Guide is a very nice man

David, the guide is a very nice man. He was constantly asking if I needed anything else and was always offering suggestions of places for me to go see during my time in Vietnam. I had some difficulty with understanding his English sometimes, but then again, his English is a thousand times better than my Vietnamese. The car driver was great. He was always at the right spot to pick us up and knew the area like the back of his hand. I wanted to see a couple of specific things not usually listed on the generic tour itinerary and we were able to go to those locations. There was a little issue with getting into one location so we ended up going back three times before we could get in which used a lot of time. Maybe a little less time on the Pagodas and temples; I’ve been to tons of them around SE Asia already. I’d suggest that if you have a specific itinerary that you want to see, outside of the generic one, when they contact you the day before, send it to them and let them know those are the things you want to see and forgo the generic locations (unless you want to see them). I did it when picked up and think it would have been better planning to do it in advance.

This was a comprehensive tour of Hanoi and the tour guide (Tim) was excellent particularly in terms of his knowledge and ability to inform me as we visited various attractions. His coordination with his driver was very good to minimise any possible delays and provide the maximum time at the various attractions.

Hanoi Highlights

Nice to see some of the highlights of Hanoi with fab lunch! The agenda we had was not the same as the one we experienced. (I.e. we didn’t go to the Presidential Palace but when to a laquer art and embroidery shop instead which was fine, but it was not expected. Tour guide waited too long and went out of his way for four guests the at were consistently late putting the rest of the group behind schedule.
