:
First of all, Crazy Alex was awesome and we really enjoyed the tour! We got an up close and personal experience with a white faced monkey and saw several species of birds and lizards, bats and even an alligator. To top it off, we saw an anteater far away in a tree and a mother and baby sloth. The guides all obviously get along and share the sightings with each other and they keep the tour fun and interesting. We brought binoculars and there were parts of the mangrove where you could see through the trees to more monkeys, birds and other animals. Would absolutely do the trip again.
Cons:
Yes, may be obvious, but plan ahead bc it’s pretty rustic. We went in early April and it was HOT! My son ran out of his water halfway though the boat ride. When we landed back at the exit, there was a water station and some fruit, but when my son tried to access the water (with his red cheeks), the other tour company put up a chain to block him and pretty aggressively told me we couldn’t have any since we weren’t with their company. I truly had no idea there was any separation for the groups as they all sort of share a pavilion area, so I was pretty taken aback at how rude he was (I can’t say I’ve encountered many rude Ticos before this). When I asked Alex if they had any water available, he brushed me off and said sorry the water guy was not around. Luckily, there was a little bodega with icy drinks a few kilometers up the road, but that unfortunately ended the tour on a salty note. Also, if you have any germphobes in your group, bring some wet wipes or sanitizer since the monkeys can get pretty friendly <3

The tour was reallly fun, Crazy Alex is quite a character. He was having the monkeys eating out of his hand and on everyone in the boats as well! It was quite entertaining. Only issue is that the van had some sort of trouble and was running half an hour late, and there was no communication so we were not sure if they were even showing up but they did eventually.

We had a fabulous time at this activity. It started in Jaco where we were picked up promptly and then an hours drive to the venue. There was only a few minutes to wait prior to getting on a boat - again there were spare seats so we were able to switch sides. Look at for caymens lurking! We spotted sloths and had monkeys in the boat - they’re super tame! I liked that it wasn’t rushed and every time another animal was spotted, we stopped and our guide ensured everyone had enough pics. Would definitely recommend this activity 5⭐️

This was an amazing experience. We had Crazy Alex for our guide and he was fantastic, a true animal whisperer. He called the monkeys onto the boat and pointed out many other animals, plants and flowers. He even located a sloth! This is a must do if you are in the area.

This was a fun and well organized half day trip. Our transportation to and from had a friendly driver who was punctual and helpful throughout. The tour guide found numerous monkeys along with other local wildlife. My favorite part was the monkeys actually interacting with the boat and passengers.

This was an awesome experience, from our awesome transport driver Benny, to our boat Guide "Crazy Alex". We saw lots of beautiful scenery, animals, and fish. The monkeys were very cute and comfortable with people. Me and my wife got a kiss from the monkeys! We also spotted a sloth way up in the trees. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to see the white face monkeys. I would also recommend you request Alex as your Guide, I think he really made the experience special!

Get Crazy Alex he is a great guide. Very friendly and knowledgeable. We saw slot of different birds. Lizards, and a snake. The monkeys came on the boat and sat on everyone's head and we're great.

One in a lifetime experience. ALEX was great! Would recommend to any family with kids. Very professional and knowledgable. We saw snakes, monkeys, crocodiles and lots of birds.

Crazy Alex was really entertaining. Seeing the monkeys was the highlight. We did see a lot of lizards, birds, and a small boa constrictor. We didn’t see a sloth on our trip. Our driver to the location was friendly and accommodating. All in all it was worth it to experience the monkeys up close.

We had a fun time on this tour! Our guide was "crazy Alex" and he made the trip a really fun time. We were able to interact with the monkeys and saw lots of different wildlife including a baby crocodile and some bats. Definitely recommend this tour.

Ride to Isla Dama passing the rice fields and African palm ranches was interesting.
We fro felt very safe with th driver. Alex our boat tour guide was fascinating, with his ability to call birds and monkeys.

You wanna get personal with some monkeys? Then this tour is for you! Our guide was awesome. Famous crazy Alex. The mangrove environment was amazing as well. Thank you Odyssey tours for taking care of us. Our driver took us to a place to eat at our request.

Tour guide was so knowledgeable about all of different wildlife we saw. Loved learning about it all. We saw all kinds of animals; sloth, anteater, Jesus Christ lizards, vultures, white face capuchin monkeys, raccoons, turtle, snake, and more! Would definitely recommend this tour.

Not worth it…. We were hoping that we got Alex but we didn’t. I forget the guides name who we got. We only saw a couple of monkeys because a woman on a separate tour was feeding them bananas. Had her tour not been there we wouldn’t have seen any. This was our only disappointing tour in Costa Rica.

Definitely worth the money! Our guide, Jonny, was very knowledgeable and very helpful. We saw monkeys, two toed sloths and many other animals. We enjoyed learning about the history of the mangroves too!

Wonderful experience experiencing the flora and fauna. We were introduced to agricultural practices and working animals and the mangrove river experience. The monkeys were awesome! Our guide was articulate in the English language and very knowledgeable! A definite must do experience. I think the evening tours see more wildlife
