Itinerary
Kick off your small-group tour by meeting your guide and air-conditioned coach transport either at your hotel or near Topkapi Palace. Then, hop aboard for a voyage south along Turkey’s European edge to the Gallipoli peninsula. Take a break for breakfast (own expense) and loosen your legs in the small city of Tekirdağ.
Shortly thereafter, arrive in Gallipoli and begin your excursion to the famous World War I sites. Listen as you guide explains how Australian and New Zealand forces invaded the shores of Gallipoli in 1915 with the goal of sacking Istanbul, then the Ottoman capital Constantinople. Their hopes were immediately crushed by Ottoman Turk soldiers who battled the Aussies and Kiwis for more than six months to a standstill. Learn about the thousands who perished from both sides on these battlegrounds which now serve as a place of remembrance.
Hop off your coach at ANZAC Cove and hear about the first day Australian and New Zealand forces landed at the cove. Wander through symbolic battlegrounds and stroll the beautiful headlands. Then, visit Australia’s primary memorial location, Lone Pine which was named for a single pine tree that lived here. See the names of 5,000 soldiers who rest here after dying in battle.
Next, explore the Nek’s war torn trenches and listen to stories of soldiers who attacked from hiding places within nearby forests. Continue to Chunuk Bair and hear how the Allies bravely captured this site but were unable to defend it. Also, stop and observe the memorials of courageous New Zealanders who fought till the end.
Savod lunch at a restaurant in the nearby town and then cruise to more serene memorial sites close to Gallipoli. Stop at Burnu Cemetery to honor the 252 servicemen who lay rest here. Then, enjoy passing by Johnson’s Jolly trenches, the Beach Cemetery and Brighton Beach before heading back to Istanbul. Along the ride back to your starting point reminisce as you see evening views of Turkey.

Visiting Gallipoli and learning first hand about the battles and the conditions faced by both the ANZACS and the Turks was Avery memorable and moving experience.
Our guide, Burak was very well informed and often challenged our assumed knowledge of events. He was keen to share his perspective which was always supported by various photos and letters written by the commanding forces at the time.

We are incredibly proud of our guide, Burak. It's wonderful that his extensive knowledge, passion for sharing historical perspectives, and use of supporting materials like photos and letters enhanced your tour and challenged your assumed knowledge.
We appreciate you choosing Fez Travel for this significant historical journey.

Our guide was wonderful with plenty of Knowledge. Day was a bit long but that has to be expected with the distance from Istanbul

Very well organised and informative experience. Professional and helpful staff from pick up to drop off. I would recommend this company for visiting Gallipoli. I certainly learnt a lot of information that I was unaware of about the campaign from the perspective of both Turkish and ANZAC. Thank you to the company for making it a very memorable experience.

Our guide Ercan Yavuz was absolutely excellent. His knowledge was encyclopedic so that he packed a lot of information into a few hours. Yet his account was coherent - a full tour could take 5 days. The tour company Crowded House's service was very organised.

Well informed guide. If it wasn't so far from Australia it would be the ideal place to bring every young Australian.
Paul_B, May 2023
One of the best tour guides iv ever had, can't remember his name. The younger guy with tattoos. He Was really funny and knowledgeable and serious at the same time
Natasha_M, Oct 2022
The guide was extremely knowledgeable and friendly, as well as humorous. It's a long day, but gives a thorough insight into the Gallipoli campaign.
wstammer, Jul 2022
The drive down the European coast of Turkey and seeing the building, agriculture, and the topography of the battle field. The high light was the guide taking two young women to see the grave of their grandfather.
The hard part was the tour was much longer than advertised. We were picked up at 6:00 AM and not dropped off until 11:30 that night.

I was promptly picked up at my hotel in a luxury bus, and taken to all the memorable sites in Gallipoli. My guide who was fluent in English gave me all the information, and was very detailed in his knowledge of the area, it's history, and the significance of it. An unforgettable experience.
Luminita_M, Oct 2020
The tour guide was very knowledgeable and very pleasant. The trip is great for people interested in history. Both me and my husband enjoyed it very much. I recommend it to people wanting to see something different than the regular tourist spots.

Absolutely fabulous tour from start to finish. I hadn’t realised how beautiful the peninsular is. The guide was amazing and I have no words for how good our driver from a Istanbul was
Mark_G, Jul 2020
Very knowledgeable Tour Guide and Amazing scenery. Staff took Covid 19 precautions with Masks, Social Distancing and Hand sanitizing.
Cameron_O, Mar 2020
We had a fantastic tour with our guide Alp. He was very knowledgeable about the different sites and cemeteries around the peninsula. Would recommend. Thank you very much for a memorable tour.

Excellent guide with great knowledge. Good food for lunch. Well organised journey overall and well worth visiting. Just be aware it's a long way from Istanbul.

We had a great day at Gallipoli. Guide was on time at our hotel and transport was fantastic. It’s a long day trip from Istanbul and our 10year old did pretty well. Our guide was very knowledgeable and keen to share. Thank you

As Australians, my wife and I had always wanted to visit Gallipoli and it did not disappoint. All the sites were amazing and John (our guide) was informative, helpful and all round nice guy. The day is definitely long (4.5 hour drive one way from Istanbul) but we never felt rushed whilst we were in Gallipoli and had ample time to ponder and wander around taking photos. Highly recommend!
Nicole_P, Oct 2019
Burak was a fabulous and knowledgeable guide with a great sense of humour, especially of Australian and New Zealand slang/ phrases. He gave a very thorough run through of Gallipoli and world war 1 with a specific focus on the ANZACs and clarified many details around the landing that I was not aware of.
The Gallipoli tour itself was great. It would have been helpful if the driver that picked us up from Istanbul had given us an update on how the day would run as this was not mentioned until we got to the local town.
Otherwise, highly recommend!

Our guide was knowledgeable, on time and courteous. Going out of peak period allowed us to be the only people at Anzac Cove. Lunch was included and was good. Only 8 people on the bus of which we were a group of 4

Whilst we are pleased we did this trip and really enjoyed the incredible settings; although very somber, which was to be expected, our trip was let down due to our guide. He was a very nice person but his command of English significantly compromised our understanding. Fortunately everywhere there is excellent signage in Turkish and English. Without this we would have struggled. We also have a good knowledge of the Gallipoli story anyway.
This is not a cheap day trip and we felt very let down regarding our guide.
Gary T, Aug 2019
The trip was well organised, good driver and visited many sites. It is a long day but worth the effort. The issue that we had was with the guide. Although well intentioned and enthusiastic his English was not satisfactory for an English speaking tour. He seemed to have remembered all the facts and figures and delivered them as if reading from a book in a poor style. Our attempts at asking questions were frustrated as he rarely gave an answer relevant to the question which highlighted his lack of English skills. The company needs to provide further english training to him before he takes another tour.

Tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and tour bus was comfortable. Would definitely recommend this day trip to Gallipoli.

This tour was excellent but we did it on 6 June (part of the national Eid holiday) and had I known what the traffic would do to the journey home I would not have done it. We were told we would be home at 10pm but in fact arrived home at 1.30am. The driver handled the situation extremely well but it was very poor that the tour organiser did not inform us of this issue beforehand as it would have materially impacted on our decision to do this tour (the trip home was advertised as 4 hours - it ended up taking 7.5 hours on a stuffy bus with a stopover at an average roadhouse). We were unimpressed with the lack of communication about the fact there would be such a huge delay.
The tour of the peninsula itself was fantastic. Our guide Burak was entertaining and incredibly knowledgeable.

My main purpose of this journey was to visit my great uncle’s grave at Lone Pine. It turned into a very important history lesson about the lead up to the conflict, the conflict itself and the aftermath. Our tour guide, Ikut was an encyclopaedia of historical knowledge. Well worth the long journey from Istanbul.
Charlene_W, Apr 2019
We were picked up on schedule by a great driver and friendly tour guide. After a couple more stops picking up other guests we were on our way. Our group was small and in a smaller bus/van which was nice - no huge tour buses here. Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable and we were able to see all of the sites as expected. Breakfast stop was really good, lunch not great. Would highly recommend this tour! Worth every minute spent on the bus!

It is a long drive from Istanbul, so a bit painful but site is well worth it. I went there on Christmas eve and got lucky since all the others from my bus went to Troy and I got a private tour. Guide was extremely good, knew all the details. 4/5 since 8+ hrs driving in one day, should have taken two day trip...

We had a fantastic day out visiting Gallipoli and the memorials to the terrible events of 1915. The tour guides were superb and gave us a full and accurate account of the events that took place and they did this in a moving and compassionate manner. They told the story from the Turkish perspective as well as the ANZAC one. Everyone on our party was from Australia or New Zealand apart from us.
I have two minor suggestion to make for improving this tour. Firstly we only visited the area where the ANZACS landed and fought. My grandfather landed with the British 29th division further down the coast and i was under the impression that we would visit that as well. When we were looking to book this trip it did not mention this and i think it should be made clearer to people exactly where they were going to visit. The coach trip takes 4 hours both ways and we knew it was going to be a long day. It would have been helpful if you were told this before we booked in the promotion of the tour.
Aver moving experience.

Thoroughly enjoyed this tour, a long day, but very informative. Be aware though that it quotes a guide Kick off your small-group tour by meeting your guide and air-conditioned coach transport either at your hotel or near Topkapi Palace. Then, hop aboard for a voyage south along Turkeys European edge to the Gallipoli peninsula. We did not actually get a guide until such time as we arrived in a town called Eceabat. Our driver didn't speak English and about half way stopped the bus and indicated we had a 30 minute break. We were all a bit confused as we drove for approximately 5 hours before actually meeting our guide. This needs to be advised at the time of booking. It would have been better if someone had informed us of this before leaving Istanbul. When we arrived at Eceabat we were taken to a restaurant where we had an adequate lunch before setting off for our tour. Can't fault the guide as he had maps and photos to show as well as giving detailed information of the areas we stopped. We spent about 5 hours touring the cemeteries and WW1 sites, something we have wanted to do for many years. At the end of the tour we transferred to a smaller vehicle for our return to Istanbul. Perhaps it would be an idea to have some audio on the bus to give you an insight into what to expect when you arrive. Otherwise a great experience.
Sofi, Dec 2017
Although it is a long drive from Istanbul the experience out weighed the long trip. Our guide was full of knowledge and we could not ask for anyone better. We learnt a lot of history about Gallipoli and got to see a lot of the sites with explanations of what occurred there. It is a trip that you will never forget.

A wonderful trip. A big day travelling but well worth the effort. The guides were very helpful. They picked us up in our little out of the way hotel and returned us there. Very important in a big confusing city. The guide at Gallipoli knew his stuff
