All in all, I was very impressed. The boat was in good condition, the crew was friendly, and the food was really good. The cabins were also lovely, and the bathroom was great. The boat isn't very big, which is fantastic because you're in a small, intimate group and have the opportunity to chat with others (maximum capacity 38 people – but there were only 15 of us). Bai Tu Long Bay is wonderful because there were only three or four other boats there besides ours. This is in contrast to Halong Bay, where there are hundreds of boats. Therefore, it was very peaceful, even during the activities on land. The highlight of the tour was definitely our guide, Tommy, who made the experience truly special. He provided fascinating insights into Vietnamese culture, landscapes, and the lives of the people, and he guided us professionally throughout the tour – the timing was excellent and the organization was superb. The activity program is somewhat limited – don't expect too much – but it's also great to simply relax on board. Also positive: Transfers are included – and onward transport to another location if necessary (in my case, Ninh Binh). What bothered me was the poor communication with the agency beforehand. They were very difficult to reach – I tried both WhatsApp and email – and I always had to wait a very long time for replies. At the same time, I only ever received partial answers to my questions, which meant I had to ask again and again (with more waiting) until I received complete information. That was incredibly annoying and unnecessary. Overall, I found the price a bit too high for the whole experience (although I did pay for a single room, which is more expensive) – but I would still recommend it.

Tommy = best aspect of the tour

Our guide Tommy was by far the best aspect of this trip. He was smart and funny with a keen interest in geology, zoology angle geo politics, he was able to identify squid and a flying fish in the waters surrounding our boat and was able to talk at length about the phenomena which resulted in the rock formations in Bai Tu Long bay. His English was unusually good, with correct pronunciation and grammar, on occasion he corrected our English! In a sensitive way of course! Without Tommy our rating would have been lower. Thanks Tommy.

Bai Tu Long Bay is beautiful, the cruise staff were extremely attentive and our guide Sunday was excellent. We decided to not participate in the activity ( Kayaking, cave visit ) as it was too cold. Because of this we had the entire boat to ourselves and it was fantastic. Our room was excellent with a balcony and windows looking on the beautiful view. We are vegetarians and the crew noted it and tried their best to accommodate our needs. Things that can be improved The food was always lukewarm, the first lunch was fantastic but from then on the food was lackluster ( it might be because we are vegetarians ) The fuel used in the boat causes fumes ( there were at least 6 boats in the area ), this makes it difficult to use the balcony or open the window. These are minor issues , we still enjoyed our cruise
