Itinerary

Meet your guide at your Istanbul hotel or port, and get an early start for a drive along the European shore of the Marmara Sea. Take in views of elegant summer villas and Gallipoli, then board a ferry across the Dardanelles to the Troy archeological site, which Homer brought to vivid life in the ‘Iliad.’ Explore the remarkable ancient city with your guide, from the city walls, to Athena’s temple and the Odeon, a beautifully preserved stone theater. Climb inside a reconstructed Trojan horse to relive the famous, strategic end to the Trojan war.

Return to the European side of the Dardanelles to visit Gallipoli’s most iconic battlefields and moving cemeteries. Learn about the fierce fighting between Ottoman and ANZAC troops, then hear why some called the clash a ‘Gentleman’s War.’ Hear memories of the First World War from a local’s perspective, then pay your respects to the soldiers who fought and died along the Dardanelles. Worth the drive

If you are a history and/or mythology buff you shouldn't miss these sites if in Turkey. Remember Troy is a bronze age ruin so temper any expectations of grand palaces. However the site doesn't disappoint on views of the plain and the Agean beyond, where the seize took place according to Homer. Bring tip money for 2, we had both a driver and a guide. Guide was very nice, his English was average as was his knowledge base. Entry fee to the ruins was not included. No big deal as it's cheap, but it would have been a nice gesture given the cost of the trip. I do recommend the day.

It was amazing to get to know a little bit of the history of the Great War and the brave soldiers on both sides of the World war 1. I was particularly impressed with the specialist knowledge our tour guide Ali shared with us. Ali's knowledge of the war, the history of the battles and the political environment of the time is exceptional. We were also spoilt with a define lunch on our way to Troy, which was unique to the Southern regions of Turkey

What a great tour!! Private vehicle, private guide, absolutely beautiful countryside the day was a pleasure from start to end. Spent time at both Gallipoli and troy, we were the only people at Gallipoli other than the Gardner. Cenk Guide was attentive, personable and knowledgeable, I highly recommend this tour.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Gallipoli and Troy. We had the company of a guide and a driver in a very comfortable BMW. The trip was considerately done at every point and we found the historical site of Troy fascinating and the visit to Galllipoli moving. Although it is a long day... we did not get back till 8pm...it was very worthwhile and we'd really commend it to anyone who has only a short time to see a lot! Thanks to Travelium, Sevinc Kalik our guide and the driver whose name I've forgotten.
