It was a great way to spend 2 nights and 3 days. The rooms are a little dated and not as big as they look in the photos. The staff were great! They did everything they could to make your stay an enjoyable one.

First your Site, I can not trace my Jorney, and get an invoice for it. When I check in "past trps" this trip is not there.
Second I paid for a Room :"PRIVATE BALCONY + BATHTUB: Luxury cabin , private balcony and bath-tub ocean view cabin with full
amenities." WE GOT A "sea leve room with shower"
The trip is oversold, "cave" is just a passage drilled by erosion, check what cave really means.
Not your fault, but the area polution is impressive.

In one sentence: we hated our experience, there’s some false advertisement, it’s not worth the price and the staff is rude.
A longer, explained version: I’ll start with the absolute worse part of our trip: the boat manager. In general, the staff speaks no English, is rude, and seems very very young. On our last day, there was a misunderstanding with the itinerary, so we wrote to the booking company to explain the situation and ask for more information, because we were confused. The result: the manager on the boat came to see us, unannounced while we were playing cards on the sun deck, surrounded by other guests and starting yelling at us. Accusing us of being wrong, of lying, of not listening, saying “well you should just be the guide”. To give context of how unacceptable it was: we are two women, sitting at a table, playing cards. This grown adult man was raising his voice, standing above my friend, his hand on the back of her chair. You can understand that he is towering over her, a few inches from her face. In NO context is that acceptable. EVEN IF let’s say we were in the wrong. More than once did we ask him if he can lower his voice and that he didn’t need to yell at us. We told him, more than once, that we are not angry with him, so why is he so angry at us and can’t have a regular conversation We already were having a very mediocre experience and this just completely ruined it. You could pay me and I wouldn’t set foot on that boat again. Only after speaking with the booking company did he ask to speak with us (hours later) to “apologize”. After this “apology” he asked to take a video of us saying “thank you, we enjoyed our trip”. How manipulative and fake is that?
On a more general note, right from the start, when we got to our room, we noticed the AC made a loud noise, the telephone didn’t work and our mini fridge was empty and not cold. When we asked staff about it, they said we can just order drinks at reception. But the prices of the mini fridge are cheaper, so their only solution was to pay more, at reception. This also meant we could never just have cold drinking water in our room.
This is not a CRUISE. We do not cruise. The boat drives somewhere and is parked in the exact same spot for 3 days. Same view for 3 days. Surrounded by other boats.
There is barely any food for the breakfast and lunch brunch. They say breakfast is from 6:30-7:30. We arrived at 7 and there was no food left. None. When we asked staff, she said “do you want a piece of bread”. I did not pay 400$+ for a piece of bread.
The “sunset party” is non existent. Music stops at around 8:30-9:00pm while we hear all the other boats still playing music.
The music in the dining area doesn’t work. So we get 10 seconds of a song, then it pauses for 1 min. This was ongoing for the entirety of the meals. At this point, just don’t play music.
There is no wifi. When I asked a staff for the password, he just laughed and told me it doesn’t work. Just don’t advertise wifi at this point.
Itinerary is super confusing and when we spoke to other guests, they were just as confused. They described it as “being thrown all over the place with no information”. There is a huge lack of communication between all organizing parties: the booking company, the boat manager and the staff on deck. We never got the same information from either one of them.
We payed over 800$ for two, which is absolutely ridiculous considering what we had and what we did.
It is not worth it, please please please put your money elsewhere.

The crew were great. The food was good. The boat was very old and needs significant renovations. Balcony door did not close, air conditioning did not work. Toilets got blocked and did not work.

This boat was the most beautiful of all the ships in the bay (except the yachts). I highly recommend the 2 day trip. The second day included a very nice day boat where we went further into the bay with much less traffic. The staff went above and beyond to give us a good time. The room and bathroom were very nice and the balcony was perfect. The tour guides were excellent. Other reviews mention a lot of trash in the water but it was minimal. I almost had to look hard to see more than one piece. The food was also delicious. My only complaint was the charge for waters that weren’t in the room.

HaLong Bay was on the top of our list to go to. We are glad we booked the 3 day 2 night because on day 2 you spend the whole day cruising around, kayaking and swimming in a spot that wasn’t swamped with tourists. The food was good and we enjoyed the scenery.

My mom and I went on the 3-Day Cruise of Halong Bay and had an absolutely AMAZING experience! Our cruise director on the Athena was absolutely phenomenal and everything aboard the ship was superb. I would highly recommend staying two nights instead of just one because the full-day trip takes you deeper into the islands and was our favorite sights to see. I would 1000% take this cruise again if given the chance!

The cruise and staff deserves a 5 Star rating . The cruise was well organized from beginning to end. Our cabin was clean and comfortable. The food was excellent and the staff attentive and friendly at all times.
On a different note I would like to add how disappointed I was seeing all the rubbish floating along our cruise through Halong Bay, I have never seen so much trash in the ocean . I would like to urge all tour companies and the government of Vietnam to do something about the pollution of this magnificent landscape, otherwise it will no longer be a tourist attraction!

Crowded, the name cruise is misleading. You pick up your boat in Ha Long port and motor for 45 mins and then moor up surrounded by 70 other boats. From there you are taken to a near by island to sit on a beach with thousands of other people. The cruise is neither luxurious or exclusive. There is minimal safety breifing and no sharing of information about a Unesco World heritage site. The tour companies are just taking advantage of tourists in an almost factory like way. I would not recommend this cruise. I feel like I was ripped off. It was meant to be a 3 day two night cruise but it is more like a 2 day two night cruise. The third day you are in harbour and off the boat before 10:30am. The crew only really start to pay attention to you once you complain to the tour manger about the non existsnt service. Luxury cruise but takes traking down 3 crew members at 5pm for a refreshing beverage and waiting 30minutes even though you are at the bar.
Other passenges and ourselves were agog at the barman siting in a swing chair on his phone until you approached him for a drink.
Not what we perseved as Luxury cruise.
On our day trip a couple were left behind. The boat had to turn around and go back for them.
The plastic and rubbbish in the sea is heart breaking. Such an awe inspiring geological wonder but the sea is full of plastic waste, pearl farm debris and huge polystyrene boxes, just floating past as you kayak around the area.
I think with some small tweaks things could be much much improved.

A must while in Vietnam. I would highly recommend the 2 night tour as you get to see a whole lot more of Halong Bay, especially in some less touristy areas.

Buyer beware, if you are like me you are likely so excited to go to Ha Long Bay and it truly is stunning. But be careful. I booked through Viator as I have used them multiple times and wanted a reputable company for this trip. I spent hours and hours looking for the perfect cruise, comparing boats, rooms, excursions etc. They didn’t put me on the boat in my booking. I found out the second I was physically on the boat and we were pulling out of port. I let the boat manager know right away, showed him the images and booking confirmation and he confirmed the boat in the pictures wasn’t the boat I was on. There was nothing they could do as the boat was filled and all ready at sea. Our room was disappointing at best. The crew tried their best but there was little they could do.
All the historical sites you visit are overpacked, if you aren’t a savvy traveller I wouldn’t recommend as the crowds are very overwhelming and I am a seasoned traveller. The water is also filled with garbage, the worst I’ve ever seen, you can also see boats dumping sewage in the port, so don’t go in the water., kayaking was nice, minus the garbage.
I would also think of the boat as a floating hotel, you are only on it overnight, and the majority of the time you are actually on smaller day boats, this cruise should really be labeled a floating hotel, you will spend the majority of your time on tiny diesel soaked vessels. If you are sensitive to smell - also keep this in mind the fumes are very strong.
NOW all things aside it is beautiful, but I would recommend not spending time choosing a boat because it isn’t guaranteed anyway, lower any and all expectations and when you ask @Viator for help in this situations they will decline your request and say there is anything they can do.
Final recommendation, book a day cruise.
Summary: I made my complaint within the first 15 minutes of the cruise, we had already pulled away, I followed up with Viator following for a refund, sharing all the details and again… they did nothing.
This was not the fault of the crew who really tied to do all they could.

Excellent service from staff and great food. The staff on the boat could not do more for you. Activities were nice with great views. Unfortunately the weather was not great when we visited, I thought the activities could have flexed to the weather ie shorter boat tours and other indoor activities. Although, I suppose the weather is nice most of the time 😂. The activities are also very early in the morning so be prepared for an early start!

This tour is very overrated. The activities are short and barely entertaining. We booked 3 day cruise but ended up leaving after one day because the cruise is boring and there is nothing to do. On top of that there is no cellular reception or wi-fi on the ship. It is not a cruise really. The boat is not going anywhere. You will be taken around in small boats. One night is plenty for this activity.

The guides were excellent and the food abundant. The oyster farm and cave were educational and the kayaking and swimming were fun. It was a great way to meet people from different countries, experience different Vietnamese foods, and enjoy Ha Long Bay. I would sign up for this tour again.

The cruise was luxurious, I recommend doing the 3 day 2 night option. The cruise manager, Ha was fantastic and made sure everything was arranged for us.

We were disappointed with the room as there were not exactly like the pictures . We had booked the highest priced cruise and unfortunately we were not given the name of the ship before 24 hrs of departure. The first day was so busy and crowded but the second day it was magical . We were a small group and we went to less touristy places . The food was amazing as was the staff . There are no activities after dinner except for the squid fishing which was lame . No tv working so evenings were boring . I think that the fact that the ship caters to 1 night and 2 nights at the same time , it needed better communication as we went to the early breakfast!! All in all the halong bay is beautiful but unfortunately very polluted and crowded so 2 nights gives you a better experience .

This cruise - Halong Bay was the highlight of our Vietnam holiday. The cruise ship was very comfortable, the food and scenery was amazing. Our captain was Morning who couldn’t do enough for us. We also enjoyed all the activities provided. Definitely recommend doing this.
