We appreciated Girona Spain so much due to the fabulous information that Pau gave us.
He was friendly, informative, and respectful of the Jewish history. Would definitely do another tour with Pau.
Emily_W, Mar 2026
We booked a tour of the Jewish quarter in English. Our guide Pau was very knowledgeable and took us through not only the Jewish quarter, but gave us the historical context over centuries. He also guided us through the Jewish History Museum, and his commentary added a lot to our understanding of what we saw.
Judith_O, Jan 2026
We were very disappointed with the tour. The most we saw was at the Jewish museum which we could have done on our own for only 4 euros. Our guide spent a lot of time talking with her fellow who was being trained for the tour. We have taken many Viator tours and this was definitely not up to the usual quality.
Response from Host, Jan 2026
Hi Judith,
We so sorry you didnd enjoy the tour.
As you were the only customers that day you have had a private tour that day with a guide only for you. Our guides are experts in Jewish history of Girona and some times we have students trainig to be guides. We are very sorry if this bothered tou.
We always try our best!

Very interesting and comprehensive. Appreciated going through the Jewish museum with the guide and the interweaving of the Jewish and general history of Girona.

Mike’s tour of Girona was absolutely excellent! He was so knowledgeable, both as a native and local, as well as having a rich knowledge of the overall and Jewish history of Girona. Mike was very friendly and having taken tours in many of the 30 countries I’ve visited, one of the absolute best. Thank you, Mike!

Seeing a display of the wall that enclosed the Jewish quarter. It was interesting. I liked the museum.

Our guide Pete was fantastic. Personable, and very very knowledgeable about the long and fascinating history of the Jews in Girona and the city itself. A terrific experience for my wife and I.
Crystal_K, Oct 2024
Miguel was knowledgeable and enthusiastic about Jewish history of Girona. We hope to come back to Girona with our family to explore more with this guide
Teri_M, Sep 2024
Mike, our guide, brought the history of Girona alive through stories and personal conversation as a lifelong resident of Girona. His knowledge of Jewish history and Jewish practice is extensive and goes beyond only what it would seem he needed to know for the tour alone. I thoroughly enjoyed the tour and the visit to the Jewish museum.

We were met by Mike, the most enjoyable, entertaining and incredibly intelligent, knowledgeable guide. We learned so much from him about the Jewish experience though out the history of Girona and about the Catalonian identity and much more

Michael is as amazing. He is as very knowledgeable about the subject but also enthusiastic. We enjoyed his tour and would highly recommend him.

Our guide Pere was so knowledgeable and enthusiastic - so we really enjoyed learning about old Girona and how the part played by the Jewish community. Would recommend the tour and Pere.

Visiting the Jewish Museum and walking the streets. Seeing the mezuzah indents carved into the stones of two homes.
marion_k, Sep 2023
The tour guide was not a good story teller. It was just a memorized speech. I could have just read the information in a book.
Allison_D, Aug 2023
I booked Monday and there was not enough booked in so I was offered Wednesday which I was so happy about. I was contacted today and was told it's only in Spanish- I was told it was English speaking. I asked if I could do another time but we leave Thursday morning and there was not another of the same tour running on Wednesday afternoon so I had to ask for a refund.

Excellent tour, with a very well informed guide. Putting the history of the Jews of Gerona into the context of the history of the city was well done
Lauren_C, Mar 2023
This tour was very informative and we were taught a really well rounded history of Girona. We really appreciated how our tour guide catered the tour based on the various levels of Jewish religious knowledge of the group members. Would definitely recommend. Ona, our tour guide, was really the best!
nn0326, Dec 2022
Ona was our tour guide and she did an amazing job. She was very knowledgeable in the topic and answered all of our questions. She knew everything you could know about Girona and its history, and she knew a lot about the Jewish traditions and customs and how that impacted Jewish life in Girona.
Allison_G, Dec 2022
Our guide was great! Very knowledgeable about Jewish history or Girona and the history of the area. She took us around the city and then gave us a personal tour of the Jewish museum
Alan_G, Oct 2022
The tour specified a Jewish heritage tour but unfortunately there is very little to see. A bit misleading.
Response from Host, Oct 2022
Hi Alan,
I respect your opinion, perhaps you thought that in Girona you would find more vestiges of the 600 years that we share with the Jewish community, but I don't agree with you at all.
Girona has one of the best preserved Jewish quarters from the Middle Ages in Europe. The layout of its streets and its structure is the same as the neighborhood had from the XI-XII century.
We also preserve part of the last synagogue, the one that was in operation between 1435 and the expulsion in 1492, today home to the Museum of the History of the Jewish Community. We also preserve a Micve from that time and original palaces and mansions of important Jews who lived at that time, such as the Palace of the Ravaia or the House where the last governor of the Aljama Lleó Avinay lived.
But in my opinion, apart from the buildings that remain, what you can feel walking around Girona thanks to our guides is undoubtedly the feeling of a journey through time, of breathing the atmosphere that existed in the middle ages, the different stages between the 2 communities and understand a little better that common past that was buried and hidden for hundreds of years.

Kiss the lioness, Jewish Quarter and living in Girona. Ona was personable, knowledgeable and patient. A very good guide and fun person.
Mary_G, May 2022
There was a great deal of repetition from from city tour. The guide was knowledgeable but there is not enough places in Girona to support the tour
