Dalí and Some Surreal Landscapes

Marc_M, Sep 2025
A great day of Dalí and coastal landscapes with very knowledgeable and friendly guide Dylan. Starts off a bit slow with a longish drive to the Cap de Creus lighthouse (the eastern “end of the world”) to see the wild landscapes and seascapes that haunted Dalí’s dreams. Very cool to see some of the natural motifs that recur in his art, and the beautiful white-washed town of Cadaqués where he had a home. After some very good tapas in Figueres, the museum was fantastic. Highly recommended.

Our guide Kim shared his extensive knowledge of Catalonia and also of Dali : his life and works. Kim and our driver Alex were patient but kept the trip flowing well. The Costa Brava was beautiful. Overall a highlight of our stay in Catalonia.

Amazing tour ❤️❤️❤️ - don’t miss it!

Don't Miss This Tour

This was one of the best tours we've taken. It's a must if you want to understand the influences that shaped Dali. The national park is spectacular and well worth the visit. Our guide Pete was extremely knowledgeable about Dali and explained the symbolism and themes of his art.

The Dali tour was great!

James_M, May 2023
Alvar our guide was great - very knowledgeable about the history of the region and Dali art. The tour was just my wife Rachel and myself. Alvar graciously accommodated Rachel who wanted to practice her Spanish on the drive. We got just the right dose of Dali - a great understanding of his life and his art - and enjoyed hearing about Alvar's life and life in Spain.

Lighthouse alternative to wine tasting is a waste of our time.

Taking us to Cap de Creus lighthouse is a total waste of time! It is at the very end of the earth! After an hour 1/2 drive from Girona and goung to a winding road is so uninteresting. We should have gone to Port Lligat right away. And it was disappointing not go in Dali’s home. For $15 I would have paid extra! Dali’s Theatre museum in Figueres is the best part of the tour. I should have just booked that one by itself. Or if going to Port Lligat, at least add goung inside Dali’s home in the program.

Response from Host, Nov 2022

As your guide explain you at the beginning of the tour, the wineries are closed now because the low season. We have removed this activity from this tour but Viator still don't have change the text. So we offer another activity inside the Cap the Creus natural Park, a walk to see the landscapes from the lighthouse. I am sorry that you did not want to visit (because you stayed inside the vehicle) one of the most impressive places on the Costa Brava, the Cap de Creus Natural Park. If you had visited it you would have been able to see the landscapes that the artist Salvador Dalí painted many times in his paintings and you could have compared them later in the Museum with his paintings. Of course, going there to stay in the car doesn't make any sense, as you rightly say. The other client who shared the tour with you enjoyed it very much, instead. After Cap de Creus the tour includes a stop in Portlligat to see the area where the artist lived and to see his house from the outside. This tour does not include a visit to the interior of the Dalí House. The Dalí House is included in another of our tours "Dalí 2 Museums, Figueras and Portlligat" maybe you made a mistake when booking the tour. This tour that you booked also included one of the most beautiful towns on the Costa Brava, Cadaqués. Where Dalí spent the summer throughout his childhood and a magical place for artists like Picasso and many others. It seems that you didn't like it either. After Cadaqués we went to Figueres to visit the Dalí Theatre-Museum, which is the main visit of this tour and where they could enjoy a 2-hour guided tour by an expert guide on Dalí. Well it seems that you liked that, we are very happy! We would like to remind you that this tour is designed with this itinerary because we try to put all of Dalí's work in its context, understanding where he was inspired, where he painted, explaining his life and his motivations. This tour is NOT private. It cannot be changed to suit each one, and even less so when there are other clients. We hope you understand!. We recommend you that when you book a tour you read very well what you are going to visit and if you don't like it, please don't book it. Best wishes, Carme Adamuz

A very stimulating visit to Dali’s museum and an enjoyable day on the Costa Brava.

The Dali Theatre Museum was outstanding . Our guide did a wonderful job explaining the significance of many of the pieces and greatly added to our enjoyment. The visit to the National Park lighthouse was good, outstanding scenery, and the Time in Cadaques most enjoyable.

Fabulous day tour, excellent operator!

We had a fabulous day with Raquel touring the coast and the Dali museum. Raquel was incredibly knowledgeable and made our visit to the area much richer and more memorable. In addition, we had decided last minute to book a tour and the operator was able to accommodate our booking request with extremely short notice. We found it very safe and comfortable. Easy logistics with pickup and dropoff at our hotel. We are very glad we booked the tour!

This is one of the best tours I have participated in. Marc was our guide with Carmen as a very capable driver. There were no other travelers that signed up for the tour on this day so my husband and I essentially received a private tour. We were picked up on time from our hotel. Marc is warm, personable and extremely knowledgeable about the area and Dali. The Dali museum is excellent but it doesn't provide a lot of information on the pieces so it is almost necessary to have a guide to explain the background and the artwork so that you get the complete vision of Dali and don't miss out on the quirks of this place. We visited the seaside town of Dali's home and also lunched there at an excellent restaurant recommended by the guide. We ended the tour with a wine tasting which was a perfect cap to the day. My husband had purchased a bottle from the winery but on the way back to the hotel, he dropped it and the bottle was smashed. Amazingly, when we woke up the next morning, Marc had brought a replacement bottle of wine for us at the hotel. This is beyond thoughtful and kind. I highly recommend this tour and especially this guide if you can get him when signing up for this tour.

We really enjoyed this tour. They helped us with the train information to get to Girona I missed that in the listing, very easy. They met us promptly at the station and took us to the Dali museum. Our guide went through the museum with us to help with our understanding and appreciation. She wasn't overbearing, was very helpful and enjoyable. We went to Dali's hometown and walked around, very picturesque. Day ended at a wine tasting, paired with local items, great. We only had a day to visit the area, so this was great. No problems with driving or language, able to just enjoy it.

Girona Experience was the best tour...

Girona Experience was the best tour company during our 10 day stay in Spain. Carme really goes out of her way to accommodate and make you feel comfortable. Also, she's an AMAZING driver and her van is so clean and smells so good. We booked the Dali/Cadaques tour and we had a private guide named Guisspe. He is a historian who is extremely knowledgeable and it was certainly a treat to have him show us around. The sights were absolutely gorgeous. Loved the wine cata at the end with time for shopping. Thank you both for your professionalism and care. We will definitely be repeat customers and refer to our friends and family. Best wishes always!!! The Penas
