our guide didn’t show! we were there with 10 other travelers. what a disappointment! Don’t rely one anyone for this tour!
Our guide Grace; has a lot of knowledge and is a very fun guide and knows the place very good. She's funny and explains in a very simple way.
The buddha, temple, and lunch were wonderful! On a nice weather day, this tour is a fantastic day. I totally recommend this tour.

After meeting guide at Tuen Chung station we set off for tai o fishing village, bus trip took us to beautiful green side of island. We walked into village on stilts for fish ball tasting! Shops limited but a couple souvenir sellers, then high light boarding boat to see pink dolphins! Well!!!!!! Disappointed doesn’t cover it!!!!! In far distance a couple tour boats were next to fishing boat apparently the dolphins were there!!!!!! Ideal overcast weather as they don’t like sun, we were so far away and stopped for 3 mins!!!! So no photos, I was so disappointed. Later the big Buddha was a slight reprieve and cable car return to station well worth doing if any one goes. But dolphins were what I wanted to see!!!!!!

This tour was just okay. 1st off, our tour began with public transportation. There was no private tour bus for our group. Given our tour was on public transport, there was no history or information about the villages and areas we passed. This was a big disappointment. The fishing village, Tai O was interesting and Ken provided some interesting facts and history about the village. The big buddy was a nice tourist trap. There was a working monetary on the property, which was interesting. The cable car was down for maintenance, which we knew about prior to our trip. I'm sure if the gondola was running, this trip would have been much better. Lastly, Ken did not return to the pickup spot with our group. He left us after the big buddy visit. He arranged transportation back to the train station with another tour group. This was a disappointment for several in our group.
This half-day tour of Lantau Island covers all the must-see sights, including the Big Buddha, Tai O fishing village, and the optional Ngong Ping cable car. Our guide Angela was friendly and knowledgeable, offering interesting historical and cultural insights along the way. The small boat ride in Tai O was a nice touch, and we appreciated the convenience of having transport logistics handled.
That said, much of this tour could be done independently. The Ngong Ping cable car is easy to book on your own, and public transport to Tai O is straightforward. While the guide added value with explanations, the sites themselves are well-marked and accessible for self-guided travelers. The possibility of seeing pink dolphins was exciting, but sightings aren’t guaranteed, so keep expectations realistic. Lunch was good, but would have liked to have dined in Tai O more so than in the temple areas to have a more local experience.
Overall, this tour is great for those who prefer a structured experience with minimal planning, but budget-conscious or independent travelers may find it just as rewarding (and cheaper) to explore Lantau on their own.

The travel to Meeting point was simple and efficient! We were met by our smiling guide Eva at the station! From this time on we were in her hands and she was fantastic informative but most of all passionate about seeing us have a great day! Would recommend the tour to anyone who is looking to spend 4-5 hours exploring 2 of Hong Kongs true gems! If possible ask for Eva and you will be sure to come home with some great photos of your day!

Grace the tour guide was great! She helped us get to the meeting point from our hotel by giving very clear directions. Then from the meeting point she was such a great guide, she made everything so fun.
What a fantastic day! We met our guide Grace at the meeting spot. Grace gave excellent details on how & where to meet. We stopped at Tai O fishing village 1st. The village is a must see! The boat tour was fabulous .
Next was a drive up to the Buddha. Amazing! So worth it. We had a nice lunch as well. We opted to take the Cable car down the mountain, that was incredible! Stunning views! Over all the excursion was well worth it. Grace our guide was so funny and very knowable. I highly recommend this Day trip.
The fish market was interesting but would be much better if we got to see pink dolphins on the boat ride.
Buddha was neat but not quite enough time there. Lunch had a lot of choices.
Was not impressed with public bus ride there!
We took cable car down (extra charge , about $20). It was really long and very nice.
Keep in mind you have to get own transportation to and from meeting point at train station.
The experience was wonderful but the tour guide were late and was way to rushed.For the money we paid we received one curry fish ball from the fisher's village and would rather supported the village by eating at the village.
The tour guide did not turn as stated. The tour guide supposed to have met us at 10:35. I was waiting at the meeting point since 10 o'clock, but no show

Lantau Island is beautiful and a nice break from the hustle and bustle of the city. The Buddha is incredible and definitely worth seeing. Angela was a great guide and helped us get around.

Grace was a great tour guide. She was punctual, knowledgeable, friendly & funny. Glad I read another review saying cable car admission is not included in the package & has to be paid for separately or I would have been surprised, as that was not made clear in the tour description when I booked.

Visiting Hong Kong and booked a day trip with Viator to do the Lantau Island Tour.
Our tour guide was Grace who was exceptional. From the time of receiving confirmation, providing detailed instructions on how to get from our accommodation to the meeting point, the tour itself and getting back to our starting point Grace ticked every box and went above and Beyond our expectations. She is an absolute delight and made the tour so much more enjoyable.
The tour itself was amazing despite the heat. We loved visiting Tai O and the Buddha is a sight to behold. Highly recommend this tour.
