This was a wonderful glimpse into the art of Turkish carpet-making. Israfil took us to a historical building where merchants from either ends of the Silk Road once stayed and conducted their business. We got to see the different materials, and the weaving process used to create luxuriant and beautiful rugs. The gentlemen at the shop were also lovely and welcoming as they showed us a wonderful collection of rugs. Most importantly, we came away with a better understanding of the art, and the people who create it.

I’m incredibly thankful for the experience provided during this tour. İsrafil shared a wealth of knowledge about not only the art & history of handmade Turkish carpets, but also the country of Turkey itself.
The tour was meticulously organized! The tour location was very easy to find and within short walking distance to the Turkish carpet store. There was an abundance of carpets to choose from! Surprisingly there were far mor options than imagined; traditional, vintage, tribal and modern just to name a few.
At no point in my Turkish carpet shopping experience did is feel pressured to buy anything or stay longer than intended. The team at the Turkish carpet store were kind and courteous. After numerous viewings of carpet selections, I was able to narrow down to two beautiful unique choices and left the store feeling very excited about my purchase. I can’t wait to unveil these new pieces in my home, thank you İsrafil!

This experience lead by the guide israfil. He was courteous, respectful and willing to share his knowledge about carpets. He also gave the history of the carpet caravansi.
The staff there were amazing. I was able to see the silk being spun and in another area used for weaving. The carpets I was shown were so amazing in colour and design and information given about the style and region they come from.
The staff were cery professional towards me considering I was a small buyer and made sure they find something I could afford.
If you intend to buy a carpet/s in Istanbul this is the workshop to do. The business is supported and approved by the state.
Thank you all

Our experience with Israfil as our guide in Istanbul was truly exceptional. We embarked on a carpet shopping adventure at the historic caravanserai, and his extensive knowledge and expertise made it an unforgettable journey. With a PhD in art philosophy, Israfil not only guided us to a fantastic carpet place but also enriched our trip by pointing out other fascinating sights and sharing brief historical insights along the way.
Israfil's thoughtful approach extended beyond the usual tourist path. He took us to a local lunch spot devoid of tourists, which offered an authentic taste of Istanbul. His kindness towards our 8-year-old was heartwarming; he introduced him to delicious local ice cream, making the experience even more special.
The highlight, of course, was the carpet shopping. Thanks to Israfil, we enjoyed a great experience without any haggling or annoyance. His expertise and connections ensured that my husband ended up purchasing three beautiful rugs, all of which we are thrilled with.
We are very thankful for Israfil's guidance and hospitality. He is a superb guide, and we wouldn't hesitate to book him again for his other tours in a heartbeat. Highly recommended!
