Itinerary

Meet your guide, a former chef, bartender and all-round knowledgeable foodie, at Dong Xuan market to begin your half-day Hanoi food tour. Soak up the atmosphere of Hanoi’s largest covered market as you follow your guide around the stalls and stop to chat with stallholders. Discover the unique ingredients that go into some of Hanoi’s most famous dishes and get chance to taste delicious local delicacies and exotic fruits.

Continue through Hanoi’s Old Quarter and admire the French colonial architecture as you duck through the maze of alleyways. Along the way, stop to purchase an array of dishes from some of the city’s best street food vendors and uncover a different side to Vietnam’s varied cuisine.

Finally, join your group for refreshments at a local restaurant, and tuck into the array of street food delicacies, as your guide explains each dish. With your appetite sated, finish your tour in central Hanoi.

The food tour was well paced, in a good order, delicious, and entertaining. Along the way while tasting different foods we passed several spots of interest and had a really nice view at the final stop. Everywhere we went we were able to find good seating and had the opportunity to eat a lot of food as we wanted. What I thought was really interesting was that we also stopped by a shop that dries different fruits as a snack and sampled very tasty treats, tailored to our taste. My guide, Lan, was extremely knowledgeable and informative. She was very easy to chat with and discussed the history behind the different foods we tried as well as sights that we passed along the way and even explained how some of the streets got their names.

This was an excellent tour. We were met at the market by our guide who spoke very good English. She had an assistant also. As we walked through much of the produce areas she explained what a lot of items were that we did not know. She periodically ducked into small restaurant where we sampled some food, then on our way again. She kept doing this. Sometimes her assistant had picked up some items for us to taste as well. And bought us various drinks to try. In all we tasted 29 food and drink items. All were good and different from anything we had eaten in Vietnam. I highly recommend this tour.
